Breaking Buckles - CCM Premier Chest

Second time in 2 weeks I've had to replace the plastic side release buckle on my Premier Chest/Arm. The first break happened a while ago and I just taped it up... but I slapped a new one on last week and notice last evening must have been shattered at my Tuesday night skate. I can't say I felt either happen... but sorta strange that it has happened to the same one twice now. Pics below of the most recent break... and I'll likely re-engineer the closure to something less prone to failure. Anyone else have a similar experience with their C/A over the years?

What I saw when I went to put it on last night.. luckily there is secondary strapping that doesn't allow a broken buckle to make every too loose on the back plate...

Foresight told me to slap some velcro on this strapping when i had to cut it open last time to remove the female end...

Back to a functioning buckle (for a little while anyway)...

That's probably more annoying that it is anything else, hopefully this one stays working

Looks like the protective padding is lacking a little.

Yes to both. Maybe it’s left more vulnerable because I wear it untucked.

If anything, those little covers on top of the buckle must make it harder to change out the clips...

They're like "eff you" covers.

I looked at the 2017 version today.  They got rid of the clips!

Looks a little better if you are having really bad luck with buckles.

Essentially it's a D ring with elastic so you can keep most of your parts.  Just stitch opposing sides of velcro into the elastic and use the D ring to adjust tension.

Good deal. Thanks for checking out the latest model. I was thinking of just the D ring WHEN this one breaks. I’ll be sure to post when it happens as well.
