A few things I learned last night:

    • The core select "stiffness" after the break is more regarding how the rebounds will come off the pad than how stiff the single break is (corroborating what someone else here said)
    • The 615 blocker only comes with straight fingers and half cuff, its main difference is that the sidewall is connected more flush
    • I had it confirmed that Game Ready Xtra is in-between the Game Ready and Pro Palm (albeit I think that was mostly known, but potentially not clear)
    • I did not learn anything about the board angle, I agree that is likely something to come later since it's not in the catalog

Hmm... swapping to a Hazardous 595 blocker doesn't change half-cuff/one-piece cuff options.

The Hazardous customizer also has some warnings about blocker options that are not available if you select 585 with binding, but 585 isn't even an option anymore. 585 is still an option on Catalyst, though. Sounds like True needs to make some fixes to the customizer.

  2. Was looking at the Hazardous customizer.

    1. Weird that the blocker cuff only has a half-piece option. Custom catalog has options for both half- and one-piece options.

    2. There's an option for Board Angle, but only one option - Regular Face. There's no mention of Board Angles on the custom catalog. A sign of things to come?

    Hi all,

I’m posting in this thread because I have a similar issue, every mask I’ve had has not fit me perfectly, I’ve used a Medium Bauer 960, Medium CCM Axis, and now I’m in a small NME One, I play junior hockey in Canada and consistently get shots that just don’t feel good. I’ve been thinking about a custom Pros Choice, but so expensive. Anyone have any experiences with Pros Choice or advice in general?

Sportmask and OTNY are based in Canada, and I think they have CSA certified options. And as @chile57says, Apex, formerly known as Coveted, might have some CSA approved options for you.

There's probably a Pro's Choice megathread somewhere in this Masks subforum - but none of his masks are CSA certified, as far as I know. Plus he's located in the USA and they are pretty pricey so you'd have to deal with currency conversion, which would not be in your favor, and border transit times.

One thing i noticed and have read several people having the same issue is that the Vapor 90 doesn't seal the ice completely when covering the puck. There is a good size gap that allows the puck to slide out. It happened to me in a game the other night, i covered the puck on the side of the net and went to slide it in front of me and my glove stopped and the puck kept sliding out in front of the net. luckily, nothing came of it but its not the only time I've had issues with the gap. Will it get better as the glove breaks in or is this a 580 thing? So far i like the glove and the closure just getting adjusted to the new break and getting the glove worked in. I'm just more mindful when covering the puck and don't move my glove around until the whistle.

I've noticed this too with my Vapor 90. There's been a couple times that I was sure I had it covered, but I didn't quite have the ice seal I thought  I had. That and the pocket shape isn't quite the same as a CCM/True 580. I'm now debating moving back to a US-style catcher when the new Shadow launches.

  5. I've been getting pro palms and reinforced tees on my Bauers since Ultrasonic (so four models - US, HL1, Mach, HL2) and never had much of an issue breaking them in. I always put them in a baseball glove steamer - not too hot and for no more than 3 minutes - work it while it's warm and then tying it up at night. Plus the standard working-with-it-while-watching-some-TV. Always works great for me.

Did the same with all my CCMs (EF4, Axis 2, EF5), also ordered with pro palms and it worked great. The 580-break Axis 2 was especially good - it wowed a lot of customers and spawned more than a few custom orders.

I'm surprised you're having issues with Brian's - even their top of the line stuff isn't bad out of the box. The worst of the catchers off-the-shelf are the CCMs.

Is the sidewall shape in the side by side there possibly determined by the finger protection style? I thought that was the case for True gear.

I didn't take a picture, but the bottom glove is the SR 7X3, which has "595" embroidered on it. I think the index finger protection does tweak the sidewall a little bit - that sounds familiar.

Always appreciate Lefebrve catalogues. They generally do a great job at showing off their options and how they differ. Except what's different with the 615 Hazardous blocker. As far as I can tell, it's just a slight revision of the side board.

Looks like the Hazardous is a 20.2 with a Catalyst thigh rise. That's pretty much what we all expected right?

The Catalyst 7X3 INT has the 615 blocker sidewall.

    20231231_160830.thumb.jpg.f4cb8ef426f8ec4565c611ce4b5adf9f.jpg

But the sidewall looks a little different from the custom catalog. The 7X3 615-INT doesn't have a gap between the front board and sidewall. But according to the catalog, it seems to have the same dip as 595 and 595 with binding. Plus the shape of the sidewall is different at the top of the blocker.

EDIT: The bottom blocker is 7X3 SR.

    So who knows?!?

Here's a better view of all the colour zones.

Looks like there's 5 different colour zones plus the thin vertical line.

Good eye. 6 main zones, plus others (logos, welting, knee/calf, etc).

Who knows, he may be wrong about the timing. Or he may have meant that's when they'll be able to ship mine. I guess we shall find out. Have you heard any news or seen any products?

I'm hearing customizer launch in April and retail launch in May.

Does anyone know when the shadow customizer is going to be released?

Hyperlite 2 customizer came out on 3/15 last year, so hopefully they'll keep the same date this year.

  11. I assumed Bauer just makes it NHL-legal in whatever respect it needs to be. All the retail stuff is its own beast in terms of whether its actually NHL-legal or not (retail Mach leg pads vs custom Mach leg pads).

AFAIK, all AHL/NHL gear is shipped direct from the manufacturer to Kay Whitmore's office for him/his office to give their approval. I know that's how CCM does it, I've seen those invoices.

  12. Had mine since 2017.

All the elastics - waist and the elastics on the knee pads themselves - are getting stretched out. I almost never get hit on the knee so I don't know how much protection has changed since I first got them, but they feel fine.

Opted for EVA foam instead of gel and had her attach it all to a garter belt. I hear the gel is heavy though.

Had one break and have gotten nothing from the rep (to the shop in my area) thus far. I guess I should just go through Bauer directly or something?

I taped mine together with sock tape and it's been totally fine.

I e-mailed Bauer directly (warranty.US@bauer.com). They asked for a picture, and then gave me a return shipping label for the broken buckle. Pretty painless. I think my first buckles broke within 3-4 months of getting the skates new. Got that replaced, then the buckle on the other skate broke. Haven't had issues with the replacements, so it seems whatever the flaw was, it was been remedied. Only issue I have now is the lower rack seems to wiggle a bit more than I would like.

Different ones. I got one replacement from Bauer but it took me like 2 months and multiple emails.  The second by sheer luck from the goalie guy at my not so local monkeysports. Funny enough, that was a few weeks ago before I needed it. I asked since I was there and figured a spare would be good. Glad I did because I'm not sure on how long it would take bauer again.

BTW, the epoxied one worked just fine. I'll probably do the same with the newly broken one and use them as emergency backups.

Did you have any issues with the replacement? Or is that one still going strong?

As for the broken buckles, I've had them break twice in the same exact way. One side of the wire pops out of the holder. Fixable with epoxy but it loses some flex. I blame my fat feet.

When they broke, did you get replacements from Bauer? Or did you epoxy it and it broke again? Just curious.

So, based on no branding on the neck piece of this one it's likely the beefier model?

It seems to be different with the CCM ABPros. It was the case with the Reebok P1s and is the case with the CCM AB18s and the new AB22.

There are some NHL-issued units that have the branding at the neck. TheGoalieCrease was selling some NHL units with and without the branding.

It appears the process has evolved

What's dumb is that the scanner has to use the front-facing camera, so you (the scanner) can't see whether you got the customer's foot in the rectangle or not and adjust on the fly. As the scanner, you're kinda just relying on your positioning from experience doing previous scans with the selfie stick as well as the dinging sound the app makes.

Our store has an iPad to scan with so the whole scanning stick and iPad is a big unwieldy.

Are those knee rolls indented stitch lines or just graphics?

I assume it is just like G6 below, so whatever that one is!

Same as it's been since the G3.

Remember when the G3 had three different graphic options?

Standard, Classic, and International (may be wrong on the naming of the third one). Standard and Classic we're the typical offerings from Warrior, but the "international" purposefully didn't include graphics on the face of the pad, just the outer roll, as it was designed to be covered up in advertisements.

    Good times.

I don't 'member this at all!

I'd probably go full Tampa on this set.   My new team is black/neon green, but I just don't see myself buying gear to match that nonsense.   I loved the big white five hole on my old G5 set and just realized I did it again here.   :/

All of you guys are going with a white boot area so I had to post one with an opposing style.
