  1. Fake ice > no ice. Nice buy! How Is the sliding out of the box? And did you buy any of that slide spray?
  2. Looks like an original VH 1-piece model (see silver rivet on the toe) so these likely have some mileage. That said, they rubberized the toe piece on the gen 2 True model so maybe that was the reasoning for that design mod. I have gen 2 True model and the toe caps look great after a year of regular use. like anything else, big X factor is always care. I wipe them down after every skate and hang dry without the insoles. So far no repairs needed.
  3. I've seen a bunch of interest from time to time on here for regional adult goalie camps as there just aren't that many options for us beer leaguers in most markets (I'm in lower New England/NYC Metro area and don't see many options by me). Even if there were 15-20 guys on here in each region that would sign up for a 2-3 day weekend camp maybe once or twice a year that would be very interesting to a lot of us on here and likely to some goalie school/instructors. Seems like the Michigan and Boston area guys are covered by a lot of camps (parts of Canada too I'm sure), but I haven't seen many adult camp options by me so maybe most markets are covered? Not sure. @TheGoalNet Is this something you've thought about doing in the past? You'd be delivering attendees to these regional instructors so I'm sure they'd be thrilled. Of course theres some leg work to coordinate, etc. but maybe that would be something a bunch of guys on here would be into? @SaveByRichter35 @seagoal Didn't you guys mention at times that you were looking for something like this? Just getting the conversation started any guys in the same region would be interested in figure something like this out. Bumped to add voting poll
  4. 100% agree, the active hands / hands out in front has been a big help for me since the original post. I'm pretty comfortable with my hand speed/reaction time (can always be better though lol). But what I've sort of learned about my game a bit (from Live Barn mostly) is that I tend to be more reactive than proactive - which can work for me up to a certain skill level. Meaning, when a shot is released off the blade I'm usually not already moving to a butterfly. It's maybe halfway to me when I've tracked it and start a move. Once you start skating with guys that can place shots with a quick/sneaky release then you really need a mix of proactive/re activeness to your game. What I mean is my"reaction time" and "reflexes" can bail me out but usually, but not always when the skill level is higher. Then I need to have that good angle, good body control and good positioning (active hands out in front, body lean, crouch). When i'm playing higher level skates, and my hands drop on a break away or cross ice pass, my reaction speed / accuracy has to be that much quicker and better to get my glove up if the shots going top shelf. If I had a active / higher glove already on the crease slide then my next glove reaction doesn't need to be as severe or maybe its already in the right spot.
  5. Great ideas @Ross @CJ Boiss ! I skated in a medium paced pickup last night and found success with the pronounced glove position (little higher and out front). In hindsight I think I was subconsciously focusing on my lateral move if they came with speed and tried to deke to a side - which I think led to a lazy/lower glove hand pre-shot. I have a high level skate tonight so I'll get to practice some of this at full speed. OR, I can just get @bunnyman666 to make me a clone of his retro vaughn trapper
  6. Could just be an off-week of playing for me but there's been a trend of giving up a few too many goals on one-on-ones to my high glove side. I have regular glove hand and the shots have all been on breakaways or 2 on 1s where the skater gets the puck free and clear of defenders at top or mid circle and walks in alone. I'm not trying to beat myself up given most of these were undefended 1 on 1 situations with decent to high level shooters, but still I think I'm at a point where I should be stopping a higher % of these. I'm thinking its my glove hand positioning but interested to see how others train for this type of shot/move on 1 on 1 situations.
  7. Nice unit. Topi mocked one up for me a little while ago, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have suspenders from him with floater straps and absolutely love them. Great, great quality and really nice guy to deal with. What was the pricing on this spec?
  8. only busting chops! My Gen2 c/a is big for today’s standards. man, I go back and forth with buying a vintage Koho set someday but I think it’ll be pure nostalgia buy. The modern specs are just too good. Have you demo’ed a modern set just to compare?

sweet retros (that heaton blocker looks mint!!) how long have you had that garth snow pro return chestie?
  10. I was thinking this too but then I remembered that anything is better than making the goalie “stack the pads”. Hey coach, how about the goalie just stands up like everyone else?!
  11. This topic reminded me of a similar thought I had recently. For those of us without GoPros (most of us?), what about a thread where you can post your rink name/location and date/time for someone to check out your gear in action on LiveBarn? Maybe LiveBarn even lets you post a direct shortcut link?
  12. Congrats, good looking set. For what it’s worth, my OCD wants to see you to repeat the larger quarter star on the mitts...
  13. Very cool set, congrats! I favorited these the moment they popped up on IG! Very interested to see these out on the ice if you ever post an action shot.
  14. @Punisher GoalieNice lid!!! Love mine so far and couldn’t agree more re Ron and team. @TitanGYou definitely can but that bumps you to “full custom” territory (i.e. any shell mod). I’m sure it’s a range from stock price but Ron could tell you pretty quick I’m sure.
  15. Little between periods "action" and the closest I can get to a decent pic of my setup via LiveBarn's graining zoom footage.
  16. Stock 906 pro shell mold w custom foam based on measurements and headshots (front and side profile). I’m sure Ron would be happy to dive into his methodology on how he gauges the custom foam sizing but all I can say is it’s a very comfortable, dialed in fit for me. I did explore a custom shell, which they do, but I didn’t personally need any reinforcements or design tweaks. I loved the look of the stock shell and I don’t see pro level shots. There would be an up charge for that from what I gathered.
  17. Waiting for me at the house! Can’t wait to try it on but based on the pics I’m sure it’ll be amazing. Huge shout out and thanks to @ron@covetedmask.com For going above and beyond on this. Check him out if you’re looking for a new lid, artist and class act!!
  18. @Max27 only busting on you. Good on ya young fella! Can’t teach height!!!
  19. Do I see custom 12” Step Steel??!?
