Held a stick and it felt great for me. Seems like there is a little interference because you loose the flexibility of the Mach protection. The thumb piece is the Vapor thumb, so it’s not as angled towards the palm and not as flexible as the Old Supreme thumb. This is something I did not pick up on in my Mach Vs Shadow thread. If you’re unsure about it, Go in store and try the blocker with a stick and see how it feels! I've tried the mach on in store it felt good a little interference but not bad. I want the new back hand over the mach just wasn't sure about the side wall, but if you said it feels good then I'll probably just do the shadow. But the closest store to me that has goalie gear is three plus hours away so I can't really try on a shadow easily. I would get a vapor because thats what I've always had but when I tried the hyperlite2 on it felt horrible so not doing that. Quote

xmikex32 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 For you guys already using the shadow pads, i know they changed the stiffness to be more like the US is the shape/profile of the pad more curved like the US/M5's or still as straight as the Mach? Pictures make them look like they have a little bit more curve to them but then some look pretty straight. 1 Quote

The Shadows are as straight as my Mach, the UltraSonic had a more pronounced angle at the knee break. Pretty sure this applies to the stock shape too but I could be wrong! Quote

I wish they would stiffen up the sidewall on the Vapor 2-piece (1X style) blocker. Then it would be perfect. Quote
jack2900 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) Im about 6-8 weeks away from my Shadow order. Coming from Machs (which I really like) Im pretty excited about the Shadow series. I always wanted to try the 2-piece Blocker and since the Shadow looked a little clunky I thought now was the time to finally give it a go. Wondering what you Sahdow owners have to say about the stiffness and new features. Lost my last custom Machs in a house fire so I decided to troll the universe with my new graphics a bit. The wait is killing me. What have your most recent wait times been? Im praying they miraculously show up early... Edited August 5, 2024 by jack2900 3 Quote

Glad however, to see that you have rebounded (bad pun). Those look right up your alley. Before even seeing your name on the post I said to myself Gregory would love those . I've seen all your sets over the years and you're probably the only guy with the card series sets at least to my knowledge, so that's pretty unique. The fire is a funny touch and a big FU to the universe, love that. As far as wait times go I cannot help. I have a pair of Shadows myself. Although they were store ordered customs with mostly stock specs so I don't know the wait time on them from fully digiprinted customs. As far as the pads though it's a really nice set. Of all the sets I've been in recently (decent amount of them) they were the easiest to use right out of the box. Everything just works. With my Iconiks I had to do some custom strapping and adjust to the slide material. With my CCM F9's I had to also play around with the strapping a bit. My True PX3's I had to and still am working in the glove to get it to close as easily as I'd like, as well as some toe tie type of issues initially on the leg pads. The Shadows really just work so well, and NOTHING beats the pop of a Bauer blocker IMO. Glove closed like butter right from the start and the pads are great too. Little stiffer in the thighrise to me than the Hyperlite 1's I had. But less stiff in the same area than the Ultrasonics I had. Pic for reference. 1 Quote

These are amazing! As far as the digi-print, mine last year took 10 weeks because they printed them in the wrong color the first time, so they were originally on pace for 8 weeks. coopaloop1234 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 For the fellas with the Shadow blocker, how has the new sidewall been? Tempted to go back to Bauer but curious to see if the new sidewall is as bad as I'm imagining. Quote

I'll know in a week. @ZeroGravitas and @TheGoalNet and anyone else with the Shadow blocker, do you feel it is trash yes or no Quote

It was awkward the first several skates, especially the padding on the palm. Maybe I've gotten used to it, or maybe it's broken in, but I have no issues with it anymore. 1 Quote

Did the length of the sidewall catch on your pads at all in the beginning or was it mostly just how it felt holding the stick? Quote

The sidewall and the palm definitely did interfere with my grip on the stick. Especially when sliding my hand up or down the stick, it felt like I couldn't get my palm to return to the top of the paddle as I wanted it to. That issue is gone now. I haven't had issues with the blocker interfering with the pads, though. 1 Quote

I think HL2 had a slight edge over Shadow for me. Maybe the lack of the molded calf pillow on the inside makes it feel like the Vapor is shifting around, while the M5 feels more connected to your leg because that pillow is there? Quote
