  1. Is that guy wearing a Columbia soccer jersey? James Rodriguez?
  2. Interesting that The Cat is routing both boot straps through the back hole in the skates. I’ve always seen and assumed one boot strap goes through the back hole and the other through the middle hole of the skate.
  3. I see that “Two-different-sock-guy” is a worldwide phenomenon.
  4. Are those his kills in the background?
  5. Forgot about this thread. We have an addition since I last posted in this thread. Here’s Jethro. He joined us when we lived in Toledo, Ohio a little over a year ago. He and Sultan are frenemies. So we have a Connecticut cat and an Ohio cat living in Memphis, Tennessee.
  6. Is anyone else tired of hearing Pierre Maguire blame everything on the goalies? I am. Although, I suppose I could have ended the sentence after his name. Ed Olczyk is the same way.
  7. Sorry to hear. Thanks for sharing. Do you have other skating opportunities around? Or are you retired?
  8. Dallas put on a masterclass on redirecting shots in that game. At least three tipped goals by Stars attackers.
  9. If you get the 2200, I’d love to hear how you like it. I was scared away by it’s shape and went with the more conventional one. To those who carry their pads separately, do you really need a goalie bag for the rest of your stuff? Wouldn’t a player bag be sufficient?
  10. I was fortunate to get onto a good team here in my new home, Memphis, Tennessee. The rink is the only one for hundreds of miles and is actually in Mississippi. Only twenty minutes from my house. Surprisingly good hockey with tons of transplants due to FedEx having headquarters here. Plus local kids from Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas who play here. Ole Miss club hockey plays here, too.
  11. I have this one. https://brownhockey.com/products/ac/b/2400 The dimensions are different than the Brown bag you’re looking at. Mine is big and at times ungainly. A negative for me is the shoulder straps are a little long, making the bag hang a little low. This in turn causes me to lean in the other direction to balance the bag as I walk. Positives are that it is durable, it has the U-shape opening and a separate end compartment. Personally, I’ve never been able to carry my pads outside my bag. I’ve tried it and it just didn’t work for me. I’ve had a smaller Brown bag, what the site calls the 1800, two Vaughn roller-bags (The zipper broke and Vaughn replaced it for free), a TPS roller-bag and a large Don Simmons bag. Although, the roller-bags make it easier to get your gear in and out of the building, I found the extra bulk of the frame makes it harder to get in and out of the car, house and locker room. Also the frames tend to break down. Incidentally, Brown does make a roller-bag, it’s just not on the site. If you’re interested contact them directly about it.
  12. New gear isn’t just for goalies. Got new Eagle gloves made in NYI/EDM colors. Decided to get all color coordinated for a recent stick and puck. Helmet is black, so I left it out of the picture.
  13. No, I do not have a soldering iron, nor do I plan on getting one. Good news, though. The toe-bridges do fit the other pads using the bolts. So perhaps this was all a waste of time for me. But maybe this thread can be a resource for someone else in the future.
  14. Unfortunately, no combination of heat and nail polish is loosening the nut and bolt. I likely don’t have the right combination of tools either, and I’m not going to get more tools for this. I also don’t want to do any more damage to the nuts and bolts and leather (jenpro?) with all this giggering. I’ll likely try and attach the Prolaces along with the toe-bridge it’s stuck to to the other set of pads I’m looking to try these with. The holes on the toe-bridge don’t match up with the holes on the pad, so I’ll have to use cord instead. The adjustable clamps are too big to get around the nut so they’re of no use. The other tools require hand strength to hold them closed. It’s just not working. Bleh
  15. I found the nail polish remover after all. I’m applying it now. The Turpenoid didn’t work even with heat. I’ll try the vice grips. The side pictured is what I was referring to. If nothing works I’ll likely skip it. I was only thinking of switching these to another set temporarily anyway.
  16. I don’t remember what color the container was but the glue itself is clear. I think the bigger issue I’m having is I’m getting no torque because the nut-end isn’t flat-sided, so I have to hold it with pliers while using a screwdriver or drill on the other side. I was thinking the same thing about the nail polish removal, but it turns out we no longer have any in the house. I do have turpenoid which is the modern equivalent of turpentine for oil painting (art). Perhaps that would work.

I think the bigger issue I’m having is I’m getting no torque because the nut-end isn’t flat-sided, so I have to hold it with pliers while using a screwdriver or drill on the other side. I’m not interested in cutting the leather apart.
  18. [Also posted in Prolaces thread] Ok, I want to transfer my Prolaces from one set of pads to another. However, I used Loctite when I installed them and they’re not budging. I’ve used a heat gun and had no luck. Is there a solution I should try to loosen the Loctite?
