  1. I am selling my Brown 2400 Chest Protector. Size Small. Russian Spec (extra beefed up bicep caps and rib protection, segmented shoulder floaters compared to the standard 2400 model). Fight strap attachment at the back to attach to your pants if desired. Used for 1 year 2x per week. Always aired out and hung up after each skate. Small tear in the fabric (pictured) that I repaired. $300 USD. Ships from Houston, TX.
  2. https://www.groupehockey.com/public/catalogues/TRUE CATALOGUE 2022.pdf is the very first link that comes up when you search "true 2022 goalie catalogue". Doesn't seem like they are hiding it very hard. If the catalogue and pictures are correct, there are some things that have been streamlined between the two stock models. The FRS appears to be the same on both the stock 12.2 and 20.2. This is a change from the built-to-spec 20.2 which has a shorter flap on the inside The boot flex for both the 12.2 and 20.2 models is listed as "stiff". I would have expected the 12.2 stock model to have the more flexible boot, given that the description starts with "these flexible boot pads..." Other differences that might sway someone towards one model of gloves/blockers: 12.2 stock glove is a 600 break; 20.2 stock glove is a 590 break. 12.2 stock blocker has a half-piece cuff (my preference); 20.2 stock blocker has a one-piece cuff. Otherwise, the gloves/blockers are identical minus graphics.
  3. I haven't seen many nationally televised games on the new cable channels that picked it up. Aside from the game where they had Gretzky et al commentating at the start of the season, I also can't think of any games on TNT that were shown in primetime hours? I just looked through all the promotional emails sent to me about it, and it comes out to one game a week, all starting at 10 PM EST with mostly bad teams. Who wouldn't want to stay up until 1 AM to catch the Wild play at Arizona?? Garbage games in a garbage time slot - who could have predicted no one would watch?
  4. They didn't say which March That's a nice usage of the graphic. With both pads together it looks like it will have a large arrow pointing to the five-hole - "shoot here" and then you slam it shut and laugh at the dumb shooter It bothers me that the TRUE logo on the glove is upside-down, and I wish there was more to differentiate the blocker/glove of different lines than just being the same glove with different graphics. But having the ability to build any of the three break angles to match any set is worth it, I suppose - my Lefevre 580 is still my go-to glove.
  5. I find the more "streamlined" knee pads let me feel more connected to the pad, and easier to squeeze the pads together on the weird angle shots and skate around in general. But I think that a lot of people's preference can come from how you strap your pads - the bigger knee pads will probably work better when you strap the knee elastic down to the calf, leaving the outside of the knee area open. If you use a wide knee pad and strap around the knee, you might end up hindering rotation (or need to use a longer elastic to not interfere).
  6. I suppose this is a lesson to not listen to anyone's statement except the one from the actual person involved. And a good reminder that a person saying "well I never saw them do XYZ" does not mean XYZ did not occur.
  7. This is one of the reasons I've been highly considering getting a Sparx sharpener - the lack of consistency in sharpening where I live is awful.
  8. That is how I took your original post. I was agreeing with you
  9. As I've noted before, this was my experience with them, as well. I still use the unit, but it is not exactly how I wanted it and their excuses for not constructing it in the manner expected rang very hollow.
  10. But on the surface, he looks calm and ready. All joking aside, it's a dick move to intentionally take a swing at someone's head, even if you're far enough away to not have a chance of connecting. Is it a fineable action, in terms of unsportsmanlike conduct?
  11. I used one for a year of 2-3x per week until it cracked in the middle of the blade. Whether that is considered durable enough for your purposes is up to you, but I had no complaints with it.
  12. All of that is addressed in the report and in the interview Beach did with TSN the other night. In short: 1) He was a 20-year-old kid when this occurred just trying to make an NHL team. Having an abusive coach say "keep this quiet or I'll ruin your career" is very scary. 2) He did tell people when it happened. Then it got covered up. He came sued the organization after that same coach bounced around and eventually got convicted for assaulting a 16-year-old high school player. He said he felt responsible (even though he isn't and it's all on Aldrich and the organizations that empowered/covered up for him) for it happening to that kid, too. 3) Aldrich was an assistant(?) video coach - who was going to miss him if he got fired by the Blackhawks organization for this abuse? Why protect him at all?? He wasn't crucial to the organization's success. I don't understand how their conclusion of "not wanting a distraction during a potential cup run" somehow comes to "firing this asshole is a distraction, but having him around abusing a player isn't" 4) As was made clear in the report, they all knew - Bowman, Q, etc. When you're bringing marketing folks into the meeting to discuss what should happen when a coach has abused, that's a pretty clear sign the end result is going to be sweeping it under the rug. Basically, everyone involved should resign/be fired if they won't, Coach Q included. Also, read this article about it; the author has done incredible reporting on various sexual assualt scandals from USA gymnastics to NCAA football, so she knows what she is writing about: https://defector.com/there-will-be-more-john-does/

According to their facebook post, they started taking retail orders today. But I couldn't find any updated catalogs/spec sheets/descriptions on their official website. https://fb.watch/8Vn80tDhPD/
  15. I'm excited for my kid to be old enough to play hockey. He's still too small to be on skates, but he knows all the words: "helmet," "jersey," "gloves," etc. The funniest is that he will point to every goalie picture/video and say "Dada!" - glad he think's I'm as good as the goalies on TV
  16. It is not easily accessible to adjust; the G2 version has a velcro tab that folded over itself and worked well. It ended up, to me, being more of a hassle than it was worth on the G5. Just wanted to give a heads up that it seemed like their default/stock tightness of the toe tie had become tighter feeling since the G2 era, if that is an area of concern for you. One thing I wish more companies would copy/imitate/get inspired by is the bindingless boot - it really cuts down on wear in that area. Maybe there are patent or copyright reasons why they can't, but it would be nice to see.
  17. I also really loved the Warrior toe ties that came on the G2. I kept them when I sold those pads and transferred them to my new set and used them until they wore through and couldn't be sewn back together anymore. BUT - the new versions of the toe straps I found to be significantly tighter. I don't know if it was how they attached it across the bottom of the boot instead of anchoring it on one side, but the tension on the front of my skate was way too tight to be comfortable. The elastic piece extends parallel to the front of the boot, as I have highlighted in this picture: I couldn't use them, and eventually replaced them with ProLaces ties.
  18. The thick vs. thin is more for the shin area, not the boot itself. I know it says boot on the customizer, but it's adding width to the shin area. It does look like they removed the ability to get the US boot on the Hyperlite though - no 125 degree option anymore. You can get the flatter 100 degree boot on the US, though. As it was explained to me, there isn't really a difference; it's mostly about how you like your pads to feel. You may get slightly hotter rebounds off the "thin" version, if they are using a higher density layup of foam(s) (i.e. if thin vs. thick weigh the same on the finished pad, the thin version would have to be higher density). I got the "thin" (stock) version. I don't think it makes a difference. I believe that the stock US pads are the "thick" version, so the "thick" would look like your current pads and the thin would be a little thinner.
  19. The flex between the Hyperlite and the US is the shape that was on the 2X pads. I got the stock Hyperlite flex and I'm happy with my choice. It doesn't really flex in game; it's more about the shape that the core is built in, from my experience. Both the custom flex profile and the US knee block on the Hyperlite are ProCustom level only options, so you would have access to all the possible options with this route. With this route, you can also get the steeper boot of the US on the Hyperlite (if that is your preference). I got the US knee block on my Hyperlite set and I've been incredibly happy with it so far. I love that it doesn't have any wiggle and that it transfers your energy without any lag time. It has a perfect seal on the ice every time. From what I have seen, the Hyperlite knee block doesn't have that much more movement in it, so it may be more a mental thing. I personally prefer the softer, flatter boot of the Vapor line; I feel like it lets me pre-load my movements easier.
  20. They are really useful for this, though. One of the better parts of his videos is going through the entirety of each piece, so you can see more of the construction than just what the promotional photos on websites show. Everyone has personal preferences, but it is refreshing to hear things like "they changed materials and I don't think it is as good/soft/grippy as the previous version, and here is why" instead of just "this is the newest and bestest gear this manufacturer has ever made!"
  21. Colors would indicate that it is from last season in Vancouver. I'd say the yellowing on the arms means it got a good amount of use there.
  22. No, they are the same height. The company might make "tall" steel, but you'd have to contact them and ask; I don't see it on their website. That said, they don't have their "regular" steel for the True 2-piece on the website, either, but I know from conversations with one of their sales reps that they have it available.
  23. I recently got new runners from Tydan Blades for my 2-pieces skates. I like them a lot. Only thing to keep in mind is that they are 3mm; the stock runners that came with mine were 4mm (might need to go slightly sharper in cut).
  24. Maybe it's Good F-ing Luck (figuring out what this stands for)
