Isn't a day the virtual equivalent of an eternity for a teen? LOL! As far as this joke, well, I think you can do better, Dude; you've had other funny (and funnier) posts before. But if you insist on perpetuating this as "your thing," I'm gonna have to call you "ThatApplianceGuy" Your move, Maytag Man

First shut out today! ...for my son. Kid’s been playing for 3 weeks, and already gets a clean sheet - lol! That’s him in the picture Well, he’s underneath the pile of team mates anyway.

...and it didn't hurt! Or maybe yours did...(?) Been thinking about doing this thread for a while. Not sure if it will take off, but I was thinking we could put a bunch of "firsts" in here: First shutout first smashed stick first penalty first goalie fight first goal first shot to the nuts First time a non-goalie noticed your new gear First pick up after pick up Those are just suggestions though - be creative. Last night I got called to sub in a buddy's +35 league for the second time. I got 3 firsts in that one: my first shootout (it was 2-2 after regulation, and they don't have ties in this league) my first league win! first time I cashed in my "player of the game" voucher for a free beer

Well, shit @MTH - You knew this post was gonna get a guaranteed "like" from me!

Eh...disagree. For example, today, I have my own weekly game, and my son has a tournament - all while it's about -30 Celsius with the windchill. there's nothing special, or magical, or romantic about that; it's just a shit ton of suck. ...but for hockey, totally worth it! I used to scoff at people using seat warmers/heated seats. Both my cars have those now - and I even use them myself after sitting and watching my son's games.
-
LOL - I do have more than 9, and a big enough vehicle for all the empties, so I guess I'm good.
-
Jealous of your cars? Nah (though it must be nice to be in a climate where you don't have to worry about road salt accelerate rust and corrosion) Jealous of @SaveByRichter35's beer fridge? Hellz yeah.
-
I'm thoroughly surprised that so many people have pictures of their vehicles, ready for quick posting!

Santa Fe XL. I fit my gear, my sons gear, my wife and daughter's stuff, as well as presents and luggage for our Xmas trip out of town - with myself and 4 passengers seated comfortably! well... comfortably before playing, at least...

Now accepting donations, @seagoal !

Thanks! His first game was Saturday, and while one slipped through the wickets on a screen from the high slot, his team won 8-1. The Atom team from the same club was watching the end of the 3rd, and when my son made a big save, they all cheered, banging the glass and chanting his name! He skated out A LOT for a 7-year old, well beyond the crease and right into the corners... my heart was in my throat. He usually plays defence though, so that combined with being a bit bored, well... he went for a skate a few times. One time he came out to the side, by the face off circle, and cool as you like, just routinely stopped it with his stick for his returning d-man. Another Dad said "I've never seen that in Novice!" LOL! When I asked him after why he came out so much - to include negating icing a few times - he said "that's what they do in the NHL." Pic of him with his team in warmup. Lucky kid gets to do this without worrying about some knob going bar-down on him...

Loving this thread. Great idea, @MTH!

My son is the goalie for January for his Novice team, so we got the club's gear over the holidays. Rented some discount ice, and worked him out a bit. The grin on this kid's face after... just priceless! I love that he's having so much fun with this. (BTW - club uses LAK colours, so all his gear will match for the games )

My old buddies and I decided to rent ice at a 3-on-3 rink on the 28th, for a family and friends game/skating clinic. Had a blast! We’re hoping this will be an annual affair. A few action pictures, to legitimize posting in this thread (warning: none of these make me look good). my son is in the white Habs jersey with neon green stick tape and skate laces. Fuckin trooper, that kid; found out after that he had a fever and a lymph node infection! My daughter will be playing in March, but was just skating this day. She’s in the dark pink snowpants and dark blue jacket.

Ok, so I don’t have a dedicated fridge... BUT, my on-hand beer selection ain’t too shabby either. ...and this is just a sampling; some didn’t make the cut for the pic - but will be drunk mercilessly all the same -LOL!
-
That's not entirely true; he does appreciate a good 1994 joke...

You feckin dirty bastard... I see a ton of pics on this site that make me envious, but this one is making my stomach knot in jealousy. I'm gonna need your address, SBR - you can't possibly drink those alone (and I have serious doubts that you'd appreciate them if you did...) (Me at the border) Border Guard: Where are you headed? Me: Uh... A beer fridge, somewhere in New York. There's this goalie online who posted a pic of some sweet NEIPAs, and I'm going to help him drink them. Border Guard: I'll arrange a police escort for you, sir. Me: Nice one! I'll bring you a few cans of Heady Topper on my way back for your trouble.

I am also digging sours -and my wife loves them too, so she has been buying some pretty nice special bottles lately!

A Radler is a mix of a lighter beer (usually a lager) with juice (usually grapefruit). The story goes that some cyclists came up with it in Europe when they wanted a drink that wouldn't get them drunk, but still refresh.

This. Exactly this. What's the feckin point otherwise? Chocolate stouts can be pretty good - it's not like drinking a chocolate bar or anything. I've got one from Flying Monkeys Brewery that i'll probably crack with my wife on New Year's eve. Come to think of it, I've tried a lot fo flavoured beers - but I draw the line at hot pepper/Jalepeno stuff. I'm afraid it will just numb whatever other flavours are going on there.
-
Oh, I remember the hipster convos - I definitely poured some (beard) oil on that fire! LOL! So Heady Topper kinda kicked off the whole NEIPA thing several years ago. It is pretty frickin good - and you HAVE to try it if you can get some. But that being said, I never personally thought of it as "the best IPA I've ever had". I love Sip of Sunshine by Lawson's Finest Liquids - another must try if ever you get the chance! Same for Cloud Drop, by Upper Pass. BTW, the custom-built Alchemist brewery is really something to visit. Basically, you take a road, until it turns into a dirt road, turn left at the third farm, turn right at the cow, and out of nowhere you see this huge modern building in the middle of farm fields - LOL!
