  1. Yeah, it’s not easy. Stand up was the method du jour. When you do butterfly, the pads only rotate 3/4 and there is a gap in the five hole. If I were getting a set like this now, it’d have to be 34”. There’s no knee landing area either. I played ok though. Had to improvise at times.
  2. Wore some older gear tonight at a skills clinic. •Heaton Pro90z leg pads 33” •Brian’s Thief catcher and Brian’s Airlite blocker. •John Brown 2100 C/A. •John Brown 2000 pants (Which I wear normally). The rest I wear normally. •Graf 750 Goaler Pro. •Eagle double cup. •PAW knee pads. •Promasque.
  3. I wouldn’t worry what a clown like that thinks about you. Anyway I took my pads out of my bag to try out carrying them separately when I walked from the rink back out to the car. Don’t know how you guys do it. Hated it. Do you put them on the opposite shoulder than your bag, the same shoulder or do you carry them in your hands? None of those ways seemed beneficial or possible to me. Wheel bag doesn’t really work for me anyway because we have a million steps leading into and in our house. They tend to fall apart, too. The backpack option seems intriguing to me.
  4. I love that commercial. In many ways I can relate. Hey we’re goalies, we KNOW defense wins championships.
  5. So you’d recommend I go with armor?
  6. I think it’s time I try a bungee-style toe-tie attachment. Although putting on the pad quickly is an added benefit, my main goals would be allowing for less strain on the hips and performance advantages. So after reading through this thread and the Prolaces vs. Monster thread, I’m leaning toward Prolaces. My question is, which model should I choose? I wear Graf 750 Goaler Pros with the Cobra cowling. I wear Simmons 586 pads. I’m sure you’re aware that the Cobra cowlings are pretty cumbersome. The 586 pads are soft and actually have torsional flex. I use regular cord toe-ties with no slack, but I still get rotation without injury due to the taper on the boot of the pad and the overall torsional flex throughout the pad. So do I chose standard or armor? If I went standard it appears I’d need to go custom if I wanted red, correct?
  7. I have this bag. It was a gift so not sure of the cost. It is durable and the oval shaped opening is great. Only issue is the straps are long so it hangs a little low making it slightly awkward to carry. It’s also quite big.
  8. All hail 1990s technology. @bc30 found these on eBay and shared it to me because he knew I was looking for replacement cowlings for when my current Graf Goaler Pros get too low on steel. And yes I want the old style cowlings. Was a steal.
  9. Ok I’ll try that and report back to you. Perhaps my bag will be in the classifieds if this method works. Hopefully I won’t hit any sobriety check points on the way home. Walking the yellow line will be difficult.
  10. I have a Brown carry bag. We have a partially finished basement with a narrow staircase. But that’s where we keep our equipment. I pack my bag in the basement and then carry it upstairs as a backpack. To bring it back downstairs, I pull it over the threshold and walk it down the stairs while it drags slowly. Works well. This bag does have a U-shaped opening.
  11. Despite clearing history and quitting out of the browser, I’m still getting the Amazon gift card redirect. I’m seeing it on my three devices, all apple products. I’m also getting it on other sites. The GF is getting it on her Lenovo laptop and she’s never on this site. Dafuq.
  12. Am I the only one getting redirected to a Amazon gift card spam site? Happens every few clicks.
  13. We won our league in the bottom division. I was subbing as a forward. I’m on the lower right next to my girl. She scored the tying goal that allowed us to start the come back and win 3-1. We got the cup and wool hats with the league logo on it. We beat an undefeated* team. *They had an overtime loss during the regular season, to us.
  14. Wow, two fullright goalies in a row.
  15. So I tried on Brian’s gloves in Perani’s in Columbus, Ohio (Westerville). It was a model with the BOA system. My question is, how do I tighten the second glove? Once I put on one glove and turn the BOA crank to tighten it, I no longer have a set of usable fingers to turn the crank on the second glove. I suppose if I put the catch glove on first and peeled back the back of the hand protector I could get to it with the blocker fingers. Has anyone tried?
  16. I play at an outdoor rink that has a roof and buildings on three sides. I’m in the Hartford area of Connecticut. The rink is in Simsbury which is in the hills. It’s slightly cooler there than in my town probably because of the elevation. I’ve found I can wear exactly what I normally wear indoors if the temperature stays above 20F. The roof and surrounding buildings help with dampening the wind. Toe warmers with the adhesive on one side are helpful when it gets cold. Make sure your gloves dry out entirely before you wear them outdoors. A wet glove will make your hand cold real fast. Also blocker palms that have holes will be a problem. If you can get thin gloves to wear under your goalie gloves, that will help when it gets cold. I have cotton gloves I only wear if it’s really cold. Don’t take your blocker off to put in the pegs, the cold metal against your bare hand will start your hand off cold and it won’t get better. If it’s real cold, you’ll want to wear underclothing that isn’t designed to let air in. I have UA cold gear that I’ll wear once we get into January and February.
  17. Here is how I pack my bag with pads in the bag. The chest protector is leaning against the bag. I put that on top, but removed it to show what would go under it. This bag also has an end compartment to keep dry clothing and towels. Also here is a picture of a toiletries bag the missus gave me as a gift. I sometimes shower at the rink. Other times I wait until I get home.
  18. I will. I’m just wondering why it disappeared. Maybe because I posted it around the time the clocks moved back it got eaten by a glitch?
  19. @TheGoalNet So I can't send a message to you, I get an error message that my inbox is full even though I only have one message in there. My issue is I posted a video in the Technique section in user videos last night and it was on there, successfully posted. Except it has now since disappeared. The entire post including the video and words. Any idea why?
  20. The goalie in the game after mine tonight had some nice swag. This was in Newington, CT in the CHL. Are you a member on here swag man?
  21. I'm always amazed at how you guys notice this stuff. I couldn't tell the difference between two mask makers if my life depended on it.
