motowngoalie 222
Anyone else build a backyard rink this year (or in years past)? I scored a 20x40 Nicerink kit off of Craigslist for cheap, filling it tonight. It'll be good to get my two little guys out there for the first time

motowngoalie 222
Anyone else skating in their backyard this year...? Seems to be a lot more happening with rinks being closed, etc. Here's mine, 28x55. Dropping the liner and filling next week, hoping it'll be ready for Christmas/New Year's. 3
loki1416 45
I miss skating in the backyard. Grew up on a lake and we were out there every day. Major downside to living in the south!
MTH 848
We have a place in Maine. My kids skate on the pond in the back. I just shovel. There's an outdoor rink at the local high school that we use. Boards and all. Pretty rad to kids who live in south jersey.
RichMan 428
In Gatineau/Ottawa we've had some one day significant snow drops but as it warmed up it would melt quite a bit. There's still a no skating warning in effect for the Rideau Canal. The creek near my place looks way too sketchy to even try. Not even the odd parking lot puddle has shown promise. Aside 1 or 2 cold snaps in November, this winter has been pretty mild. Been great for running though Edited January 7 by RichMan
motowngoalie 222
Yeah it's been pretty warm here also. I filled early so the kids got to skate between Christmas/NY, but it's nowhere near thick enough for adults and too slushy for the kids now. I'm seriously considering refrigeration next year, it's not been too worthwhile the past few years for natural ice with all of the freeze/thaw (other than the Polar Vortex a few years ago). A.YOUNGoalie13 139
My ice got all bumpy with warmer temperatures and snow but its slowly coming back to a usable form
