Just a little yes, looks more disappointing and a very expensive unit

Also got to try on the 2S chesty yesterday. Felt great! Arms were nice and flexible right away (passed the finger to nose test easily) and didn’t feel boxy or overly stiff in the shoulders like the 1S did.
Excited to hear the @TheGoalNet review after some use. As I’ve been throwing around the idea of a new chest protector after getting more stingers and even a deep bone bruise in my elbow with my V7 XF. The 2S is probably the only other contender with the VE8 NHL spec right now.
Nice chesty yes, but I can't justify $675 CDN for that, nothing has changed from the 1S, it looks like my NXG just lighter, and my NXG is holding like a bull after 3-4 years. I would rather have more coverage with the ccm premier chesty and pay less.

@Znowleopard@mr_shifty1982, unfortunately I haven't purchased a set yet. That's going to have to wait for a bit as life happens. lol. The gear I got to try was from one of my local hockey shops that has a demo program for equipment. I probably would go with the same size (i.e. 35+2) as my P1s are a bit big. But as requested, here's a pic of the gear I got to try (taken from their instagram).
What size are your P1s? How did these compare?
-
@Lurch thanks bud, I did order a custom set. Went with a 34+1 my P1 were a 33+2. You go with the same size for both?
I tried a demo pad and even though it was straight I did notice the speekskins and they made a very small difference. I wasn't going to get it but I did under the pad only. The rest jenpro.
I went single break internal but not out. My P2 after a year and a half of use look like a double break in and out lol and it's only a single. I also went with a stiff boot cuz the pad looks way too soft and I'm scared that after a year will just break and shrink.
Post some pics for sure!

@Simscityy you wore the CCM Premier of last years model?
Thinking of going that route as well.

Set looks good. Happy to see some black. Graphic is a bit boring but maybe that's your thing. My only real complaint would be the white thigh rise and boot lacing. Why in the blue hell would they have not used black lacing?
Black marker can fix that lol
-
@Znowleopard looking good man! I went with the same setup but with white sticking, Corey Crawford inspirited, but all black in the leg channel as well. Let us know how it went on the ice with the sizing and all.

@TheGoalNet few weeks with the P2s any opinions so far?

It would cost me about $130 CAD to ship some of my old leg pads to the east coast (from the west coast) of Canada. You'd be looking at more than that for overseas, let alone travel from any major port from there.
You'd be better off buying them locally I think.
No, here in Canada they like to take advantage of our own people, we pay more for shipping than they do in the States sadly. It might cost just as much, who knows. Find out @Znowleopard

So I'm looking to get the Premier 2.9 leg pads, currently I'm wearing bauer reactor 4000 In a size 35+1, should I go for the same size for the ccm's? Also why ARE THEY 900 EUROS HERE IN EUROPE AND ONLY 700 EUROS IN THE US, that triggers me big time haah
Perhaps due to the exchange rate? When I went on Friday to Pro Hockey life to try on the new CCMs there was a dad and his daughter from the States looking at pads, all because of the exchange rate I suppose and maybe the big hockey market.

And many members here are in top of the line Bauer's (myself included) and haven't had a crack. Sounds more like a manufacturing defect to me, but hey, you got the mask for free (still trying to figure that one out) so it's all good right?
You kind of remind me of awgoalie who claimed that Warrior was a shit tier company because he was using and INT C/A and was claiming that shots from full grown men we're bruising him, lol.
I think that kid is on something, don't pay any attention to him....those masks don't crack just like that unless NHL players are looking for your head all game

@Lucky Pucker keep on having fun! I still have this fear of not being able to play and I'm 36, all those years missed! I'm pretty good at it shocking, health will be #1

It's Friday so I thought I say hello, I will try to keep this short but I can't promise you that...
Born and raised in Israel with a European backgrounf, came to Toronto when I was 11 years old. Played mostly soccer back home and some basketball until I saw the game of hockey, and of course at that time Felix the Cat Potvin! Fell in love with the sport right away, at that age my parents thought I was crazy even thinking to learn the game, skate, etc. so I took up baseball/softball and kicked all the Canadians ass in soccer during lunch time. I did skate when I was around 13/14 but I wasn't very good at it, heck I couldn't stop.
Years go by and I'm playing street hockey, got my goalie equipment for gym class and everyone started noticing me, but still, it was nothing compare to now.
Fast forward to the age of 27/28, walking with my ex at the park I see ice outside, thought to myself....why not buy skates and see if I can do anything....so I got skates and went on...could skate fairly well and stop (wow, I can stop?) I was a bit surprised. I got this crazy idea to go buy player equipment and take up hockey......went out on boxing day, bought everything and started to take power skating lessons at York University. Did 10 classes and started to play summer and winter hockey at the lowest level. It was hard, hard to compete with guys playing since the age of 5.....BUT it was my dream, to always be in net....I had that urge from a young age. During the Christmas break our team rented ice and I put on my goalies team equipment, obviously due to size issues I wasn't comfortable, and it was a bit strange but interesting...however I was on a mission!! A mission to be a goalie, let's be honest this player thing wasn't working out. I didn't score in 2 seasons even though I did get a bunch of assists.
Went to Dukes and got myself goalie equipment, started playing pickup hockey at a low level, slowly joined a league, found another team (won 2 leagues in 4 years) and now I play B/C level. With no coaching, mostly playing, watching videos I'm very proud of what I've accomplished and all of you should as well if you just started.
I gave up on all the other sports (except beach volleyball) because hockey is in my blood, I play all year long! Been on the ice for 8 years now and going strong!
My name is Niv, you pronounce is Neeev

Ah, I went with the precurve and single inner... but looking at those I almost wish I went straight like that.
I went on the ice yesterday, the straight pad is no good! Even with a break. Can't close my 5hole properly. Unless you are made of rubber band haha I was very much tired after say 40 minutes on the ice due to how stiff they were and the extra energy I took out.
The speed skins do make you slide better which changed my mind before I order my pad at the end of the month, I will get the bottom in speed skins.
I didn't feel them to be that much lighter on the ice, maybe the stiffness had something to do with that lol. I will for sure go with a pre-curve, single inner no outer.

Injuries of the trade

7 years in net,
2 groin pulls, 1 was pretty bad (Going with a SO to the 3rd but lost in a shootout) the other not so much.
In January I had a freak accident, I was on the butterfly when a player landed on me and I hyper extended my knee, I heard so much noise I thought I broke something. It was the worse experience of my life! I probably tore my mcl/acl, I'm not a doctor but something was affected for sure. I was off the ice for a month, I went for a skate and still had some discomfort with certain movements like extending my leg. I got back on the ice for a game after a month and a half but I felt a little scared just because of my knee....it wasn't easy but I did it. Over 4 months now and I'd say that I'm 95%. I didn't end up going to the doctor because I was healing but slowly.
Stretch before your games, at least 10 minutes I do every game, it will prevent some injures.
