  1. Weird; on my team, they have fights about who “has to play up” when we have too many D. Average age is approximately 56, so that might have something to do with it.
  2. Now back to my regularly scheduled Friday beer (Boy, I hope you’re at work when you see this, @SaveByRichter35 - lol!)
  3. Wow… that really drives it home, doesn’t it, you sick fuck!
  4. I just grew up in the West Island; never got to play organized hockey as a kid, so I hated all the kids who played! Lol! Now my kids both play… which I don’t hate them for. There’s other stuff that makes it easy to hate them! Lol! How did your kid’s team do? My son’s team lost a 2-1 heartbreaker in the semis. Kids were crying in the room after… it was one of the hardest hockey moments I’ve ever experienced. They don’t warn you about that when in September, you say “sure, I’ll be head coach this year!”
  5. Not “gear” per se, but finally put on new vinyl that my kids chose for me, because “after the Habs, Daddy likes the Red Wings!” Yes kids, and because Daddy likes those teams, there will be way less playoff hockey on TV this year!
  6. Yes, I’d throw the cat out too for that. True fact: cat piss on gear pretty much needs a priest to do an exorcism. Our neighbourhood’s street hockey goalie gear got pissed on by my buddy’s cat, and the smell was so bad, my mom forbid me from playing with that gear.
  7. It took a long time. So long, I wondered if it would ever even happen. But finally, last night, I got my first career shut out. And it was in a playoff game too, and in front of my wife and kids who came to cheer me on - and even made signs. I ended up with the game puck, as the ref wanted the kids to have it (but they were told by Mommy that they should give it to daddy to keep!) My wife also got a great shot of me at the end, under the scoreboard after the final whistle. I’ve had games where I know I’ve played better, and made more and better saves, but I’ll still take it! Fuck, it feels good to finally pop that cherry!
  8. That’s great stuff buddy! Looks like a ton of fun. Do you usually play a that deep - or was that to manage the saves/goals…? Lol! I’ve been mulling over doing a players-parents/siblings game with my son’s U11 team (lots of $$ due to tournaments being canceled, so we’ll be renting ice instead). I’m really on the fence about whether I go in as goalie or not. Maybe it doesn’t matter, but as Head coach I’m concerned that I need to be the referee more than a player…? Did you find that the kids enjoyed shooting against an adult goalie? If they seemed to love it, that would sway me I think. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated !
  9. Especially when the shooter is wearing white gloves!
  10. I had been meaning to ask here anyway, so I’ll put it in this thread in the hopes that a) Someone has tried these, and; B) they could be an affordable alternative. So - HAS anyone tried these…? The pricing is competitive, and there seems to be more options than the Canadian Tire/Sportcheck entry level. Note: this is not the Christian USA of yesteryear, makers of the Christian Curve; this is a Canadian company owned by the guy who now owns The Hockey News. https://christianhockey.com/collections/goalie-sticks/products/christian-helium?variant=30140445556787
  11. Came across this pic of Dryden that I had never seen before
  12. From a little while ago, but this one was from a shot that somehow evaded the inside of the pad. Its been a month since I’ve played. I’d give up getting tagged like that twice to have a chance to play. Looks like February, only 8 days or so, but it feels like next year!
  13. You forgot “hottest”
  14. @SaveByRichter35 Here is how you post properly in this thread: This beer is fucking delicious!
  15. Moscow mule? You fucking commie! Why do you hate freedom? Lol!
  16. Too fucking right, bro; I’m already trying to figure out a way to have the dog “accidentally get loose and run away” when I walk him. Two kids (no pets) was bliss… lol!
  17. So when is the due date? Cus I was in BC in November… I mean, it’s probably yours…
  18. …did you already know when you posted this about your “hypothetical kids”…? Congrats Coop! That is awesome news, and really brightens the day!
  19. No gear as such, but some nice lids and stuff from the wife and kids this year! Found out from my buddy/Dad of the goalie on my son’s team that he (the son) has the two on the left himself!
  20. Well let’s be honest here about what we have seen: a bunch of players sweating, breathing heavily, and spitting (like, all the time)… add to that all the coaches and staff half-assing the mask wearing, and fans likewise with concessions open for them to eat and drink (cus you can’t sit for 2 hours without cramming stuff into your cake hole). THEN imagine the behaviour and all the stuff we HAVEN’T seen. So yeah, here we are… this is not the COVID of 2020-21, so what worked for bubbles and such last go around just aren’t good enough now with Omicron, I guess. It does indeed suck, as @Fullright says, for the players and families for whom this was maybe their “one chance”. It also sucks because it was really a bright spot at our house, watching Team Canada as a family. Maybe they canceled because the other teams were afraid of us…?
  21. Not to get into the whole debate here, but I don’t think the league will side with goalies on eye safety if they are using non-certified cat eye grills… but that’s only 2-3 of them, right…?
  22. Amazing that you got to play at the Bell centre! Now if only we could get the actual Canadiens to play there…
  23. I’m also from Montreal! Une tête carrée de l’ouest de l’ile… la rive sud, toi? What part? Also… tough year to be a Habs fan, eh?
