Honestly dude, I skated with a bunch of Jr, NCAA, and NHL guys a couple weeks ago. Took a bomb off the toe from Matt Nieto, didn't feel a thing.

Something interesting on this set. Look at the pattern in the crease on both gloves... I have never noticed this on Vaughn gloves before. I wonder what it could be!
  3. Changing/altering a factory install of padding in a mask or helmet voids HECC warranty.
  4. Pacific Rink told me they're doing a goalie bag this year. If it's anything like their player bag, I'm sold https://www.pacificrink.com/collections/bags/products/player-bag?variant=23544651782

These look great. I like how you took elements of the Habs logo without putting the entire logo on one piece outright. Very subtle!
  6. I’ve seen the True bag up close and it is very similar to the Warrior bags. I wouldn’t be surprised if True and Warrior contracted the work out to the same company (I’d suspect JRZ). I liked the Warrior bag over the True as it had vents. My main complaint was that it doesn’t have enough pockets for all my knick knacks (tape, stones, steel). I moved on to a Passau backpack bag, but will be probably shedding it soon. It seems like every month something on it breaks and I’m stitching it back together.
  7. I really think mask wraps are gonna be the future. Faster, better detail, cheaper. If I end up getting another mask, that's what I'm gonna do.

No, website is undergoing renovation. It's still got the old stuff on there. Here's a snip off their Facebook. Things that stand out to me: Thinner core pad, triangular side roll Downward angled knee block (I'll probably go without this) Mag-loc straps (I'll go without this as well) Custom graphic along the calf wrap Two tone logos

You are able to order the new line now. My set is 8-10 weeks out.

Nothing too crazy to share. The gear's gonna be nasty (the good kind) Pads are thinned out with a smaller side roll, overall weight is lighter than Optik. I'm taking some gear modding/build theories (separate post, still working on putting it together!) I've cobbled together over the past year and have made some requests to change some of the layup of the gear.

  12. See, when my guys fall down, they are actually carrying the puck They skate pretty well without it. Then again, they have to, because they usually are chasing after the puck carrier because they got smoked with a head fake at the blue line. lol So, whether or not your dude clipped an edge, I'm still envious that your guys are squaring up to the shooter inside the face off dots
  13. 8 guys, 1 net I skate occasionally in practice environments with kids back in town from their junior, D1, and pro teams This post just made me realize that I see more shot blocks in those (again, PRACTICE) sessions than on my own beer league team

I wanna say I have either the 1915 or the 2015. I told him the 5500 was my old favorite glove and he built something with a similar feel. Couple reasons why I think it's better - Cleaner break than the 5500. I felt like the 5500 had two breaks, one like the CCM600 and the other like a CCM590. The Kenesky one has a single defined break that feels very natural, slightly more toward the thumb than a CCM600 True one piece. The 9580 that came out a couple years ago was a two piece glove internal with one piece of jenpro covering it. Larger cuff opening in the back. Better mobility. For your second question. with the Velocity style glove, I felt my hand is cocked forward ("fingers in front of heel") like I'm palming a basketball. I get the performance benefits of it, as it puts you in the position to smother the puck from an aerial angle, but it just feels way too unnatural for me.
  15. Metaphysical question, like the tree in the forest. If a product is never delivered to a customer, does it ever exist?
  16. I got some good stuff off Amazon, but I'm in the US. 3/16" thickness is what you're after.

I was a 5500 guy for a number of years. The biggest issue for me with the Velocity style glove is that my hand felt cocked forward whereas with the 5500 it was more of a neutral position. I believe you can still custom order the 5500 from your desired retailer. Barring that, Kenesky makes a glove that IMO is superior to the 5500.
  18. When held perpendicular to the ice, a tilt in the board like that is designed to mitigate aerial angle of the puck and keep the puck from popping up and over (helps goalie maintain eyes on puck). This is the main purpose. If you are in good position with sufficient depth, you will rarely need to extend the blocker so the toe points to the boards (parallel to the ice) Here's Greiss with a textbook example.
  19. They are both good sticks and you can't go wrong either way. I think it depends on what you are after. Want curve selection and a stick that will last forever? Go Warrior. If you are a gearhead like me and like tech, the 2S Pro is the way to go. It's the better performing stick. I do have concerns about durability because it's so light, but haven't experienced any issues yet. I was initially reticent to try it because it's only available at retail in the P31 curve (yuck). I've learned to love it, like Chinese dim sum. Looks disgusting, tastes amazing. It's significantly lighter - I handed the other goalie mine at the end of a skate and he told me to "let it go" thinking I was still gripping it. The vibration/feedback from a shot hitting the heel or paddle is significantly less. You feel it maybe a smidge more than a traditional foam core. The flex is a bit whippier, which I like.
  20. Has anyone gone and read the new website? Some incredible snippets off the HAL page: "OUR PROPRIETY (sic) DRAGON SKIN SYNTHETIC LEATHER IS LIGHT AND FLEXIBLE WHILE BEING EXTREMELY DURABLE. " "WE SEE A LOT OF COPYCATS USING MARINE GRADE VINYL. THAT MIGHT BE FINE FOR ARTS AND CRAFTS BUT HOCKEY ISN'T ARTS AND CRAFTS. " I'm waiting for Billy Mays (RIP) to pop out and exclaim, "But wait, that's not all..."
