  1. Both versions are now on the goaliemonkey website, as well. https://www.goaliemonkey.com/accessories/knee-thigh-guards/bauer-goalie-accessories-pro-knee-guards-sr.html https://www.goaliemonkey.com/accessories/knee-thigh-guards/bauer-goalie-accessories-elite-knee-guards-sr.html
  2. Is goaltending really that much a contributor to their woes? They've scored only 2 goals in three games; only managing 1 goal against Latvia and Germany combined is pretty pathetic.
  3. Maybe he is leaning back all the way or it's a weird angle for the picture, but that neck guard does not seem to be protecting much in that photo.
  4. COVID-19 also killed the concept of playing defense
  5. From winning zero games last season to champs this season!
  6. What difference does the thin (stock) vs. thick shin option make? What would be the reason to choose one over the other?
  7. As the article points out, this is not the case. Part of the "Operation Warp Speed" contractual agreements with the vaccine producers prevent the US government from distributing the doses procured with those funds from going outside the USA. If you want to argue that we should rewrite/renegotiate the agreements as we now have more than we can use, then I completely agree - but our hands seem tied until that is resolved. The government cannot, legally speaking, do whatever they want with those doses; they have to respect the terms in the contracts they signed. Could we spin up a separate production operation using the Defense Production Act as justification, and have its funding come from an unrelated source? Maybe, but I'm not familiar enough with the intricacies of vaccine production to comment on whether it could be done on a short enough timescale to matter here. I was just saying that it is not as simple as packing up the extra doses in a refrigerated FedEx truck and driving them across the border, as much as we both might like it to be.
  8. We want to, but due to the contracts negotiated by the previous administration, cannot. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/why-the-us-still-cant-donate-covid-19-vaccines-to-countries-in-need Emphasis mine:
  9. I'm thinking of ordering a Hyperlite set, but with the stabilislide knee block instead of the flex one. Anything I should be concerned with going that route? Also a question on the flex - the profiles on the customizer online make it look like the "hyperlite" flex has a double internal break: Is that actually the case, or is it just an artifact of how it is represented graphically? It would be good to know where the breaks are placed in the core structure of the pad. It is also a bit odd that the flex named "Ultrasonic" shows a Vapor/Hyperlite pad break pattern and side logo: What flex profile is recommended for someone who is generally happy with the standard CCM "pre-curved, single internal, single external" break?
  10. I joined a new team when the league started back up in our area, and the team now has its first two wins in two and a half seasons. Feels pretty good - last one was a 3-1 win where we were outshot 31-18 (officially, but the scorekeeper misses at least 25% of the shots on each side looking at their phone the whole game).
  11. I second the suggestion of using a pair of the McDavid brand knee/elbow pads underneath the knee guards. When I was recovering from a knee injury, I used them and turned them slightly so that the majority of the hex padding was on the inside of my knees. If you're looking for protective knee guards that have a very cushion-y knee area, the CCM KP Pros are a good one.
  12. Yes, the never stayed "down" for me. Even with the jersey over them, they want to stay in that V shape; one of the reasons I got a different brand of chest protector.
  13. I've tried all the variations of Lundy loop/no bootstrap/through different parts of the skate, and I still find that I like mine running under the heel. It is loose, but keeps the pads from riding up too much when in the butterfly and moving around.
  14. I'm currently using a 580 and I really like it.
  15. Thanks! That is interesting. Do you like the feel of any of the CCM gloves?
  16. What CCM break is closest to the Warrior 75 degree on the GT2 glove? I think it would be the 600, but I am not positive.
  17. This is the same bag I've been using for 3+ years. It has plenty room for all my gear, pads included. I've gotten used to it not having the U-shaped opening, but other than that I have zero complaints. Been very durable for me, too.
  18. Quick should just wear his regular pads for the retro nights and see who gets the joke.
  19. I like my GT2 C/A. Looks big but plays fairly mobile. Very adjustable for comfort and fit, which is nice.
  20. Anybody know what break Samsonov uses? There is a set of his gloves up on SidelineSwap. I might be tempted by them. https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/goalie/goalie-gloves-blockers/2536141-ccm-ilya-samsonov-custom-e-flex-4-made-in-canada
  21. Do you not like the UltraSonic colorways/top welting? Are you going with a mix of features between the 2X and the UltraSonic (boot angle, stiffness, etc.)?
  22. From what I remember, he mostly shot it "backwards", so that the puck was still on the forehand, but it went behind him instead. Almost like a rowing a boat motion. Worked well enough for him, but I'm not sure I'd try it these days!
  23. Curtis Joseph caught left-handed and shot right-handed, with a unique way of holding his goalie stick to make that work.
  24. When I ordered a Brian's GNetik set about 8 years ago, I originally wanted an iceberg-style graphic and was told they didn't do them, because it would be too similar to Vaughn's well-known graphic. Times have changed, I guess.
