My contributions to this site are garbage lol. But I'll take the compliment and run.

@SaveByRichter35 is doing ok as far as I know. He posted a lot of hoorah "veterans day is super important" stuff around that time down there. So dude's alive at least.

You're actually useful if someone new is like "hey, does anyone drink the Kool-aid on Warrior gloves?" but beyond that......

What's truly remarkable is the post counts of TGN and Bunnyman. I feel like TGN never posts, so he's clearly fudging the numbers behind the scenes.
Bunnyman still being up there just shows how all over this board he was. RIP.

Yeah, he was most active I think when I took some time off of here for a while and when I came back it was all Bunny, haha.  What a character.

You have the second most reputation and a far better ratio than me lol. Most in the top 8 do. I just spam.

Plus, you're 5th on total posts. You're almost in that top rung.

To be honest I'd never really paid a lot of attention to chest protectors until I needed a new one, and then my OCD kicked in and I got just as obsessed with it as I do with everything else. I hadn't thought about mine much either because it fit so well and was so broken in and just did it's job. But when I started looking around and trying stuff on and these new units suddenly weren't so comfortable, it got my attention pretty quick, haha. I was in Vaughn forever as well, really comfortable.

For chesties (and pants) I'm not convinced there's much difference or reason for discernment and I am fine staying that way, ignorant,  in a sense.

It's just not interesting to me, personally.

That's right, I don't tuck, tie down, or wear suspenders. Light and Breezy baby.

Currently in the Warrior RX3 Pro (not +) and I'm expecting my Bauer Mach tomorrow. I've used Warrior units the longest, but have gone back and forth with a few Bauer and Vaughn units.

Are you still pending to get a new Warrior and just trying out the Mach?

I just noticed some holes in some of the square foam wraps on my chest unit.  Nothing too bad or problematic just yet, but a good sign that it's seen its share of good use and getting into the last stages of use.

Mine's a V9 I got 3  years ago.  I've only ever worn Vaughn chesties and honestly I've paid zero attention to them over the years, even on here. It's a piece of gear that kinda bores me and I don't geek out on them at all.  My expectations for them are minimal so long as they fit well, which Vaughn's  have done for me.

P.S. I too don't tuck, tie down, or wear suspenders.  Never have.

And a note about being "new" - No, just tend to be a lurker more than someone who posts...

Right on, I just saw your post count of 3 under your name so that's New in my book.  In any case, welcome.

I feel like his toe ties are actually not that tight if you look at his blocker side you can see there is a reasonable amount of slack. The side you circled has more to do with his leg positioning with his heel being driven down and pointing his toe up more by choice.

Good eye, i see what you're saying.  I was more circling for emphasizing how the squishy boot is wrapping around the skate rather than the toe tie.

I see you're new here too, welcome, thanks for joining.

Played in a Thanksgiving weekend 4-on-4 tourney on Black Friday, each team got (3) 30 minute running clock games, no icing/offsides, all penalties were penalty shops, pretty much no stoppages.  It was a fun time, we went 3-0.  Most of the guys were beer leaguers in various divisions (mostly upper C/B league).  One team we played plays out of another rink, we beat them a couple times in a summer tourney but there wasn't any bad blood or anything.

Their goalie, who I've never seen before, was an absolute prick.  Right off the bat he was throwing hands at guys skating by, caught one of our guys with his blocker when he was cutting around the net, nut shotted another guy twice when he was in front- not even in the crease.  Constantly chirping and being an all around prick.  He let in a couple early on, but that didn't stop him from talking shit.  Eventually he let in one from the red line because he was too busy giving shit to one of our guys in front, but dude still chirped after that.

They got a penalty shot, I stopped it glove side, he starts yelling shit at me...while we're up 4-0.  They finally scored one off of a 2-on-1, one timer to their guy from the slot, and dude says to me, "that went in between your legs btw"....I'm like yeah I know dude, it's 4-1.  We scored one more to make it 5-1 and I started tapping my stick loudly, other goalie was flailing his arms and yelling shit at me 😅.

After the game, I said "you did good out there bud", then he started talking shit to my team as we skated off the ice.  Never come across another goalie act like such a jackoff while getting clowned on the ice.

It seems so fitting when goalies like that clearly don't know how to tend the goal and they let in soft goals.  It's almost like they are being a dick because of their own insecurity as a goalie.....hmmmmmmm.

I had a weird goal go in on me last night.  Lots of zone pressure, good cycling, had a puck end up at the top of the slot from a crisp pass from my right, not a one-timer but a good quick release after catching the pass and closing the gap a bit.  Shot was right at my face on my knees and I chose to use my blocker rather than my glove.  I wasn't able to steer it left or right and it was too high for me to get it going down so it just kinda ramped up my blocker, flipped back over my head and in.  Oops.  It could have only been better if it rolled down my back, haha.

Ended in a 3-3 tie, super fun game.

@seagoal I have relatives in Buffalo. If they visit this year, I will ask them for a Sabers puck. I can't promise.

Man, that would be huge.  Thank you @ethanallen for thinking of that.  I would not have guessed that Buffalo was going to be the most difficult, but it's looking to be the case.

    No pressure or expectation.

More importantly- where’s your review of the IPA?

Very mild flavor profile, moderate bitterness, moderate hoppyness, super heavy body and viscosity, kinda drinks more like a pale ale, pretty decent even though it's not citrusy or complex, not my fave.

Found my 2nd Kraken AHL team puck tonight at my game.  It's got the wordmark which my 1st one does not have so that's a good find.

3-3 tie tonight that was made possible by a diving, backhand glove save to my right off a faceoff to my left.  Puck was shot on net, blocked , spun out to my right on edge and the LW one timed it.......right into my diving glove.  3-2 at that point and we tied with a minute left.  Good times.

Hey guys, I’m 5’10 155 and I just got a senior small Bauer Pro chest. I’m loving everything about it except the bulkiness. I’m coming out of an intermediate ve8 that was tiny on me so I expected to feel  bulky, but I’m maybe 3-4 skates in and this just feels so awkward on me. Is this something I’ll get used to? I haven’t had a new chest since I got my ve8 in maybe 2020 so I don’t really know what the adjustment period is. Thanks.

It sounds to me like you have the right size and yes, you will absolutely get used to it.  I think with any new gear, for me anyway, it takes about 2 weeks or 4-9 skates for me to stop thinking about it or notice it.  You are aware of it simply because it's new and different.  So much of our relationship to gear is feel.  It feels different, so , you need enough time in it for it to feel normal or "not there."

Is there an area in particular where it feels bulky?  Chest, neck, shoulders, arms?  Have you played around with different strapping setups to make sure you are optimizing the fit?  I'm not familiar with this particular chestie but I'm certain there is a fair amount of customization that is possible with the strapping, as is the case on any modern unit.

Is something wrong with the RV3 (that isn't the price of new sticks)?

Sick find though. I usually get sticks from team end-of-season stock sell-offs. I've found it hard to replace my Alex Lyon stick from when he was with the Checkers though.

Nope, not that I know of.  I was just making a joke about me not buying the current generation model in favor of the older.  I'll take last gen at half off anyday.

I'm a big fan of Price's almost Turco like stance he had.

Yeah, you an see the thigh rises curling down even standing upright or in stance in most of those.  Lots of boots wrapping down around skates, too.

Definitely a bit of a relic to how pads used to be. It's fun seeing old early 2000's Junior league pictures. The difference in how goalies looked and the gear as a whole is a fun reminisce. You do forget how much has changed.

Those pads look super soft. I am guessing they are not what they appear to be, right? Love Quick, as well!

They're more or less V4's with V2's leg channel.

Quick's been using pads stuffed with cotton candy since before you were born.

If you watch him play he squishes them down all the time when getting up after whistles and he likes them to flex (twist) torsionally.

He's more old school,  for sure .

See, the problem is that you're looking for a Sabres fan. They're a rare commodity these days.

Aww but their uniforms are so nice, great colors, and my favorite current NHL mask is there too.   It's like Rinne-B :)

I can participate in this thread finally.  We had some photos taken of our team and I have a jersey to match this season.  This is my second year with the team and I'm having a great time with them.  Not a lot of action shots.  I'm easily the shortest guy on the team.  Last photo is to show off leg strapping.83.2.thumb.jpg.5e47ae8b38509941e4e442c6299ed0b1.jpg83.3.thumb.jpg.fa1b2accc1129ef8f12adde7fa054388.jpg11.1.thumb.jpg.e61e98f335dbbe3d8fabc8dff207cf02.jpg483.thumb.jpg.15afcdb803e2c0d87ae2ff929f4b2eb2.jpg83.4.thumb.jpg.a3e3fdd8f720a55cd105670124db3e7c.jpg

But don't you want to know that eating vulcanized rubber would make you feel like garbage?

Hmm, I'd watch only if this dude lived in Buffalo, New York and would send me a Sabres puck, haha.

Seriously, does anyone live in Buffalo?  I didn't think it'd be the most difficult puck to find through connections/travel but it has turned out to be the case.
