  1. Aye, mate - ah ken whit tis lik' tae hae that scots sensibility aboot dosh - lol!
  2. They match his stick colour though…
  3. You got married - and willingly, it would seem. Based on that, I’d say that YOU don’t want you to be happy.
  4. Forgot to mention: for anybody in the Ottawa area who might be interested in having him photograph a game of yours and/or your kids, you can check out his website here: https://starkglow.pixieset.com/
  5. Looking good in the crease there. Much better movement than I can manage (hence posting stills vice video from my game - lol!)
  6. Well, let’s see here: - I was in uniform - everyone had helmets - people in different uniforms were shooting at me - people on either side got tanked after So yeah, I went to war - with an appropriate haircut. And a war correspondent to photograph the carnage - LOL!
  7. A buddy of mine had been taking pictures of his son’s hockey games as a hobby for the past several years. I asked him to come out to our last beer league game, and he got some pretty nice shots
  8. Hey John! just curious- who do you mean by “one of the top fitters in (our) town”…? I’m fine for skates just now, but might be a good tip for me to store for later, if you’ve found a place you’re happy with.
  9. Not wishing for the Leafs Nation prayers (that’s what they been reduced to) to be answered - far from it. I’m just noting that it used to be more fun to give them the gears. I still - and always will - ultimately delight in their playoff ED (elimination disfunction)
  10. Same here - but it was more fun when there was an outside chance they’d actually win. Now you buzz a Leafs fan, and there’s no come back, no fight - just agreement.
  11. On the one hand, I feel for him because he is arguably the closest thing to one of us in The Show. On the other hand, Dude… you’re in The Show.
  12. Yup. They’re gonna need their goalie to show up - not just for one or two games, but for ALL seven of them .
  13. Sold and picked up yesterday, after being up for only two days. The guy who bought them was great - not a goalie himself, but played hockey his whole life, and all his closest hockey friends are goalies. He also coaches his son, who wants to play goalie (which the Dad is super excited about, and wants to give him the best possible experience- unlike most wet-blanket parents who want to discourage it). While he only needed the blocker and trapper, he bought the bundle for his hockey association (which, like most associations, has woefully outdated goalie gear to loan out to aspiring goalies who are drawn to the position from watching the big names in the NHL, only to be given the gear that would have been worn by goalies 20-25 years ago…) Anyway, was very happy to have the stuff go to what seemed like a great guy who is trying to do good for his kid, and his kid’s hockey club. There are still some good people out there
  14. So funny thing - two, actually. I went to pack my bag after getting these, and sitting at the bottom of my black hockey bag was my “lost” black sweatband! So now I have 4 (funny to me, not so funny to my wife). The other funny thing is that I played twice with them now, and I don’t think they retain as much as the Bauer ones I got with my bucket. I had sweat running down into my face both skates: I was really excited to read your endorsement, @ThatCarGuy, since you’re playing more often at a high level - and in stinking-hot Texas! LOL! Maybe I got one that looks similar to yours, but a different brand…? Maybe I’m doing it wrong - there were no instructions ()
  15. Full disclosure: I’m no Binnington fan. But if a goalie is gonna blocker-punch (not that I condone that), I believe the gold standard is somewhere around here:
  16. Another rough day in the “family member’s gear” category, as I finally posted my daughter’s goalie gear on Kijiji - almost a full season after she said she was done with hockey. Definitely one of the harder hockey moments in my life
  17. Back on topic, lost one of my sweatbands somewhere in the locker room/laundry room/furnace room shuffle, so got these. Will try them out tomorrow night
  18. Gentlemen, I think you’ll find, refer to it as a “re-sale-value-focused” style of play. It’s very hard to pull off - but having coined the term, and mastered the style, my gear will last the rest of my life!
  19. Yup! I’m still on a Sherwood that I don’t love - but I can’t justify buying a new twig either. Soon… I mean… soon-ish. Hopefully…
  20. I’m just not a good enough goalie for toe-tie/RVH technique links to have even occurred to me - LOL!
  21. Actually, they’re the cheap knock-off brand “Cooper” - so not in fact the “best name in sports” brand, which of course is Pooper.
  22. Yeah, I’m re-doing the furnace room “museum”, and decided to hang them up there.
  23. Well spotted! We weren’t allowed to touch anything, but it looked liked the kind of foam you’d expect to see inside a 90s era Pro”helmet”. Very minimal strapping on those; pretty modern! And yet… both goalies use skate lace toe-toes; I guess we’re still a couple of years away from goalies at this level having only known some variation of the bungee cord. interesting- if fatalist- message on Mac’s stick, as seen in the pic. The goalie coach, Andrew Mercer, was also there. I was fortunate enough to work with him briefly. A few very interesting drills, coming from a different perspective; I tried one with the goalie on my kid’s team that I coach, and it worked very well!
  24. A little while back, I took part in a coaching clinic offered by the Ottawa 67s coaching staff (which was fantastic). We also got a tour of the room, so I snapped some pics. I don’t know my chesties that well, but is this a hybrid/frankenchestie…(?)
