  1. You feckin dirty bastard... I see a ton of pics on this site that make me envious, but this one is making my stomach knot in jealousy. I'm gonna need your address, SBR - you can't possibly drink those alone (and I have serious doubts that you'd appreciate them if you did...) (Me at the border) Border Guard: Where are you headed? Me: Uh... A beer fridge, somewhere in New York. There's this goalie online who posted a pic of some sweet NEIPAs, and I'm going to help him drink them. Border Guard: I'll arrange a police escort for you, sir. Me: Nice one! I'll bring you a few cans of Heady Topper on my way back for your trouble.
  2. I am also digging sours -and my wife loves them too, so she has been buying some pretty nice special bottles lately!
  3. Wow man - that is so cool that you have a pic with your Dad, in all your gear. Props, dude! "...not even close to be old enough to play beer league but I looked the part at least..." so you mean you had a bunch of empty beer cans around you in the locker room?
  4. A Radler is a mix of a lighter beer (usually a lager) with juice (usually grapefruit). The story goes that some cyclists came up with it in Europe when they wanted a drink that wouldn't get them drunk, but still refresh.
  5. This. Exactly this. What's the feckin point otherwise? Chocolate stouts can be pretty good - it's not like drinking a chocolate bar or anything. I've got one from Flying Monkeys Brewery that i'll probably crack with my wife on New Year's eve. Come to think of it, I've tried a lot fo flavoured beers - but I draw the line at hot pepper/Jalepeno stuff. I'm afraid it will just numb whatever other flavours are going on there.
  6. Oh, I remember the hipster convos - I definitely poured some (beard) oil on that fire! LOL! So Heady Topper kinda kicked off the whole NEIPA thing several years ago. It is pretty frickin good - and you HAVE to try it if you can get some. But that being said, I never personally thought of it as "the best IPA I've ever had". I love Sip of Sunshine by Lawson's Finest Liquids - another must try if ever you get the chance! Same for Cloud Drop, by Upper Pass. BTW, the custom-built Alchemist brewery is really something to visit. Basically, you take a road, until it turns into a dirt road, turn left at the third farm, turn right at the cow, and out of nowhere you see this huge modern building in the middle of farm fields - LOL!
  7. Welcome to AWESOME! Seriously though, I get that some people didn't love IPAs before; it used to be about brewers out-bittering each other, and jacking up the IBUs. Now the style - at least in the New England sub-genre - is about having something that actually tastes really good, does NOT necessarily punch you in the tongue with bitterness, and is sometimes reminiscent of juice! Was lucky enough to try the Julius from Treehouse since my last post. I'll have to look up some of the other ones you mention though. I'm no hipster either, as proven by my clean-shavedness, and the fact that I spend more on beer than I do on beard oil and ironic t-shirts.
  8. You think that's ominous for you? How do you think Rinne feels - if he even knows? "Hey coach, am I starting tonight or what?" "Well, um... no - you're a scratch." "Why am I a healthy scratch, coach?" "You're not a healthy scratch, Pekka, you're... gee, you really don't know, do you? Boy, this is awkward... I hate to be the one to tell you, but you're dead - says right on your sticks... and sticks don't lie! Well, they do lie. Sorta... like, they have a lie - 14 or something? i dunno, I never played goalie... Anyway, sorry about your death, but I've got a game to prepare for..."
  9. Brand new, huh? Yours for the brand new price of $90 then - I’ll even bring it to Montreal for you (which is ironic, as I bought it at the Hockey Monkey there...) LOL! Played the sexy BPM 120 Sunday, and felt pretty bad ass... then remembered that NO skaters ever notice your new gear, so figured I should focus on looking cool AND make a few saves (but only when it suited me). I really liked it - so much so that I went back to buy another at price (which turned out to be a mistake, but they gave me the same price again anyway). Was mildly concerned that the square toe would be different, but I’m not nearly a good enough puck handler for it to have been an issue. Was also mildly concerned, having never used a composite, about vibration, but that AVH technology seems to really work. Even took a slapper off the shaft, which deadened like wood, but didn’t leave a dent!
  10. Oh, absolutely- I guess “relegated to back up” would have been a better way to put it than “retirement.” I already gave it a new tape job and some TLC
  11. My CCM foam core got banged up worse than I thought last skate, so off to the store. Came back with a BPM 120 for $90 CAD tax in! Cheaper than most (all?) of the foam core inventory - which was funny, because I had assured my wife that I wouldn’t buy composite, since I was fine with foam core. Will tape this beast up, and try it out tonight. I like seeing all the puck marks on the white tape I had in the CCM, but it’s gonna have to be black tape for this one! enjoy retirement, 860. Thanks for all the fish.
  12. Have you called that number, @coopaloop1234 ? What is it for? Is it for water-front property? Is it seats for your game - of which all seem to still be available? Is it for lap dances? It's lap dances, isn't it...? I can't help but focus on it, and ponder - which might be in part because it's the only thing in the pic that is kinda in focus
  13. Mods: please move these to the "Goalie seeking goalie" thread. Good luck, you two!
  14. Nice series of pics, @bfast! Gotta be honest though; as I was scrolling from top to bottom, I saw the first one and thought "Aww - he's just a lil guy!" ...then I saw you standing straight up in the 3rd pic, and went "Holy fuck - this guy's a beast!" ...then I saw your post about your weight, and I thought "Aww - he's just a lil guy" again - LOL! Just jokes dude! Weight is something you can work with (though I don't think yours, given your age and position, is even an issue...?) Plus, you have height that a lot of us wish we had but can't do anything to fix! Happy early birthday, BTW (hopefully 18 is the legal drinking age where you are... if not, I'll drink yours for you)
  15. Yeah, that's one of mine, from back in the day. I had forgotten about the thread too, until I saw your post above. Any luck finding your own drawings...? Just thinking... does MTH stand for Master of the Heaton...? LOL!
  16. Whoa - thought you'd sneak in this little gem without me noticing. @MTH? Did you find any more of these? Maybe time to revive that old drawings thread?
  17. Right? Fuck, man - I thought I was The only one - and that’s not an anti-Bauer thing; I’m wearing Reactor 9000s. But yeah, some of their stuff since looks like they hired the same design team that did Volvos in the 1980s!
  18. Ha! A check from the big guy could bounce skinny right in/out of the zone, even! ! But every once in a while, the skinny player could knock down the big guy (about as often as a slot machine pays out, but at least there was hope)

Just to be clear: are we talking a reasonably well-adjusted, stable - if emotionally unavailable - murderous Columbian drug lord, or a laughs at nothing, takes counsel from a dead relative, batshit crazy murderous Colombian drug lord...?

Beer...? And hockey...? I'm intrigued; tell me more.
  21. And I feel I'm too young to be this old - lol! props for being a good sport about this teasing, dude!
  22. If we are lowering the picture quality requirements... Here's an action pic of me from my game this week. It looks like I'm way out of position - and I AM - but I kept looking down for the familiar red crease line. The skinny guy on the red team must have only weighed about 90 pixels, but he could switch from the A button to B button quicker than anyone else in the league.
  23. Preaching to the choir, brother. I might even have the red-head after a skate, but I don’t have a personal photographer following me around to document it!
  24. Kinda hate you for being able to get great pics taken all the time... lol! I remember you saying in another thread somewhere about you wearing your mask very tight - and I can see the red marks on your forehead! #proof
