Removing grippy material

Hey all,

I've noticed with the humidity and my blocker change (to a Warrior G5) my CCMs have felt extremely grippy on the shaft. I like to poke check and play the puck a lot so I'm hoping to remove that. Anyone got any easy/non destructive ways to take it off? If I have to sand it, I will, just prefer not to mess it up too much.

has anyone tried spray painting over it?

I haven't but my concern would be adhesion oddly enough. Most grips are kind of rubbery and therefor have some flex... spray paint typically doesn't hold up well to that sort of environment. Not to mention it would probably transfer to the palm of your blocker... but likely just a cosmetic things that some may or may not find annoying.
