  1. No, no, no. That will be your decision. Ideally we should be able to try on various styles and manufacturers but that choice seems to be a rarity these days. Good luck on your quest ARG.
  2. A few years back I was ordering a set of Goal Pants from John Brown. I am 5'7", 165 lbs. John was reluctant to make them to my specs. I too wanted trimmer pants. His mantra was the bigger the better, affording more puck stopping area. Being a class act, Mr. Brown did indeed deliver exactly what I wanted, even though it meant reconfiguring his patterns. I found them comfortable, much less bulky and lighter, of course.
  3. My daily Yoga Routine was designed by a Physiotherapist following knee replacement surgery in January, 2018. It mainly consists of upper and lower body stretches (leg up the wall) plus some hip and knee rotations, mainly on my back and shoulder stretches. I double up on these for game days. My primary VooDoo juice is Voltaren Extra Strength Joint Pain. They also have a Voltaren Extra Strength Back and Muscle Pain. Is the term Extra Strength even valid if it's the only "strength" available?
  4. No cardiac history, no butterfly goal pads, no understanding of some of the terms I read on this site, but I play goal 2-3 times a week and was born in 1949 ...................
  5. Just before heading to the rink (7 minute drive) I do 20-25 minutes of Yoga, mainly stretches for the upper and lower body and then some deep breathing. I like to be in our dressing room at least one hour before the game. I dress slowly, no particular ritual, but when done I will do some brief stretching, more to be sure that my gear feels right. The whole time I am drinking from my bottle of sporthydration and it sits atop my net during our game. Once on the ice, I don't need more than 25-30 warm up shots, then it's game on. I rarely break from this routine.
  6. You do not want to use Shoo Goo. It is lumpy and will peel off.
  7. Alright, so maybe not "Action" shots, closer to Slo Mo. I was displaying my Johnny Bower Tribute jersey to my teammates (mostly Canucks followers) and one of the lads shot a few photos. My left winger, chap by the name of Marner, is 85 years young.
  8. Can't say that I ever have but it was all around the rinks when I was playing in Oshawa, Ontario, 1980's.
  9. Goalie Industry Changes Perhaps a smidgeon off topic but .......... every hockey tournament I ever played in the 1970's, 80's and 90's, was sponsored by a major brewery. We were festooned with hats, tee shirts, jackets and the like from Molson's, Labatts and even Anheuser Busch. Naturally, cases of their products came along with the wearable goodies. Does this even occur anymore?
  10. I made a killing refurbishing and reselling 12" pads. They were still legal in most recreational hockey leagues for years after the NHL banned them in 2009. On the average I was paying $200 a pair.
  11. Zoom ahead 25-30 years for my all time favourite set up. Head to toe plus C/A, jock and pants. Go ahead, label me a John Brown fan boi.
  12. Pre 1990's this was by far the best set of pads and gloves I ever wore, all leather. Rebounds died with 18 inches of me. Shots hardly ever popped out of that Trapper. Granted, heavier than today's gear (especially late in the game) but as a stand up goaltender there wasn't much up and down, playing on my knees type of movement. Sure, I use more modern equipment now, modern being a subjective term for me.
  13. My personal all time hockey commentator piss off is "He beat the goalie but hit the post!" Hey A-Hole, that's not even an official shot on net. Perhaps the post was all the tender gave him.
  14. Damn ……… they’re probably older than me.
  15. Please delete this listing as we are away and I no longer have access to the item. Thank you.
  16. We are leaving on the weekend to spend Christmas time with our family. All buy/sell transactions will be removed by then. Thanks much for your support TGN.
  17. I threw it on eBay but if no bites I will keep it. I acquired a never used, still packaged, Leaf Issued GC in Blue. I'm making it into a Johnny Bower tribute uni. He is the reason I was attracted to playing the position in the early 60's. Thus far, I have located some fabric pieces, including a pair of 1965 BOWER Tribute shoulder patches. It's a work in progress and I will wear it, no wall hanger here.
  18. As opposed to being a happy loser? But I digress, he is a wanker.
  19. chile57, Thank you for some direction. It was not my intention to create a ruckus.
  20. Does the sight of this jersey offend anyone out there? I say that because I just read a negative comment another website where this Tretiak jersey is also listed. When I designed it, maybe 10 years ago, I thought it looked cool. Tretiak was an excellent goalie, wearing his Cooper gear back then. I think that it is still a classic look from a few years later. I insisted upon using the Russian Dialect, Cryllic alphabet for all lettering. If a single person is uncomfortable or offended by these images of my GC Goalie Jersey For Sale - Holla and I will have the post removed.
  21. To all of you 70+ goaltenders out there ............. (crickets) Warmups All you truly need are some soft muffins into your pads, gloves and upper body (no headshots allowed).* * This is provided that you have spent at least 20 minutes of proper stretching before donning your gear, followed by another set of on ice exercises, to be sure that all gear is in place and comfortable. And this is what it looks like. It ain't pretty. I save all that other movement stuff for the game. These joints of mine have a limited number of down/ups over a 90 minute session. Everyone on the ice for our thrice weekly games is over 70, with a handful 80+. The kids emerges from everyone. We're still playing the game of our youths .................... Video-2.mov
  22. I had one of those, heavy as a brick.
  23. I don't know whether this is a Canadian thing, but I have used Renfrew tape for many, many years, good stuff. https://www.renfrewpro.com/renfrewhomepage/TapeIntro/hockey-stick-tape
