  1. I know the CCM 3D fitted skates are made in Quebec and I assume the Bauer one's will be made in NA as well.
  2. Their media release: "OTNYMASK and SPORTMASK Agree to Merger FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Oakville, Ontario – Officers from leading goalie mask makers, OTNYMask and SPORTMASK officially announce today a merger between the two companies enabling them to better serve the head protection needs of goalies around the world. The merger permits the companies to more effectively utilize their resources, technologies and vast experience to develop and produce the finest head protection available for goalies of all levels from Professionals on through to youth and recreation league goalies. OTNYMask’s Matt Calabro said “I have been friends with Tony for years and have always admired his work. I am excited to join forces with him to produce and design new models using new technologies and new materials.” The merger also affords the unique position to control almost every component of goalie mask production in house with Canadian made raw materials and Canadian labor. This is applicable to all models under the respective brand names. The first collaboration will be the use of Innegra. Innegra is the lightest fiber commercially available and is impact resistant, ductile, tough, and dampens vibration. The Sportmask 515i will be the first to utilize this technology, followed by the release of the Sportmask Pro 2i & Pro 3i and the OTNY X2i & X3i in the first quarter of 2019. SPORTMASK’s Tony Priolo said, “I look forward to working with OTNY. This partnership brings the strengths of these two organizations together to make something special.” OTNY Masks will continue to be exclusively distributed through GoalieParts.com and CanadaGoalie.ca. Sportmask will continue to be distributed through various retail stores worldwide."
  3. Has anyone tried the G-Form padded compression shirt? They look pretty protective: https://g-form.com/ss01sale
  4. So looks like OTNY and Sportmask are merging:
  5. You would have to ask @Punisher Goalie to be certain, but it looks like the CCM cage fits on the Mage (with maybe a larger than normal gap at the top?). Not sure if a Mage cage fits on a CCM though.
  6. You have to contact Maltese directly by email now it seems like. Just FYI.
  7. I looked at one in store and the padded areas to me seemed like a thick low density foam. Makes it easier for movement but I’m not sure how much it would actually help with an impact. What I like from Bauer and other companies is the use of non-traditional foams like Poron that help cushion better (at least in theory).
  8. Yikes, was the P1 really worn down or just a flaw in the design? Makes me wonder how the pro's don't more often get broken ribs... Or maybe it goes undereported like concussions.
  9. With all of the hype surrounding the new Kenesky C/As in the NHL and the fact that the pro's like them because they are derivative of the Reebok P1, and with the new Boddam C/A that looks like a Passau clone, what do people think? Is Kenesky less of a copycat because they made some modifications to the design or is it just as egregious as directly cloning another company's unit? Also, what does it say about a small company like Passau that their chest protector is so well renowned that other companies now seem to be copying it? I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, just thought it was interesting.

If you don't mind my asking, was the pricing similar to Passau ($515 CAD for base unit)?
  11. Wow ok, it just looks exactly like a logoless Passau. Any association between Boddam and Passau or is Boddam just taking some major inspiration?
  12. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl-concerned-by-rise-in-goalie-concussions-1.1193829 And now TSN is reporting that the NHL is concerned with the rise in goalie concussions. Interesting topic that needs more attention.
  13. You'll have to review it! I'm sure @TheGoalNet and others (including myself) will want to hear about it. I have one on order!
  14. I have the same issue with Bauer masks (specifically the 960 XPM). While the width on the S/M is good, the length isn't, so the M/L works better for length but is too wide and would need a lot of extra foam. That's why I wear a different brand of mask that fits me better and will one day go the custom route (ie. Protechsport, etc.).

Not sure where you are, but The Hockey Shop in BC has a sale on the V7 non-carbon (850 CAD for the pads): http://goal.thehockeyshop.com/vaughn-velocity-v7-pro-xlw-senior-leg-pads.html Also, the other smaller companies that manufacture pads (Passau, JRZ, Battram, PAW, Kenesky, McKenney etc.) are usually much cheaper, more like 1300 CAD for pads than 2000 CAD like Vaughn and the other big brands. Of course if you really want Vaughn, then this is a moot point, but I would still consider it.
  16. I just ordered one and went with the Maltese as well. I like the sounds of your experience! Yeah it would be cool if they could be competing with the big brands like Kenesky currently is.
  17. Just saw this but haven't been able to find the source: Murray is practicing(?!?) while concussed and says he wears "the best helmet you can get." I agree that the Pro's Choice he uses is one of the best available, but I think his problem is how loosely he wears his mask! @TheGoalNet pointed out last year how loosely he wears his mask and that Dom at Pro's Choice does not intend his mask to be worn so loosely. How many concussions will it take for him to learn how to wear a mask properly? It's like banging your head against a wall (in more ways than one), and you cannot replace your brain. I think both skaters and goalies need to better understand how to wear a helmet.
  18. EFlex 1 anyone? What is Vaughn doing?? I mean I guess they’re just trying to get Price back, they’ll even make the graphic he likes!
  19. Did you ask for any custom options other than the embroidery? I am considering ordering one in the next 6 months or so, literally can't beat the price-to-protection ratio for a new chest protector. Frankly I'm surprised how expensive stock retail units are these days, especially from the companies that make them overseas at a fraction of the cost of the North American made ones. Oh well, it's the way of the world. Back on topic .

Radio silence from Vaughn? If so, that's a real bad look... Makes me think twice about buying their stuff.
  21. Looks like Wall has some new padding. Is it Poron?
