  1. I had and still have these concerns. When I switched from my One80 to the 700X, the difference was very noticeable for me and the strain was very present, again for me. It has gotten better but when I tire out and get sloppy, I can say I wish I was in my older Bauer 3000 from back when. I have gotten shots to the toe box and it didn't kill but it doesn't feel great. I got also hit on the outside side and that one stung. I think that, until there is another shift in how we (goalies) play and should there be another equipment revolution, things will l remain where they are. Maybe, at one point, the number of knee and hip surgeries will outweigh the performance benefits and they will rethink this whole blade height/attack angle thing and get back to something more "normal" or reasonable for the sake of our playing career span. Especially in the elite levels. A hurt goalie does have a financial impact on the teams balance sheets.
  2. Side note...if anyone came across a new pair of 1X in size 9 in a shop in Canada, please DM me and I'll give them a call. Thanks
  3. i've noticed that the newer Bauer skates have a less higher toe box than the original Vapor series. Has anyone else noticed this as well? Those who have switched over to the latest versions, have you noticed a difference in feel?
  4. FOUND! Thanks @ZeroGravitas
  5. There's a lot of Patriots up for sale around here but either the price is high or the mileage is too high or it's an "as is" ad and those can be a true can of worms. A Cherokee would be sweet. Classic road trip SUV.

Were you planning on getting pads as well? Didn't notice if you mentioned it. Some months ago they had a crazy low promo price of like 1500$ for a full set or near that. I would of loved to have had the chance.

Ok...I think it's about time for an update now. I wanna hear how that glove feels in action. Videos are welcomed.
  8. Just to let you know that I passed on both vehicles. Still searching. Not easy to find reliable wheels for under 5000$, especially a compact pickup that doesn't date from the late 90s lolll.
  9. Not worried about shipping ETA really, as long as I get the package. I'll DM you.
  10. Didn't know how else to call them, lolll These are from my GT2 pads. Looking for a spare set for an experiment. In very good shape and fair price please. I'm in the Ottawa area. Thanks
  11. @Fullright I'd ask this guy in his face if he's the one signing your paycheck. I'm asuming this is a men's league/pickup. If so, you're paying to play 90min. If they want to stay longer and you don't the choice belongs to you, you owe him/them nothing. If you don't want to deal with it, walk. If you still care to keep that ice time, don't let a young punk try to Alpha his way into the pack.
  12. I'm in the Gatineau/Ottawa area btw. Given the high rates for shipping such an item for us regular Joes, maybe local pickup is best...unless you got the coin
  13. Bought it last week from a local guy. He bought it new for 200$CND, used it twice. It's in great shape. Didn't realise how big it is. Won't work for me. It fits my Senior XL gear and I can put my 35" Warrior pads in if I wanted. 44x24x24 If you have a pickup or a van, you won't have a problem. Tons of handles/grip all over. Asking 100$ CND. Shipping is extra. I'm good with e-transfer. Here's a link to what it looks like with description. If you insist on pics, I will provide. https://goalie.purehockey.com/product/ccm-pro-goalie-wheel-bag-2016-senior/itm/21248-41/
  14. I don't remember getting stingers in mine. Then again, maybe it was modified. I did buy it from a goalie friend when we were just teens. Or maybe I just caught everything in the pocket back then . I was split save/windmill hungry in my youth
  15. Adding more to this "geezer" thread... What defunk gear brand would you brink back to use if you could? It can be more than one and go as detailed as you want. I would love to bring back my Eagle PMW1 pads and TB10 blocker and TT10 glove. Lite like air but still old school looking. Next I would bring back my Heaton Helite Pro Z pads and modify the landing area like I wanted back then but never got to. Finally I would love to own again the Jofa/Bourdon trapper with the outside finger stalls. It was a heavy glove but a real vacuum and looked bad ass.
  16. I finally figured out how to modernise my old school tricks. This will definitely improve my penalty shot save %
  17. Imagine this is me and the gear is Warrior GT2. That's about the extent of my "gear rotation"
  18. I did try the wide version and it was an absolute no as well. Beside, "wide" in conventional shoes is not in the toe box but at the sides of the foot, which in my case defeats the purpose or is not where I need it.
  19. Any skates that are baked or sharpened can't be returned, no exchange or refunds. But I do agree, that would make a difference.
  20. So I went to get my skates sharpened yesterday and while I was there, I asked if I could try on the TF7s. Talking with the manager, he said that True runs about 1/4 to half a size bigger compared to Bauer. So I tried on a 9.5 regular and wide. Now looking at the toe box on the TF7/TF9, you'd think "man, that's a wide squared toe box", kinda like barefoot shoes that I'm used to wearing, ie plenty of wiggle and splay room for my toes. Well to my big surprise, I was wrong. And quite honestly very disappointed, and then sad. Here is pretty much what I was hoping and thought I was gonna feel but quite the opposite: What he explained to me which makes complete sense is that the toe box has been highly reinforced for protection and thus gives the large squared toe box look we see. This is an illusion and the fit is pretty much like other skates. Closest I have ever felt to that tightness is when I tried on some CCMs in my usual size 9. Same feeling as the shoe pic on the right. The ankle wrap and heel cup felt amazing though. Should I go to a 10 just for good measure? I could try again next time, maybe this time the TF9, but I was so much hoping that I was going to move on from my Vapors, stop the foot aches and have a better overall foot protection. I got a shot on top of the boot on the left skate, left side near the lacing during warm-ups on Wednesday night and it was not a party dance move let-me-tell-you. I'm even considering hunting down some cowling skates as my style of goaltending as I age might revert back to the old school ways and today's skates aren't built for that.
  21. Wait til Tommy Salo retires. Just wait...you'll see.
