  1. I asked them about that before I ordered and was told that Warrior was still making and shipping sets - if that changed after the order was placed, it would have been nice to know. Even if no one was physically in the store, it shouldn't preclude them from answering emails and contacting people. Which goes back to my initial point - just be proactive with your customers, and we'll be happier and less likely to gripe on the internet
  2. I agree with all of that, hence my current frustration. Delays are acceptable; it's the lack of reaching out to the customer and going "hey, I know you're at the end of the quoted wait time, here's what we know...there's probably going to be a delay...we're trying to get them asap..." And @dreadlocked1 - a week and a half response time is pretty awful. Just be proactive and you'll have happier customers /shrug.
  3. I always thought the graphic looked like a bunch of deer-horn knives stuck together. Never got to use those version of reebok pads, but they always looked like they sealed really nicely to the ice.
  4. I talked with TGC yesterday, and they said they hadn't received anything from Warrior in a while. He did mention that apparently Warrior had switched their shipping to retailers from DHL to UPS. To be fair, I have had universally terrible experiences with UPS deliveries to my house when every other carrier finds it just fine, but I don't know how much of a difference that makes for commerical customers (vs. residential). Also, he said their point of contact at Warrior got furloughed, but it didn't seem like they're putting in too much effort to find a different person to work with for the time being. Seeing as they did the half down, half when it gets there, you'd think they'd be pushing Warrior to actually get them the set so they can get the rest of the money for it. I messaged Kirk on here around the 10 week mark, too, to see if he was able to give me an update, but didn't get a response.
  5. Nice looking set @cuprajake! Did you get it as stock retail? I'm still waiting on my custom set to be delivered - now been 11 weeks even though I was quoted 8-10 (and seeing some people get theirs in 6-7). Not particularly happy with TGC's lack of updates on it, and looking less likely that I will be able to get a few games in the new set before summer season starts for my league.
  6. For our beer league, we started with pickups/drop-ins with a limited number of participants a couple weeks ago. We eased into it with a week of 3-on-3 "games" with no more than 5 people per side, with a face covering required on the ice. Now we are back to 5-on-5, but no more than 10 people total per side, face covering suggested but not required while on the ice. You need to wear a mask walking into the rink and while getting dressed/undressed, and you are requested to wipe down your equipment with a clorox wipe or something similar before you show up. Other restrictions: No locker rooms - the rink marked out 6 feet spaces with tape and set up chairs for individuals to dress in at the side of the rink. Come dressed as much as you can. I drive in my underclothes, put my knee pads/cup/pants on in the parking lot, then walk in and put on the rest of my gear. No showers, no food, no hanging out after the game. No contact, no grinding in the corners, etc. No spitting your water out on the bench or the ice. We also instituted a no slap shots rule for the first month back, because someone getting hurt from a rogue slap shot the first time they're on the ice in 2.5 months sounds awful and no one needs that. These rules have been pretty successful in their implementation; even the people who are pretty cavalier about covid are following them, because limited hockey is still better than no hockey. I think we are planning to return to a schedule where we play real games with refs and stuff in early July, provided that everything continues to work out.

Looks like we ordered at the same time (Monday is also 8 weeks for me), so hopefully we'll get them around the same time, too. Our official season is scheduled to resume on June 1, but ice rinks will be re-opening next week. I wouldn't go to one of them, because it's impossible to socially distance in their tiny locker rooms and hallways. But we're scheduled to do a few low number of skaters pickup games in the coming weeks to "tune up" for it - restrictions like only 5 guys a side (playing full ice 4-on-4 or 3-on-3), no contact/going into the corners, face covering required under your helmets, no showering at the rink, etc. It would be nice to take the new gear for a couple test runs to get a feel for it. Mostly I'm just excited for new gear - I'l definitely post pics when it comes in.

According to the response I got from the Warrior goalie instagram, my set has not yet been completed, but should be ready soon (tm).
  9. I like 1 and 2, but I'm a white-based pads kind of guy. I also don't think that the colored logo on the colored outer roll ever looks good (exception is a bright color like orange or yellow on a black/navy background); it gets muddled and hard to read from even a rinkside distance away, and they never "pop" to me. See Samsonov's set up with the Caps as an example:

Cool. No big retailers are near to me, so we'll see when they come in. I asked TGC and they had not received any of the custom sets from their pre-orders yet. The knee block is also bindingless on the G5, as opposed to the G4. I knew this would be a high-wear area, and it's one of the main reasons I didn't get the G4 (after being in G2s). But they fixed that and added all the features you mentioned, so I am very excited to get mine in. Hopefully they arrive soon!

They look really good! Which shop did you order through? I went with the TheGoalieCrease when they had their special promo offer and got it in about 7.5 weeks ago. I haven't seen a picture of them on Warrior's instagram, so I don't know if they've been built yet.
  12. The ties at the bottom of the shoulder floaters (I assume they are to fasten it to your pants if you tuck without some type of homemade system) remind me of the "pull the tab to inflate your life vest" when you're on a plane.
  13. Tie the pants, or tie the chest to the pants? I also do just suspenders under my chest protector, and leave the C/A untucked.

Turns out it was too tempting to pass up. Looking forward to getting these in 8-10 weeks!

    That is...very tempting.

Not a big fan of how the line cuts across the glove graphic if you don't surround it by color. Other than that, you can make some pretty nice setups, I think. I normally like white based pads but I'm thinking maybe a Boba Fett themed setup would look cool this time around.

I did it again and it worked this time. Thanks.

I'm not seeing the new G5 customizer available yet online - any word on when today it will go live?
  19. I feel this way about my V1 stick. I much prefer the softer feel of the Eflex4 stick that is my main one now.

Interesting - I feel like that piece was enlarged from the G3 to the GT2. When I close the gloves, I can feel it in the palm break on the GT2 and it's not noticeable on my G3.

Another question - if the cuff face is now a wedge/at an angle, do you not need to give up some of the width in order to not exceed the 8" max? Similarly, if the whole face of the glove is angled forward, what was shrunk in order to keep the 45" perimeter? I could be missing something here, so I am curious as to how much effect this has past marketing hype.

Some questions: What differentiates this from just holding your glove/blocker out more in front of your body and/or angling it to the puck correctly to get the same inch of coverage? Regarding the blocker, does this mean a thicker board, which tends to be heavier and worse in paddle-down scenarios? If the top of the glove cuff comes forward more, such that there is a wedge-like incline on the cuff face, will this angle pucks that hit that area downward to the ice, instead of up and over the net/to the corners? Last thing: these marketing graphics are not great at showcasing how it is different - it just looks like someone stuck a piece of blue plastic in front of the gear (which would give more coverage, but also is not a legal addition to your gear). It would be nice to showcase actual photos of the G4 glove and the G5 glove, point out what has changed and why it's an improvement.

Not my ideal, but not a deal breaker.

Will they allow you to remove unused color zones, so there is no stitching/extra jenpro layers for large sections of a single color?
  25. When my father was growing up in Israel, they didn't have any ice rinks. So awesome to see hockey expanding there!
