Here's the list of top playoff save percentages (career) with minimum 15 games played.

    USA: 2
    Swiss: 1
    Russian: 1
    Czech: 1
    German: 1
    Canada: 3
    Finnish: 1

I know you put a huge emphasis on save percentage for determining a goaltender's worth, but out of the top performing goalies in the playoffs, only three guys have won the cup. Well, technically 4 since Rask was on the bench for Thomas' cup.

Hell, only 4 of these guys have even seen the finals, Rask being the only one to see it multiple times.

Historically, you're correct about N/A goalies winning it most often, but a lot of those historical stats are heavily skewed due to the first half of the leagues history being essentially all North America players only.

Watching teams draft goalies every year is kind of fun if you're into pattern recognition.  You hear the term 'copycat' thrown around quite often and I think drafting history shows this to be true.
Late 80s to mid 90s: GMs all over Quebec trying to find the next Patrick Roy
Mid 90s to early 00s: GMs all over Czech to find the next Hasek (Roman Cechmanek and Roman Turek should pay royalties to Hasek for their careers)
Early to mid 00s: GMs all over Finland to find the next Kipper
Mid 00s to early 10s: Now it's off to Sweden so we can clone Lundqvist.  What? He's got a twin? Can he play net?
Early 10s: All right boys let's make another Bobrovsky out of Russia
    etc.

Looking at Vezina candidates by decade, we can see the 80s and 90s were dominated by North American tendies.  As we move into the 00s and 10s, there are two years punctuated by all-Euro goalie candidates:

    12-13: Bob, Lundy, Niemi
    21-22: Shesty, Marky, Saros

Until then, the defacto 'best goalies in the world' were North American.  So we're dealing with a smaller sample size.  Similar to how people used to say "Easton sticks break all the time" - well, they had the biggest market share so you're going to see a lot more broken Easton sticks.

IMO Euro goalies only really came into vogue in the NHL after Hasek, then Kipper, then Lundqvist had their runs.

Why are you such a dick to me??? Are you not supposed to be an unbiased mod???

Grow up and stay on topic next time.

I don't know if you're intentionally oblivious or if it's an act you just put out on the internet.  You're right, I should be nicer because I genuinely feel bad for you.

Here you are expecting a REAL PERSON to be unbiased, and in the same thread you are making some clearly skewed* (and arguably xenophobic) remarks about North American tendies being better/more Cup-worthy than everyone else...

*this is a synonym for 'biased'

This is my first Bauer order. I'm interested to see how the build quality is as their track record is well known.  My primary C/A is a Kenesky PP1 that I've had for almost 4 years now. It's a tank but I'm not sure I'd order another one with the crazy long wait times. I've just tried Passau Pro Pack, but the shoulder floaters are not for me.

I wish CCM would just sell their new NHL spec unit like this

The Bauer product is good, and I think the levels of build they offer is good for most people.  I may have just had bad luck with the stitching pulling.

I got absolutely smoked a couple times in my Kenesky.  Like, my entire right arm was black and blue for 2 weeks.

I tried to give them an order in February for some small parts (leather and elastic straps).  Haven't heard back since March.  Not worth it

I think I'm leaning towards this option, just cause I'm a big baby and I hate stingers. now I've got to decide which arms are best for me... how I do that I have no idea.

I custom ordered a Hyperlite with Mach arms last year.  Had the full beef up kit specced on there (upper + lower arms, shoulders) and still caught some pretty bad bruises through it against various levels of Euro pro, NA pro, NCAA and Junior guys.

Also had some minor quality quibbles on the unit.  I gave it 3-4 skates before going back to my CCM AB18 and stitches were already popping out of it by the end.

  4. Feel bad for Andersen, there were some really bad defensive breakdowns on the first 3 goals against

Stoked to see Bob continue his run.  Was nerding out with a goalie I work out with how Bob has toned his game down a lot and learned to play off patient edges and getting good reads

Here are photos of what I’m talking about. Here is the Mach pinky protection while holding a stick:

    And here is the 2-piece:

Looks to me like the elastic should start at the blue X?

I'm so frustrated by all the legit sites that sell real pro adidas jerseys.  All I want is a genuine adidas nhl Canes jersey in 58G+ or 60G with logos but no name and number.  I've called a dozen companies and always get the same story - they tell me adidas doesn't sell goalie jerseys to the public and no one will even try to special order me one.

WTF why not? There are literally thousands of goalies in the world that would buy one if they could get it, it just doesn't make sense.

My only option so far is to try and find a prostock on Ebay or Sideline, and IF you can find one they want $350 or $400 for it.  That's just ridiculous.......

I just hope when Fanatics takes over that they will sell some damn goalie jerseys..............

This is probably why. - tldr; "retail Authentic" jerseys are made in Indonesia.  Adidas (or more specifically, their factory in Indonesia) doesn't make them in goalie cut.  Would be willing to bet Fanatics will not either, there is no money in producing goalie cuts for the general public.

True NHL game jerseys are made in Quebec (source).

    Quote

Each NHL game jersey today is made in a factory in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, near Montreal. Fanatics will continue to use the same factory, the same specs for players and even some of the same fabrics, at least at first. The company has assembled a team of people with decades of experience working on NHL on-ice and performance products.

It sounds to me like this shop in Quebec ghosts for whoever has the NHL jersey deal at the time (Reebok/Adidas/now Fanatics).

A quick Google search yields SP Apparel as a jersey manufacturing facility in St-Hyacinthe, and their blurb says they contract with Adidas and Fanatics.

    Quote

A total of 260 employees contribute to the success of our company, and our clients include some of the most important brands in the industry such as Nike, Adidas, CCM, Bauer, and Fanatics amongst others.

Their catalog claims all 32 NHL teams are in their product:

So I guess order an SP Apparel jersey if you want the closest thing you can get to the real deal.

Implying I don’t know goalies because I have a differing opinion from you is just immature. Pretty sure I know goalies if I’ve been playing almost the entirety of my life and goalie coaching since I was 12. Theres a reason why many goalie coaches are using Russians as examples now. I strongly believe the Avs could win a cup with Georgiev in net, he was great this post season but the team had too many injuries to keep going. His contract is also cheaper than Kuemper. As for the salary cap thing, everyone does the over thing. The Avs could’ve last year but didn’t, Tampa did it, the Blackhawks did it, and as much as people like you bitch and moan they don’t get an asterisk by their cups nor do they probably ever think about how they were however many million dollars over. Winning the cup is fucking hard no matter whos on your roster. Gone are the days of Price being the model goalie for coaches and kids. Now all anyone seems to want to model after or talk about is Sorokin, Vasilevskiy, or Shesterkin. But what do I know? I guess I don’t really know goalies.

Nice job, you've probably scared him back into his hole as he won't have a response to this.

He'll come out in like 3 days and cherrypick on another person's post

My only complaint, is I wish there was an option to not have white nylon on the back of the calf sliding surface.  I wanted white sliding surface, but would rather have black or orange on the calf.  My CCMs were always yellow/brown after a few seasons.  I know CCM now lets you choose that zone with the leg channel colour.  I'll live with it though, as I am really happy with these pads!

You can put in a special request for them to change the back nylon.  I forgot to do it on this set but they've done it for me in the past.

My set arrived today.  Thank you @Chenner29, @Aquilzz, and @turbototts for the advice back in March.  This set took exactly 8 weeks from order to my house.
    - 34 + 1, soft break, ultra soft boot, 2 leather straps, recessed knee with inner knee wrap.
    - 600 break, single T, pro palm

    - Blocker has curved finger guard

Yes I know my glove color zones don’t match blocker and pads, I wanted it that way 😄

Glove closure on a *real* Lefevre glove is butter eh?

So yeah, a progression in my game and in my physical abilities (thank you @Chenner29 for your help and support) has led to wanting more and more stability and rigidity my pads, more and more stiffness, less and less flex.

Why you gotta blame me for this

  12. 1 hour ago, Rogie said:

Great comparison photo. I think you’re right.  Pros probably found this design too flexible and they made the change when they went into production. I initially thought it might have been a 12.2 skinned as PX3 too, but that wouldn’t explain the thinned out knee which is the defining characteristic of the model.  Even so, while it’s more flexible, it doesn’t seem any more flexible than the 12.2 so maybe that was their baseline. The production PX3 certainly takes thigh board stiffness  up a huge notch.

I do wonder if and how they’re going to satisfy goalies who want the flex / S-curve from the 12.2 since they’re not making it anymore. Seems like a huge gap for everyone they got into the 12.2.  Or, is this how they’re planning to differentiate their line away from eFlex as they go forward?

In any case. Man, are these high quality pads. I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to take a look at a set in person to check them out.

I don't think the thighs you have were an early version.  @Teezle shared this pic of some Bobrovsky 12.2s back when the thread first started (around the time the name change was announced from 12.X to PX).  If anything, these are likely the prototype of what became the PX line

Note Bob is now in a 12.2 branded line with the same thigh rise notch as PX, that is probably what we are going to see at retail next year for HZRDUS (Hx3?)

So the Sharks had their end of season equipment sale this weekend and I was pleased to pick up a pair of PX3 pads made for Eetu Makiniemi who played just a few games for them this year.

I didn’t expect to find these and had recently purchased a new stock set of 12.2s but it’s nice to have both to compare. These have a non-recessed wraparound knee and under-the-heel leather strap, but otherwise standard FRS strapping, soft boot and soft shin just like stock pads. For anyone interested, the weight of each pad is identical. 5.29 lbs

The thinness of the Px3 thigh boards is immediately noticeable when you strap them on. It feels weird now to go back to the 12.2s which suddenly seem chunky. Also immediately noticeable is that the thigh boards have an S-shape curve in them. I’d swear there’s a second break where the board starts to thin. You can see  wrinkles in the Jen pro there. Thank you Eetu for breaking these in.  I had been hesitant to go with PX3s because I have a narrow butterfly and thought the thigh wouldn’t close the five hole. With these, no problem. I’ll be curious to hear if others with these pads find the thigh boards softening up and holding a curve over time. Since these have already been used for a while, this might represent a look into the future on how they break in.

Another completely unexpected find was a set of Reimer gloves. But the surprise was that the catch glove was a legit True 580 (game ready) made for him (his name is stitched into the glove). It is almost new. Only a few puck marks on the palm and pocket. it matches his 2X-dressed-as-Mach blocker graphic pretty nicely. Interesting to me that he had tried a True glove. Hard to imagine him leaving Bauer. Maybe they were trying to lure him away—or was he just curious?

So either Lefevre put a running change in to the thigh rise, or they've made another pro-only option.

On your set, the pads thin out noticeably closer to the knee block assembly than on mine
