  1. Right - same construction, padding, etc. and all going from 962 to MMX just slightly different shell sizes (same shapes though).
  2. @MTH thanks for sharing - these diagram representations are sweet and totally my wheelhouse. The pads one takes me back to some pointillism-esque goalie sketches I did in my youth.
  3. I owned the Simmons Fusion offering for a minute (believe it was branded the MMX... which is basically a smaller 962). Anyhow - some feedback/observations... I would have been totally comfortable wearing it protection-wise but it just didn't seem to fit quite right. Almost like it pinched my melon a bit in the upper dome area. Finish was not immaculate - not necessarily sloppy or anything but just saying for the price point a little bit of you get what you pay for (and why guys like Michel at Protechsport charge so much for a "pro" finish on the interior of the mask: time = money). If the fit would have worked out - I wouldn't have hesitated to wear it or buy another one. Hope that helps.
  4. I'm with you guys @coopaloop1234 / @SaveByRichter35 on the prefer shorter arms bandwagon. Its part of why I tuck my chest because in going with off the shelf units - I'd rather go with a shorter-ish arm length (meaning I'm also stuck with a shorter-ish belly pad length). Tucking ensures there is no gap from stomach to upper jock. At any rate at this point I'm just used to it anyhow.
  5. Shit. They're on to me.
  6. @coopaloop1234 - it sounded like you were working toward a solution but since I was at the rink last night - snapped those requested pics...
  7. Right on. Like I said - my CA is broken in like a wet paper bag so if the glove pushes the arm up a bit - I probably wouldn't even notice it. My CA doesn't have arm adjustments (but is loose up where the arm connects). Suppose you could always shorten the arms if not via stock by punching some holes/adding grommets to go old school style on your CA... though with pricetags in the $500-$700 range - that isn't something I usually entertain. Good luck!
  8. @hateclowns for the record - I just liked your comment for The Moz avatar.
  9. @coopaloop1234 saw your earlier request for photos but since my gear lives at the rink - I wasn't able to oblige. Anyways - that looks about right on your wrist to me. I'm wearing a Bauer Reactor-esque chest with G2 gloves so I'm in a similar setup to you. I do keep the wrist on my CA relatively loose (meaning I fasten it just enough to keep my UA from turtling back into the arm) and its quite broken in. I also do not cinch in any of the straps on either glove. These aren't responses to the gloves/CA interacting but just how I do things up. Hope that helps.
  10. @406goalie Dan painted my very first custom mask with custom paint job (NOT the one in my profile photo) I think shortly after he'd gotten into painting (?). Glad you had a good experience - mine was less so at least with communication/the process (and to be fair - was a number of years ago (2008 vintage)): long(er) than advertised lead time (less of a big deal) and misspelled my name (which was on my sketch, email address... AND the check I sent him) front and center on the chin drop (which seemed much more egregious than other bits of the process). Also didn't offer to pay the shipping back to him to correct the mistake. I was fine with the final product but the stink of the typo hung around until I got my second custom mask/paint job. Last I had known he was getting more so into tattooing and the like instead of mask painting. EDIT: Found a shot of said mask...
  11. Respect on the grandparents homage and sorry for your losses. Mine are in their nineties and I know I will miss them like crazy when that time comes. Well done on the paint job - definitely captures the vibe of the era on the photo reproductions. Who did the paint?
  12. I wish I were more surprised by this clowns actions but sadly I am not. Second what others have said that I’m glad there was some swift justice here. Hope it continues and is severe for a severe action. No place for this in ANY level of hockey. Also - kudos to the teammates that jumped in once they saw what he pulled.
  13. @southpawtendy48 bummer - that sucks. Every time I've gone through the trouble of doing a mold I've always done at least two juuust in case: lost, broken, not suitable for the mask maker, etc. And for what its worth - I'd much rather a mold get lost on the front end than a completed mask on the back end. Hope it all works out. What'd you go with on your future PC? Or TBD?
  14. @Neomop to reiterate what I mentioned above - I don't believe the intent with these are to supplement the liner using any kind of inserts. The idea is that your foot goes in the liner with it getting molded to your foot. Think more like casting your foot. For anyone that's asked I don't think the idea is that you throw an insert into the mix: foot, liner, boot with both the liner and boot molded to your foot. Hope this helps.
  15. @goalieThreeOne believe the idea is that the liner alone takes the place of all other foot accoutrements you'd normally use in a "regular" skate so I'd say - no.
  16. Keeping it simple. Respect @agrare Good looking, classic lids - well played.
  17. @agrare navy on the one? Leaving them as-is or paint/wrap?
  18. @timrickmann I'm not telling you what to do - but if your little person is in junior pads (and likely rapidly growing) I would just stick with regular run of the mill lace as you've suggested rather than spend the money elsewhere. Guess you could argue that anything aftermarket would be transferable but I'd hone in on the solution before I spend the money. For what its worth - I think you are on the right track.
  19. Welcome aboard the board @timrickmann. If I'm understanding your description correctly - it sounds like the pads are UNDER-rotating - meaning more like this (if you are looking straight on at the knees)... \ / ... as opposed to this... / \ ... which I'd call OVER-rotating. Anwhow - you are on the right track. Generally if pads are under-rotating it means things (the toe and/or pad strapping) are too tight. If pads are over-rotating it means things are too loose. Hope this helps. Good luck. Also stumbled upon this Simmons article which you might find useful: https://simmonshockey.com/toe-ties-and-pad-rotation
  20. But - its NOT there @MTH. I mean - its a stretch to assume that Thrashers logo shaped glue mess housed a Thrashers logo. Pretty presumptuous on your part. FYI - this is sarcasm.
  21. I'm pretty sure that once upon a time on here somebody got the rebooted X-Men #1 (Jim Lee era) cover scene redone on a mask. Not finding a picture of the mask but here's a shot of the comic... ... pretty sure it was like a pencil drawn/colored theme... or maybe they just shared some in production shots (?).
  22. To add to the list... 1) White, black, stainless or gold cage (think Tuuka). 2) As far as I know the "Pro's Choice" and the "Velocity" are the same shell shape (what used to be the "Vapor" in the Bauer days - think Khabibulin/Khudobin/Tuuka) while the "Vision" is the 961 flavored shape (Allen/Howard/Markstrom and pretty much every other PC in "The Show"). 3) He used to have foam options but I believe now he's just down to a rubatex looking tan foam. That's been for quite awhile at least. For what its worth - as a guy that owns both the Vapor era PC (I went with no ear holes for paint) and a "Vision" I would echo what @Chenner29 said about fit and getting closer to the cage. The bend on the center bar of the 961 is definitely more pronounced and the foam is definitely thicker to the point where I never really got used to it coming from (2) of the Vapors. Hope this helps.
