So.... I tried on some 33+2 in the store. And they were huge. See below. I've been a Bauer Small with the flat Vapor boot for the last 4 years or so. This is my first Vaughn pad. After talking with Vaughn, I decided to go down to a 31". Per Vaughn, going from 33" to 32" is 1/2" on the shin and 1/2" on the top. And from 32" to 31" is 1/2" on the shin and 1/2" on the boot.

From his profile, it looks like he is in Canada. Wouldn't be surprised if Monkey did not update the wait time.

For what it's worth, I'm currently in conversation to get a set of SLR4s and I was told 6-7 weeks, as of a couple days ago.
  5. Looks like you can order customs direct from True now? Hmm...
  6. If you have Firefox, you can click the "Reader View" button and it bypasses the paywall. The whole article should be available.
  7. I'd defnitely check out the HF2 if you can. Your old steel should fit if you're going into the same size skate. It's a bit pricier than the Elite, but I think the thermoformability and hinge and the resulting performance increase are worth it. Stores should let you bake them to see how they feel before you buy. True TF9 might be worth it especially if it is on deep discount. There's a new line of Catalyst goalie skate that is coming soon but I don't think it's going to be a huge change as going from a traditional skate to Konekt would be.
  8. PureGoalie is having a 20% off sale for President's Day. Use code "PREZDAY20" for 20% off. True 12.2 35+2 only, $1,152.78 before shipping and sales tax. SLR4s rolled into my shop sometime in the last week. Knee blocker feels nice and stable, close to Stabilislide stiffness. The catcher felt like a mix between a 590 and 580 break. It had a bit of the flop in the tee that the 580s are known for. Palm felt really beefy too. Blocker felt pretty good too, but they need to tighten up/thin out the palm materials, IMO. But I could be too used to a Bauer palm.
  10. Another Goalie Monkey Brick Wall Special Prices good until February 13th. Some crazy pricing here but limited color and sizes. Warrior GT2 Pro SR leg pads for $449.98 - down from original MSRP of $1,499. CCM EF5.9 INT leg pads for $299.98 - down from original MSRP of $619.
  11. There was another slightly older, Athletic article - https://theathletic.com/4285023/2023/03/23/nhl-goalie-pads-gear/
  12. Sad - I thought the material and design on that backside looked exactly like a US pad.
  13. Some pics and video from GoalieGearNerd Looks like they brought that nash-like material back for the leg channel and back of the pad! 2024-02-03 17.41.15 3294967792883586650_2765955615.mp4
  14. Went to a local NHL team's locker room sale a year or two back and got several Under Armour pants. They look like this - https://www.icewarehouse.com/Under_Armour/descpage-UAHCL20.html?from=gshop&gad_source=1 but have grippy material on the shins. I think they were $20 each, brand new. I don't need the velcro sock tabs or grip, but $20 for Under Armour pants seemed like a great deal. As for tops, I have a couple of the older Reebok (Speedwick? PlayDry?) long-sleeve shirts. They look kinda like this - https://sidelineswap.com/gear/apparel/base-layers-compression/6563003-reebok-play-dry-base-layer-compression-shirt-short-sleeve-size-men-s-large. I like these a lot since they feel more like cotton than some other baselayers out there.
  15. I'm gonna guess that's pretty accurate - or at least up-to-date - since they're listing the Hazardous pads. Looks like my guess was pretty accurate! I wonder what's more demoralizing for a company - the damn-near-overnight jump of CCM goalies to True, or the slow bleed-out of Vaughn to other brands.
  16. Was using Google Image Search to try to get some Bauer Digiprint ideas and came across this. Makes me wonder - where are we at now 10 years later? My guess: The number of goalies that were CCM/Reebok are now all True. The number of goalies that were Vaughn are now Bauer, maybe a little less. The number of goalies that were Bauer are split now between Vaughn and CCM. The number of Brians goalies is pretty similar. Obviously no Warrior and no Koho (goodbye Jonas Hiller).
  17. Be nice! (But yeah, I don't know how to break that news to him) Shout out to my captain who put it together. I'm fairly certain this is the Axis XF set I'll be getting in a couple months. Jerseys are done by Men's League Sweaters.... but their 60G seems a little smaller than my 58G Adidas practice jersey - I have a little trouble getting the MLS jersey on.
  18. Hmm... swapping to a Hazardous 595 blocker doesn't change half-cuff/one-piece cuff options. The Hazardous customizer also has some warnings about blocker options that are not available if you select 585 with binding, but 585 isn't even an option anymore. 585 is still an option on Catalyst, though. Sounds like True needs to make some fixes to the customizer.
  19. Was looking at the Hazardous customizer. 1. Weird that the blocker cuff only has a half-piece option. Custom catalog has options for both half- and one-piece options. 2. There's an option for Board Angle, but only one option - Regular Face. There's no mention of Board Angles on the custom catalog. A sign of things to come?
  20. Sportmask and OTNY are based in Canada, and I think they have CSA certified options. And as @chile57says, Apex, formerly known as Coveted, might have some CSA approved options for you. There's probably a Pro's Choice megathread somewhere in this Masks subforum - but none of his masks are CSA certified, as far as I know. Plus he's located in the USA and they are pretty pricey so you'd have to deal with currency conversion, which would not be in your favor, and border transit times.
  21. I've noticed this too with my Vapor 90. There's been a couple times that I was sure I had it covered, but I didn't quite have the ice seal I thought I had. That and the pocket shape isn't quite the same as a CCM/True 580. I'm now debating moving back to a US-style catcher when the new Shadow launches.
  22. I've been getting pro palms and reinforced tees on my Bauers since Ultrasonic (so four models - US, HL1, Mach, HL2) and never had much of an issue breaking them in. I always put them in a baseball glove steamer - not too hot and for no more than 3 minutes - work it while it's warm and then tying it up at night. Plus the standard working-with-it-while-watching-some-TV. Always works great for me. Did the same with all my CCMs (EF4, Axis 2, EF5), also ordered with pro palms and it worked great. The 580-break Axis 2 was especially good - it wowed a lot of customers and spawned more than a few custom orders. I'm surprised you're having issues with Brian's - even their top of the line stuff isn't bad out of the box. The worst of the catchers off-the-shelf are the CCMs.
