  1. Came across this one catalogue online. The pro stock sticks at the back always drew me down there. At that time they were only place to get the real and same sticks the goalies were using in the NHL. I bought Snow, Kolzig, Giguere, Ouellet we some of the stick models I remember getting down there. 2. 1975 to 2019, there were the 1st original goalies only store that sold strictly goalie equipment. Honestly without them I don't think we would have seen the other stores that sell strictly goalie equipment open. I would love to make one last trip down to the store. They had some amazing goalie memorabilia on the walls.
  3. Heard the news a few days ago Don Simmons Sports is shutting down. Right now everything on sale, Mark's retiring and the business is ending for good on March 30th. Sad day, my 1st every set of pads Forrester air tecs came from Simmons in the early 90's. I remember when I went in there for the 1st time, I honestly thought I had gone to goalie equipment heaven. Back in the early 90's they were the only goalie equipment dedicated store in the world. I loved getting there catalogues in the mail every year, my parents use to wait for my wish list when there arrived. I used to make trips down there when I need new gear or sticks as they were the place to go. It's a sad day to see them go, but I wish Mark and all the staff all the best in retirement and the future.
  4. So went the opposite way with my lace, I put the knots in the front and gorilla glued the knot together. I haven't had any issues with it. I did it that way so i would have the smooth side against my skates.
  5. No he doesn't. All his stuff is based of the Lefereve and Bauer 960/1 shells.
  6. Most of the big brands prevent cross border shopping on there gear. Unless you have a friend or relatives who address you can ship to to. I tried to order some pro return sticks from goalie monkey USA a couple of years ago and they cancelled the order as they couldn't ship them out of the USA. Only the smaller brands let the folks from south border buy up here. Also once you get into personal shipping away from stores and company's you lose out on any deal as the shipping rates can be alot higher. Canada Post just jaked there rates up, after there lovely strike and UPS/FedEx are an absolute joke when it comes to shipping over the border. When the strike was going on I sold a pair of pads to a person in Manitoba, the cheapest courier rate I could find from Ontario to there was $125.
  7. https://www.prohockeylife.com/collections/senior-goalie-sticks/products/sher-wood-bpm-150-sr-goalie-stick-black-silver?variant=12121673039946 Sherwood BPM 150 stick $270 stick for 50% off. Picked up one myself. Sadly PHL will only ship within Canada
  8. A tip wih the leather ends is to find some snowseal or other beeswaxed bases leather protector it with soften them up and make them last a long time. I used snowseal and hair dryer on mine when I got them .The heat will melt the wax into the fibres and you don't have to worry about the leather getting damaged from moisture. I only did mine the one time and they still fine.

    New Team, Old Gear

Hell don't let them know that or they well come looking for you...lol
  10. Just use the normal suspender buttons on your pants, everything lines up great. I will get a picture later on as am at work right now.
  11. Wow, that's alot. John's original design came from my Duluth trading suspenders when I brought them in to get new pants. https://www.duluthtrading.com/mens-duluth-trading-button-suspenders-21125.html?dwvar_21125_color=NVY#q=Suspenders&lang=default&start=4 $20 and am going on 10 years with zero problems.
  12. Just picked up a pair of custom Bauers through a friend. I more or less got them because they have the black cowlings on them, in case something happens to black cowlings on my own custom Bauers. I may swap the steel out through as my own have regular Step steel and the ones I just got have Step black steel. Bauer won't sell me the black cowlings by themselves unless I do another custom order for skates, and chances of me doing that again are slim.
  13. Yeah I checked that one out and they don't have the selection the US one has and asked before and they won't bring something from the US site for me if I can't order it off that site. I honestly wish they would stock the same stuff but the Canadain one doesn't.
  14. I was told arm floaters and elbow padding is Sub 3. I only seen pictures so far and it will be January before I get it ,as it' coming from western us to northern ontario.
  15. Just bought this off Sideline Swap, made for Eddie Lack it's a mix of Brian's Gnetik II/Subzero 3. Once I get it my Brown 2300 is going in for a refurb after 7 or 8 years (I can't remember).
  16. Yeah I was like you, the 1x pads didn't really blow my mind but I did slide a little bit better then I did in my Sub 2 pads with weave on the inside. Last week 1st game with the 2s pads, I almost ended up in the corner. I went to do a butterfly slide and was like holly crap am not going to stop. My defense asked me what a sprayed on my pads as I was sliding/moving so much quicker. I can even tell the durability is alot better with 2s, I know they did alot of improvements with the 1x, but they went ever further with the 2s.
  17. No worries, I had also picked up pair of custom Bauer skates with black cowlings he had up the other day but am not in rush with them so I told him Canada Post was fine. It cost me $50 more to ship the pads with UPS but atleast I got my pads in a reasonable time. Am just getting items now from Canada Post I bought in October. Heads up for next time, he is also in Instagram too and usually you can get a better deal with through there with him
  18. Nice pick up from Kyle. How did you get him to send them ? If they are coming Canada Post you probley looking at Jan 2019 delivery as they removed all the delivery guarantees and are saying 4 weeks is the average for large parcels. When I got my 2s pads, I have Kyle UPS the, for $50 more and had them in 5 days.
  19. Picked myself up a pair of Bauer 2s pads (labelled 1s) through sideline swap. Originally seen them this summer on Kijiji being sold by a goalie school in Nova Scotia who only used them for one week. I had picked up a set of Vapor 1x pads the week before so I passed on them. I ended up selling the Vapors 2 weeks back and getting these finally as the price was way too good to pass up. Once I got them, I cleaned all the marks off them and they look almost new. I posted a before and after shots of them. Now I just need to find some long boot straps and short crs straps as these came with long crs straps and short boot straps. The one thing I find different with the newer material used in the 2s pads is how much more they slide vs the original material on the Vapor 1x.
  20. Order arrived from Goalie Parts -Maltese Diecut gel for Bauer 960 mask, was a fluke that I came across it. I bought a set of the blue gel with the chin sling on here and then got a message about the diecut gel on goalie parts. They where clearing out the diecut gel really cheap. -EcoFoam chin sling -Stainless mask hardware -Monster Kewl sweatbands , was suppose to be Goalie parts spec Micro band without the Maltese gel in and extra Micro Fiber. Don't seem to have them listed along with most other Monster stuff on there site anymore. Wanted to try the Micro band out with out the maltese in but I guess am going to have to give these things a try even though I didn't order them.
