  1. If anything, with my GT2 glove, I would replace the double T with a single and make it float but at about a quarter to half of what Dennis does with his. Call me weird but I prefer a shallower pocket.
  2. @Sport2 I'd consider browsing the web hard for another double break set or some well broken in single break from Vaughn or older Eflex models. If you are willing to go the new custom route, I suggest the following in order of less to more expensive: - Boddam - Battram - Kenesky - Brown It's true that some pads today are pre-curved but sometimes you need that little extra angle on the thigh rise to close things up. My GT2s are angled but will never compare to the double break V3s I wore some 15-20 years ago. I don't have the best flare or 5hole closure despite my training efforts but I'm content at this moment with letting time break down my Warriors.
  3. @Wonder35 that last pic is so old, the boards are yellowed lolll. Love it! Amazing how our chest protectors looked like a simple winter jacket under our jerseys, eh I'm 54, played in the old ways of Plante, Fuhr, Resch before modernising my game in 2006 to what is today. Hard on the hips/knees/ankles but tolerable. Has anyone done the same and eventually reverted back to the old style due to pain or simple physical limitations? How'd that go? Aside from the 2 pad stack that I still pull out now and then, I can't remember the last time I made a kick save. I dread making a skate save with my no cowling skates. My butterfly instincts are now ingrained. I love the VH and will choose it 3 times out of 5 over the RVH.

Another input on my GT2 pads. After watching the Chris Dudo anf Bonesy video colab on Youtube, I've decided to try the strapping setup Chris had going on on his G6 (separated the knee strap from the neoprene one and basically clipped the nylon one across and velcroed the neoprene to the calf) and it actually worked out well. Aside from difficultly walking from the dressing room to the ice, it was all good, there was plenty of room for my knee pads, full pad rotation and the nylon strap acted as my pull back strap when scrambling around. We'll see what the next skate says.
  5. Coming back with another update. I've worn this unit about 5 times now. Last 2 games I've worn it out and untied and it works well (this one's for you Coop ). I am a little concerned about rib protection though. As an outie it spreads out around my pants creating a fan effect which of course pulls the sides away and slightly exposes my ribs. I haven't been hit there so far but I wonder still.
  6. I'm back and need some quick advice on 2 vehicles. So any mechanics here that can take a moment to look up these links on Kijiji and let me know if either are worth it. Thanks in advance... https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/gatineau/nissan-murano-2005/1661794878 https://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/gatineau/2008-subaru-outback/1649949750
  7. From what I remember with popular brand names, Brian's tend to sit high at the waist. If you want, maybe consider Mckenney as well.
  8. If this is the case, maybe there's a lack of support here that "Soup" needs and isn't getting. He's looking for some answers on his own?
  9. It could be because of the forward pitch? Apparently it took some getting used to when the G5 introduced it.
  10. It hurts me to see Campbell desperately looking for answers to re-find his game in the wrong place, his gear. When he was in his Vaughns in Toronto, he was in the zone. It's the damn injuries that screwed him over. It reminds me when Theodore switched from Vaughn to Itech mid season cause he was in a slump in Montreal and his performance just kept slipping. Jack is better than that and I hope he can get his head straight for what's left of his career or he'll just get dropped like so many other hopefuls over the years.
  11. With the Grant Fuhr tribute save
  12. I've had the privilege of wearing the following over the years (all models used at one time by a pro during their career as well): - Cooper GK1 (they were a cream coloured vynil) - D&R GK (they were white plastic with a brownish leather hinge between the thigh and the knee, they kind of looked like the prehistoric Koho) - John Brown - Luongo custom knee setup (I think Sara at PAW had her hands involved in those. They could be attached to your pants) - Bauer Vapor 1X - Brian's Optik - Warrior (currently wearing the senior version only. The pros are CONSIDERABLY too much beefier)
  13. I watched a G6 full review on Youtube today from a goalie Chris Dudo. (One of ours?) He mentioned a few personal mods to his strapping the pads. He brought up some very interesting points that I agree with in his suggestions to Warrior. I own GT2 pads. I have been brainstorming on my strapping setup quite a bit since i bought them in 2021-22. I've wondered if the neoprene knee sling is necessary? Could I get away with just using the nylon clip strap? Or how about vice versa? When the velcro starts letting go, can I install some leather or nylon straps instead? What have you done on yours if anything? MODS: If this merits its own thread, feel free to move it. Just let me know what title it will be under please. Thanks.
  14. I find that anywhere you are in this world, proper medical care/assessment/diagnoses is a straight hit or miss. Sometimes you hit gold and the extent to which the doc goes to help find the "what" and "why" instead of surface guessing and simple symptom treatment is a HUGE welcome.
  15. All seems well but I'm not gonna drop 1200$ on a custom skate.
  16. So after nearly a full year of no ice, I finally went out there and tested the ankle in a simple pick-up game. The experience was uncomfortable and I got sore towards the end but I managed to survive the 50 minutes and although a little tender, there wasn't any real swelling afterwards nor the following morning. So other then working through the soreness and lack of conditioning, all seems good. Only true bummer now is that after so long without doing butterflies and such, I tweaked my left knee somehow during the game and it only became really apparent the following day. Did I sprain some ligaments? Could it be a level 1-2 tear? There's no blood trauma but it's tender and walking is a bitch. Wish I could of kept nimble and flexible throughout my rest/recovery period and maybe I wouldn't be probably injured differently. The journey continues.
  17. This rings big with me. I wish since leg pads do sit higher now with the flat boot cradle, that they would shave down on the holders at least an inch. I so much want to give the TF9 a try but they might actually be taller than my Vapor 170 which those alone took me a full season just to get used to the height.
  18. Has anyone seen the senior version yet? I inquired on Instagram but they haven't responded yet.
  19. If the shoulder caps weren't so big and smaller arm blocks, i'd consider one for sure. It just looks too oversized for my taste.
  20. It looks so much like my 2S Pro. Any differences?
  21. I heard in the InGoal Mag youtube video that the Bauer Pro Series isn't current NHL regulation, it's the arms I think. Not that it matters to most of you but if you like streamlined or play Junior/College, it might be a deal breaker.
  22. My Maltese is bang on in my opinion. Nice neck height, good bib coverage and no elastic give at the back, stays in place the whole game. The velcro needs replacing but that's it. It saved me a couple times. If anything, a full kevlar coverage would make it complete. Otherwise, I've been using it for 10 years and am not too willing to let it go. I think the closest model is the Roughneck. Too bad Phil couldn't keep Maltese going.
  23. It's easy for those with deep pockets. For the rest of us, it's often a hit or miss. Too bad there isn't a demo program at every shop or company.
  24. For me, the catch glove makes or breaks a set if I buy the whole kit. That is where I'd start for myself before pulling the trigger all the way. Why I'm big with my Warrior set.
  25. One thing I learned is that when you do it right, it feels effortless, kinda makes you wonder if you forgot to do something it was too easy lolll. You know what |I'm talking about.
