  1. I almost have it back together. Just need to figure out this clutch slave cylinder funny business and a few other things. Once I get my dash to engine harness connector, it will run.

  4. Goals will be scored and those that have no idea of how the world of goaltending works will pass (often ill-informed) judgment onto you. I stopped caring a long time ago. Focus on the present. Unfortunately, we do not yet have time machines that would allow us to all have shutouts. Mistakes can facilitate progress if you identify and mitigate the respective issues.
  5. Yes. That is exactly why I made that statement.
  6. I used that quick slide material on my newest pair of V4's and it's one of the smallest changes I've made that had such a big effect. Much easier to do all those moves that the young cats do with those foam blocks strapped to their legs.
  7. Make sure you specify the colors for every section of the piece of equipment or it will probably come back white. Forgot to do it on my second pair of v4's, but did it on my third pair. Like others, I would also suggest getting primo/quickslide in high wear areas. I spec my leg pads to be soft (shredded foam soft) with no external breaks (stock dual internal) and no knee lock (so I can fit large knee pads) and the widest leg channel that can be put on it. Gives me a lot of mobility and I spend more time trying to stop pucks than fighting equipment.
  8. Do you have a pool? What I did with some of my larger stuff (C/A, pants) in years past was to put them in a laundry bag to protect them and stick them in a large commercial grade washing machine.
  9. When something like this happens and I have a guy very close to the crease with a puck and he has few reasonable options I do a few things. 1. Hold the line and wait for them to commit 2. Throw a fake poke to force him to commit to a deke and have even less time and space, 3. Fly out at him just before he receives the puck and gain a lot of depth. (works very well in certain situations, it freaks forwards out so they'll just shoot it straight into you or wide. I also noticed that you said that you are lined up to the player's body. (you probably know this) You should ideally be lined up to the puck and base your movements accordingly. Remember that when quick plays like this happen, the forward usually has no idea what they are going to do with the puck, and you can change the outcome rather easily.
  10. Personally, I would go standard as this unit is already one of the larger C/A's you can purchase in the standard configuration.
  11. What I mean is that you should take extra care to flex the arms when running the unit through the shower, as they will be one of the stiffest areas. I also took a skate lace and tied both arms in a flexed position to dry to expedite the break in process. The russian spec comes with extra bicep, rib protection and heavy plastic standard iirc. I personally would not do the shoulder lifts or wing extension, as I feel the unit is big enough as it is but if you feel like you can work with it, there would be no reason not to do so. No idea on the raised edges, as I have never used anything like that before.
  12. Hi, I have been using a 2400 russian spec since november of 2020. If you go this route, I suggest making sure that you have pants that are wide enough to fit the rib protection in if you do happen to tuck. Mobility is good once you run it through a few hot showers and move everything around. If you are sensitive to heat and weight, this may not be the best option, as mine (somewhere in between a medium and a large) weighs a little over 9 pounds dry, but that is something that you may be able to adjust to, as is the same deal with the heat that this thing retains. I like mine a lot more than the vaughn ve8 that I was previously using and it looks like it will hold up for about 20 years at the rate that I am using it.
  13. Let's put it this way, I won't even think about using anything else for leg pads, blockers and pants with the exception of Factory Mad. I heard from someone on one of the facebook groups that Vaughn told them that they won't make V4's anymore, so I may need to figure something else when the time comes to acquire another pair. (I think I got the last pair of 7600's before the allegedly ended production!) Cut and sewn logos are also a nice touch, but the upcharge is borderline outrageous. That said, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
  14. I wish! I am slowly piecing the brown set together, and have a V5 iceberg blocker on the way, but the glove likely won't match since I have converted to the 580 life and want california tan, so I have to go kenesky. I have a silver/navy(black?)/powder blue set of pads from the olden days that was purchased as a set, but the gloves have eluded me. Every single leg pad I have owned have the iceberg graphic
  15. You still use toe ties in 2021?! straps with toe buckles are all the rage these days!
  16. I keep extra mask hardware and stuff that I would otherwise need should something fail in my equipment bag. This season I will also be keeping my 3 pound box of mask and leg pad hardware in my locker room stall at the rink. Last year at a men's league game, I took a puck to the head that broke a plastic clip. Luckily for me, I had several more in my mask bag. In less than 2 minutes, I was back on the ice and we were playing again. Equipment repair on short notice is another goaltending related skill!
  17. Some great storage setups in this thread! I use a storage rack in my garage for my equipment at home, but I now play for a team that has their own locker room so my parents (specifically dad) want my junk out of their garage.
  18. I have had success using the Brown 2400 Russian spec at the college level. Great mobility once broken in and the fit is great.
  19. New additions for the season. Had to get navy pants to match my school team and also decided it was time for a new jock after 8 years with my Bauer Reactor and went with a more stylish option.
  20. Yep, that's a 580 double tee.
