I agree.
But- Atlanta is the largest US market without an NHL team. They have NHL quality arena and practice facilities already in place.
Honestly, they're the perfect expansion spot - less the Trashers and Flames failures. lol.
Wanted to do some research to see how true that is and I came across this. Atlanta is right up there for Big 4 veiwership ratings in the USA without a NHL team. Definitely makes sense why they really want to nail down that market if possible.
Funny enough, Phoenix isn't far behind. Makes sense why Bettman and Co. are just refusing to let the Coyotes leave and keep taking that embarrassment of a franchise on the chin

Ah, for some reason I thought you had the XF on order as well.
C'mon, do eeet

You're at what? 4 pads now?

No. The graphic on my Mach pads was meant to be the TGN Graphic for all future Bauer orders. I had a HL2 order in and the gear never arrived, I decided not to do anything which could complicate the order...
Brutal.
You liked the Supreme gear more than the Vapour gear anyways right?

EDIT: Interesting to note that the sidewall on the blocker in the customizer is different from what we see of the sidewall in the catalog pictures above.
The glove is different too, unless you got a a Vapour glove with your set?

Some interesting general observations re: True production times - currently the customizer shows a wait time of only 5-7 weeks, and both Goal tec in Saskatchewan and United Sport & Cycle in Edmonton have received a boat load of domestic True sets (Hzrdus & Px3). So it seems either their supply chain issues have been addressed or there's just been a dip in demand. At any rate, bodes well for anyone wanting to purchase or order.
True's wait times usually skyrocket around when guys are getting ready to get back to training before camps. This is probably the slow season for Pro orders.

First pic is how I wear mine.
Second pic is Bones (the popular EBUG) in his Trues. His toe-ties has more slack then mine I believe, his pads are loose and he has no professor strap that I know, and yet his knee blocks remain level no matter how he moves or when he drops. I don't get it.
@DL42 I agree about how the industry thinks sometimes. They try to be the next best thing instead of doing the smart thing. I think Warrior realized this and why they went back to a more conventional strapping on the G7 line.
True pads have what they call a Fast Rotation System. It's essentially a professor strap for your calf. Kind of like Bauer's Tune Fit+ system and what CCM does as well.
It's starting to become popular and for a good reason. Holds your leg in there, doesn't interfere with knee pads or skates, and is highly customizable.
6 minutes ago, RichMan said:@coopaloop1234 I hear what you're saying. Anchor points are what keeps things where they should. If I had rubber joints, I wouldn't need slack on the toe-ties as I wouldn't need to have my toes pointing down in the ice to be comfortable and tear the shit out of my ligaments.
I might just go back to my Pro-Laces at this stage.
Clearly you just need sliding toe bridges. lol
I know all the rage right now is to go back to laces because "post integration is better!", but I say fuck that.
Objectively, it's correct, but the feel and ease of bungees are fantastic and lord knows I'm never going to have enough time to effectively practice my toe bridge on post integration to the point where it's automatic. The sole benefit of lace is almost lost on me.
Especially as I've got rubber enough hips that skate on post and a hard lean (even in Ultrasonics) is relatively easy for me.

The problem is when all the little kids back in 2010 thought the less straps u have the cooler u r , the mfg took them off, but forgot how pad works.
The upper calf straps kept the pads from sliding down, they took it off and reinvented it and called it prof strap yes i know ben.
That is what kept the pad up and not needing a boot strap.
In conjunction with that, they forgot the pressure that kept the leg in was the strapping going to the outside edge of pad instead of inside, that why maf still use straps, control in the down motion.
Ehhh, I'm going to disagree.
In 2010 the theory behind leg pad strapping was wildly different. Strapping the knee block down to the calf wasn't a thing and leg channels were all super tight unless you were using a RBK Premier pad. Even in Premier pads, the best way to wear them was very, very loose. The only thing that was keeping it on your leg was strapping behind the knee and your toe ties/boot strap.
The change from behind the knee, down to the calf, is probably the largest contributor to what you're saying.
All pads in 2010 still had a plethora of leather straps. The strap reduction really only started with the Gnetik1 (2012) and G2 (2013) leg pads, at the time these two lines were a massive shake up to how leg pads were strapped. Who knew that using Velcro would be so revolutionary?

The group, led by ex-NHL player and businessman Anson Carter, represents a second effort to bring an NHL hockey team back to metro Atlanta.
What a strange way to write out "third attempt"

thanks coop, at first, I was thinking that there probably are more protective boots out there but then started thinking there might not be. Like you said it doesn't happen a whole lot. It could very well be just a vulnerable spot. Sooner or later, you will get dinged up tending. How bad is another story.
Clearly you're needing an old school full cowling.

So I have a pair the CCM Tacks, which I'm fairly certain is the Pro version of the 6092.
I've taken a few shots on the outside/inside of the boot and it's never pleasant. Though it's a pretty rare occurrence overall just with how the position is generally played.
I'm sure the full 1 piece composite boots that are available are more protective, but, IMO, this shouldn't be a major factor in a purchasing decision when coming to a skate.

Bringing this back. I know some of you have used it. Unfortunate that no one answered @nyislesfan
I'm interested in feedback and experience on the shoulder floaters, the shoulder caps...ie vision, mask interference, reaching your mask, gut/chest traps and finally, current pro jersey fit, please and thank you.
@ThatCarGuyhas used the pro+.
He can at least tell you about fit.

I know that the ventus/slr glove wasn't the most popular, but it's dissapointing to see it essentially dissapear.
I assume it'll be available at custom since there is still a user base for it, but I do understand their thought process behind making the change.

Goodbye Hockey. ......... I am playing my final game on Friday, March 29.
For years my body has been complaining. This time I have listened.
It has been a grand run, 75-80 games per year with my 55+ team and more recently we've morphed into a 70+ squad.
Of course I'll miss it, over 65 years of being a goalie. But following hip, knee and shoulder surgeries the arthritis has won !@#$%^&*. So at age 74 I'm hanging them up. I won't be selling any gear as my Granddaughter is following the Family Curse and is now a 'tender.
It is my plan to drop in every once in a while on this site and take the temperature. But probably won't have much to offer, as if I ever have.
Cheers y'all

Here's a good side by side of an Iconik pad with a stiffer core and a stock core.
Brians is going a bit in the opposite direction than most and applying a more aggressive curve to their stiffer pads and having a straighter profile for their more flexible pads.
I'm going to make an assumption and say it's the same concept applied between the Optik 3 and the x3's.

I'll play too, I think these choices are heavily dependent on the era you grew up in
Anaheim - Giguere
Arizona - Khabibulin
Boston - Thomas
Buffalo - Hasek
Calgary - Kipper
Carolina - Ward
Chicago - Admittedly a weird choice - Thibault
Colorado - Roy
Columbus - Detective Sergei Bobrovsky
Dallas - Belfour
Detroit - Osgood
Edmonton - Cujo. Meme vote goes to Salo
Florida - Luongo
LA - Quick
Minnesota - Backstrom
Montreal - Roy
Nashville - Rinne
NJ - Brodeur
NYR - Richter, honorable mention to Lundy
NYI - DiPietro (that contract lol)
Ottawa - Emery (RIP), honorable mention to Lalime for the Marvin the Martian mask
PHI - Bryz (tigers and outer space lol)
PIT - Fleury
SJS - Nabby
SEA - I guess Grubauer.
STL - nobody really of note; I'd say Binnington if I had to (won a Cup). Meme vote goes to Brodeur
TBL - Vasi
TOR - Potvin
VAN - McLean, honorable mention to Luongo
VGK - Fleury
WAS - Kolzig or Holtby
WPG - Helleybuck, but if we're talking as a franchise, LehtonenAside from Crawford in CHI and Turco in DAL I'm almost in complete agreement.
That VAN vs DAL Series where game 1 went to 4OT really solidified Turco for me.

The Blues are a tough one. Some great goalies through the years. Cup runs, etc.
Glenn Hall played just 4 years. Same with Eddie Johnson. They seemed to revolve goalies until Ed Staniowski lasted 6 years into 1981.
Mike Liut played 6 also (1980-1985). Was pretty good there.
Greg Millen and Cujo did 6 years each too. Forget that Cujo was there and until he left was one of the most tenured goalies in Blues history. What a helmet too!
Fuhr did 4 (96-99) had a nice run there but he's an Oiler. Although Fuhr's gear was amazing and he jumped with the uniform change too. What sty!
Brent Johnson played 5. He did ok. Then they ran through goalies again until Jake Allen and Jordan Binnington came along. Both at 7 seasons now. Binnington plays next year with the Blues and becomes the longest tenured goalie in their history. How about that? Liut still has the most games at 347 versus Binnington at 267.
All things considered the Blues most iconic would still remain Liut.
Binnington may play more than Liut - but he'll never have that iconic look to him like Mike Liut had. But hoisting the cup is as iconic as you can get...
Goes to show gear matters. Binnington changed gear so often you don't have one iconic image of him.
Not his fault - it's how it is today.
All his gear is pretty nice though. His masks all look like blues colors diarrhea
Lifting the first cup in franchise history will always win major points for being a teams iconic goalie, especially a team that never truly had one like the Blues.
Add in longest tenured, it's a pretty valid argument. Not many teams can say their current goalies are their most iconic, just the Lightning?
