  1. Yeah, when I was16 my friend's "mother" put their Nova into a row of mailboxes and took out the front end...except that 4 years later it came out that it was really him that was piloting the "postal plough"
  2. Pffft - sucks to be you - I'm 5' 7" - all I need is shown below
  3. What did the leper say to the hooker? ...ahhh I better not....
  4. @MTH: I hear he passed on the train rail...
  5. When you say the "nut end" I assume you mean the side opposite what we see in your pic (?) If it is round two things you can try: 1. File some small flats on the "nut" heads so you can grab it better (hopefully you can do that without abrading the material -perhaps slip a very thin piece of sheet metal between the edge of the file and the pad material) 2. Use a pair of vice grips to hold the nut. If you can do that, don't be kind about it - set them so it's essentially at your limit of hand grip to get them to lock on Of course option 3 is the combination of 1 & 2 HIH, good luck, and let us know what heppens
  6. Depend on the type of Lock-tite. There is a specific solvent for one type. Also apparently acetone (nail polish remover) will work, but be careful what else it gets on
  7. Yes - you are correct -I was splitting a few hairs with my comment. As with you, I have a number of dents in my (mild steel) cage, but don't see it as a risk.As per some other comments, I would probably be more concerned if it was titanium- it's tricky to weld and is a harder material. TBH I doubt I would ever own a Ti cage - I'd rather have the cage dent more freely and absorb the shock. But one point you mentioned should be reinforced: the comment "... its not going to have the same effect as working it over enough that it snaps." Yes for anyone that feels the urge, you have more chance of damaging the cage if you try to hammer the dents out - better to leave sleeping dogs lie.
  8. Agree on all but one point: anytime metal is bent (plastically deformed) it work hardens to some extent. That makes it slightly harder but slightly more brittle. When you bend a piece of metal back and forth 'til it breaks you are successively work hardening it 'til it becomes brittle enough to snap.
  9. I got boxes of them - what are you, an anti-masker?
  10. Hey all: Thanks for this discussion up to this point - very interesting and informative. @Puckstopper - interesting to hear the rules and reasons in an area outside of hockey - thanks! Perhaps we could review the rule of thumb for replacing a cage - dent deeper than a bar diameter or ? Right now I have a couple of pretty good ones, but not really looking to replace it if I don't have to (and it's not being used much currently due to the state of the world ).
  11. But no previous experience with OTNY? I know certain motorcycle helmet manufacturers absolutely prohibit any kind of aftermarket paint or stickers on their helmets. In any case I think contacting OTNY is your best first step...
  12. Some questions: First: You said you “the guy” has done lots of wraps for you – has he done OTNY’s before? Per @johncho's comment there could be all sorts of reactions happening. Did you discuss with OTNY first? Second: Is that really a wrap? It appears someone used tape or layers or some sort of adhesive material. I would assume most commercial wraps have been designed (and tested) not to react with mask/helmet material. If someone is using generic materials, there’s no guarantee there won’t be issues. Third: There seems to be some cracks propagating from the cage screw hole- not sure if that's a result or a cause of the issue. Fourth: Have you discussed this with OTNY? I am sure they would be interested if for no other reason than to ensure the safety of their clients past and present.
  13. Well, I missed 8 months of hockey, got 3 games in and then it all shut down again as per @Wonder35's comment above. Especially at my age I would like (more like need) to get in every game I can and the rinks being shut down is a major disappointment. It's a more bitter pill that it happened largely because a group of turds couldn't keep it in their pants, or in this case, their province. But that's that hand that's been dealt and I go with it. The only issue I have with it is a bunch of pussies crying because they have to wear a mask for 5 minutes while going into a store (i.e have consideration for someone other than themselves) and how their civil rights are being abused and this is a big conspiracy and blah blah. It's a mask for F's sake - no one said you had to strap an 80 lb bag of cement and walk around with it all day - grow a backbone.
  14. ...meanwhile somewhere in Northern England, some sports reporter's house has just been burned to the ground
  15. I heard he also recently went with an oldtimer hockey team to play in a tournament in Alberta
  16. Rev'y can't be that far from you @coopaloop1234 - time for a road trip

    The kids or the beer?
  18. Well at least I got to play 3 games since March.....and now.. . Yeah thanks to all who made this (im)possible
  19. Wow - had the exact opposite experience. Paid $175 CDN for my Vaughn wheeled bag 7 years ago. Front edge of the bottom (below the handle) ripped out in less than two seasons. I do not overfill my bag and always lower it out of the truck - no dropping or flopping down steps. Actually paid more for that bag as I wanted something that would last. Won't ever buy another Vaughn bag.
  20. Their site pops up with cost to buy in CA as $312 + $72 duty and tax – so close to $400 CDN before shipping. For that much they better be sending someone to carry it to and from the rink...
  21. Are you mostly at Weshills? Has hockey been shutdown now on SVI?
  22. Dear God - how many hands do you have???
