  1. Sold my V9s and picked up these V10s. One game so far. Stiffer and I love the boot. Glove is super light, though I had a couple stingers in warmups. Overall a good first game with some minor adjustments to make.
  2. Yes, at the pond mostly, with the occasional sub at Chap or crossover. The far side seems to be hotter.
  3. I don’t think it’s super hot. I also put a little peppermint oil on my chest and neck to keep cool. The rinks in Austin run a little warm in the summer, so maybe that has me conditioned to the heat.

    Vaughn SLR 4

Buddy of mine had the SLR4 pro carbon chesty for about a day before he returned it. The Velcro on the elbow floaters wore the aero material from him wearing it around the house. Screen shots from the video he shared with me.
  5. Do you know the differences in the fit numbers? Length, size, both? There was a brand new AB18pro on sideline earlier this week that was a fit 2 with regular arms. Passed on it because I am in a fit 4 with +1 arms, thinking fit 2 would be too small.
  6. Hoping to find a deal on one after they are out for a bit, otherwise that is Brown price range.
  7. I cannot wait to give this a look. Really like my AB18Pro and cannot seem to like anything else. Just tried a retail custom SLR3 pro carbon and the protection sucked despite being a beefed up unit. I guess it is the new AB Pro or a Brown next for me.
  8. Sits very high. I have +1 arms and have them as short as they well go. That seems to be keeping it high. I’ll try to get a picture. I have added a lot of stitching to the CCM unit.
  9. Got a deal on a practically unused SLR3 pro carbon JH spec chesty. Giving it a try as my CCM AB18 unit feels like it is not meant to last. Ditching my suspenders and going to try the half tuck. This will be the shortest chesty I’ve used in a while. My CCM sits at about my waist line and the slr3 is at about my belly button. The slr3 feels mobile and protective. Will see how it feels on the ice later this week.
  10. I have used their toe ties (I like gold), on at least 6 pairs on various sets of pads. Solid rep on GGSU. I will be getting their foam soon for a mask I need to refoam.
  11. No joke, I did this at a black tie wedding this summer. Hawaiian shirt under a blazer with jeans and flip flops. Does that qualify me for anything?
  12. The one time I don’t check after posting. Here is the full set, including the pants that also match. If anyone knows who Craig Mason is from other groups, that is who has supplied me with this and my neon set. Honestly the bright colors seem to work for me, as it gives me better body awareness and position with my peripheral vision. Mode: please give me the appropriate ban on not showing the full set, as long as that can be a rule goin forward.
  13. I went from a pair of Landon Bow Vaughn Velocity pants to SLR3 pro carbon. Was a little hesitant about double flaps at first, but they have been a non issue. Shorter legs on the SLR3s have been helpful with pad rotation on my V9s.
  14. Off In The Shower. Nobody beats them.
  15. These won’t match my teams at all. One is red/white and the other is black/purple. My current set doesn’t match either. Trying to get the red/white team to go orange/yellow. There are are a lot of other variables to consider, but I feel like I have played better with bright color pads. They help me see my gloves better in my peripheral vision. Looking forward to these pads arriving..
  16. Since we are all posting our. Here is my CCM chesty. Purchased from a member here. Fit 4 with +1 arms. Not brand new, but feels not very used. Picture next to my Kenesky (also from a member here) for comparison. The bicep shots hurt less. Stomach shots feel different, like a slap instead of a punch.
  17. Picked these up at the Texas Stars team sale a few years ago. Well worn, but lots of life left. Selling because I found some slr3 pants that match my pads. These were Landon Bow’s pants. They seem like an XL, but no size is listed. They have some snags and small hole in the rear elastic, but are in decent shape elsewhere. I did some minor mending in black thread that is hidden well. Looking for $125 plus shipping.
  18. Still using your Kenesky, but I added a lot more padding to biceps and shoulders. Get a few bad ones every once in a while. Agree that going Kenesky is not a good idea.
