I saw this on Twitter. Love the look of the chesty. Very streamlined. I just need to find out if Brian's can do large body with medium arms because retail chestys never have arms that are adjustable enough.

Thanks for the response, that is definitely good to know.
I would also like to know your thoughts on the outsider straps (or the like). My backplate straps are gross and need to be replaced.
@craig, I am currently located in eastern panhandle of West Virginia (about an 1.5 hours from Washington DC).
Absolutely love my outsider straps! Just make sure you don't get the ones with snaps. I don't like those.

I don't know, I'm finding it interesting to see guys shorter than me using a much larger stick and guys taller than me using the same length stick as me.
Plus, all everyone wants to do is talk about themselves, may as well let people interact and get post happy.
But the numbers are meaningless without a point of reference. But whatever I guess. Silly me thinking post quality matters more than traffic.

It’s just another datapoint. Maybe people will see that lots of other users their size are using a taller or shorter paddle. Might inspire them to mix it up and try something new.
I’ve found different stick heights, patterns, and lies help set my hands better in my stance or better control in the butterfly.
I like this thread and that’s why I started it
Also, if your not into a thread, why bother commenting? It’s not adding value. Skip over to the next one where your knowledge or opinion can add some value and foster great conversation.
There’s tons of threads that I think are silly, but there’s 600 members and around 100,000 hits a month. I realize the other members might be into a thread.
Would I be helpful if I chimed in “I don’t think it’s helpful when people post videos of them self playing” or “who cares about what jersey you like wear in pick up?”
I guess I was just hoping we could create something useful that actually adds value rather than just continuing a pointless thread.

This thread isn't especially useful unless you're using actual measurements like we were TRYING to determine in another thread (though that one was quickly de-railed too by people posting manufacturer sizes instead of real sizes)

Y'all need to get on the Warrior/Brian's bandwagon.
What's a break in period?
Never used Warrior, but Brian's were really stiff out of the box.

It sounds like Passau is the only company left without a uniform a paddle height with the industry. Great info!
The other way around. Passau is (one of) the only one(s) with a paddle height that is measured in actual inches. The rest of the industry needs to start doing that.

I hear ya, but as it is now, I'm in the Bauer x900s (no cowling), and those are some REALLY light skates (2-piece of course). the only issue I have with them though is that my right ankle is pitched forward a bit so it's at the point where it has pushed back the memory foam in the lining from all the back and forth movement and now it's literally resting against the skate sidewall - "ouch" to say the least lol.
I went and tried every single skate they had in the store and it's clear if I buy another pair it would just be a repeat of the x900s... so getting a custom boot made is my best option, but damn - feels like i'm holding a brick in my hand (compared to the Bauers). That said - comfort (no pain) over a bit of weight... shouldn't even be a question. I'll go take another look at them.
wonder if anyone at True can tell me there's any way we can shave some weight on the one piece or no?They are definitely going to be heavier than Bauers, no question. But like you said, the fit and comfort make the weight difference so unimportant. It's not like we as goalies are skating around the ice all night like a forward would be.
The only way you can shave weight off is going to be to have them cut larger holes in the holder area, but you're going to hit that line between weight and structural integrity at SOME point (I have no idea where). With all of that being carbon fibre, you're not going to notice it enough to bother.

While the bend is very slight and you'd probably be okay, you have to consider that cages are meant to bend on impact. I look at it like it's done its job, time for a new one. I always have an extra one on hand at home in case I get a dent. With yours I'd bet you're okay, certainly until you're able to get another one, but that depends on the level of risk you're willing to take on. It always blows my mind when I see guys who think its okay to play with a bent cage because "it didn't break yet".
As for the paint, not much you can do about the damage other than to do what you can to keep it from chipping more. On a plain white mask I'd just suggest hitting it with a few layers of clear nail polish.

"blocking style" ... is that what they're calling his inability to catch a puck?

I always get a kick out of people referring to the "keeps method" as if he discovered or invented it. Maybe it's just that he's got the only YouTube video that actually describes how to do it?
Anyway, because my palm had maltese in it, just wrapping it wasn't sufficient. I used a clamp right on the break after every skate to help break it in. I've never used a stretcher before though. I always see photos of peoples gloves with one in the pocket. I've never quite figured that one out. My glove opens just fine. It's the closing that I have a hard time with.

@Tim_TRUEHockey or anyone else, can someone please confirm the diameter of the toe strap hole (and the other holes in the holder, for that matter) on the one piece skate? Trying to figure out if standard size Pro Laces and/or HALs will fit through. Thanks!
If its like it used to be, you could get them actually drilled any size you wanted (within reason).

With the "two piece" you can literally use any holder. You can use a cowling or go the cowlingless route is really is the most universal.
I have yet to hear of any issues with the one piece. I was talking to an ECHL equipment manager and he said a lot of guys are switching to them but he has the same fear if they damage the skate they have to replace the entire skate.
He hasn't seen any that have broke though. It helps that in the case of True skates there's no break-in time needed for a replacement pair if it does get broken. Though us beer leaguers generally don't exactly have the funds to take that chance.

I stepped on the ice and was not ready for the experience. It felt like I was skating with Swords strapped to my feet. Got the guy to do 1/2 cut on these blades and I think it's too much specially for these 3mm blades. Will need some wax laces for this break in process to get the skates to mold better over time to my feet as well as thicker socks. Thinnies were not good for this break in period.
When the puck was coming in the zone and my D men wanted me to play the puck I was basically like this
Will need some break in time for sure.

Yikes. I do not miss having to break in skates.

Any chance you'd be willing to send out a small sample? I keep buying NME8 masks just because the padding is so comfortable. The gel inserts eliminate pressure points.
18 hours ago, Mroy31 said:@IPv6Freely It's definitely softer than the stuff that was in my Profile 950 that I had before switching. Never had experience with things like Maltese though
I found Maltese too hard also. That's why I went back to the stock NME padding.

Pretty much, gets less gross though.

Very nice looking masks. I just don't know if I could get used to that foam.

Wow, I just looked it up. That thing looks fantastic. And being Brian's you know its going to be quality, even if non-Pro level. The leg pads look pretty great, too.

If you mean the sharpie... number on the butt end. If you mean getting out more... I simply mean the fact I have enough time to consider a market color means I have too much time on my hands and should go do something productive.
yeah I highlighted the butt end part Your jersey number, or 1-3 so you can tell which stick is which? I've done the latter when I had multiple sticks that looked the same.

First game in with the new version of the Pro Bridge Kit (formerly RYNO) and couldn't be happier. Having the velcro stitched to the plastic piece instead of just stuck on is a huge improvement, and of course having it covered in jenpro at all is nice since with my all-black setup the white plastic bit looked out of place
