Few guys are/were geeks into specs like Ben Scrivens and McElhinney at the pro level. The rest are just too busy practising and playing when not being husbands and fathers.

We bottom dwellers seem to have more time on our hands or are just a weird bunch hanging on to whatever lingering dreams and passions we have left in our small existence. :D

Exactly.  If I was a millionaire I would NOT be hanging out here talking about how stiff my leg pads need to be to play games for beer.

Would have been nice if he said something more than they are nice and simple. No mention of any specs or features he prefers. Man, hockey culture has made even a foreign player (German) boring AF.

My goalie BFF @coopaloop1234 said it best about the German Gentleman Mr. Grubauer:

"He's probably going to be one of those goalies that can't tell his ass from the ground when it comes to gear."

Custom option you can order. Hellebuyck uses it as well. Interestingly enough it comes with its own sidewall shape not available on the bindingless blockers.

Nice.  Thanks.   Seems like a spec that is just about obsolete and dead.

US stiffness is probably the sweet spot. May be tempted to get a Shadow set with a softer boot when that comes out.

I really liked the TuneFit+ system on the Machs.

    Same for me.

Also, where are all these locker room pics of Saros coming from?

Imagine going to the finals and your season opener tickets are still the cheapest in the league.

Based on nothing substantial, I would imagine that the Miami area has the highest percentage of population who could not even name the local hockey team of all the NHL markets.

  7. I really enjoy Kevin Weekes on ESPN commentary.  Obviously his goalie insider stuff is great, but his personality and style is just fun and exciting.  He's so good at his job.

  8. So after my upcoming trip to Montreal/Ottawa where I'll get my Canadiens and Maple Leafs pucks (as well as these too)

I'm down to only 5 NHL teams remaining, including New Jersey Devils.   I have tickets to Devils @ Canadiens while I am there, so I thought I had to try, right?

I emailed the Devils office and pitched my request to get a Devils puck from the team in Montreal and of course I offered to pay for it. I offered to grab it from Guest Services or Will Call or go down to the glass and get it from an equipment guy, anything.

Not surprisingly, I was told No but it was written in a very robotic, AI, corporate way.  Kinda made me laugh:

    Hello,

    Thank you for your email.

Due to the large demand for items inside the arena, we do not have the inventory to give merchandise.

We thank you for your support and have a great day!

    Sincerely,

    Guest Services

Oh well.  Cost me nothing to ask 👹

Wow, that 580 angle looks so sharp on that brown glove.  That's the closest to a resting 90 degree right angle I've seen.

    Set looks killer, congrats.

Has anyone else noticed the frequency with which most goaltenders rest on their blocker-side knee? They also seem to get up with their glove-side leg after the whistle. It seems very asymmetrical. I wonder if some of these guys will have hip issues on that blocker-side leg in the future. Hip issues seem to be more prevalent nowadays anyway and at a younger age than before. I wonder if this type of habit will exacerbate it.

    Hmm. Good question.

I wonder if it's a dominant side thing.  Most lefties kneel left, righties kneel right?

I'd always kneel right as a righty.

Interesting! I guess that's the great thing about sports, everyone can appreciate and enjoy them in their own way 👍

    Indeed my friend.

Back on topic,  here's LB with his sharp looking gray gear

A fair question! I'm from Winnipeg, which I'm guessing is enough said? If not I can elaborate, haha. Huge Jerome Iginla fan, though. Broke onto the scene and was pivotal in our Salt Lake City gold medal, and obviously played a critical role in the Golden Goal in Vancouver. You wouldn't happen to be American, now would you? 😁

Sorry, that probably still hurts a little 😀

Haha, I am American.  It's all good.  I never got hooked on good guy/bad guy us/them stuff in sports.  It just doesn't register with me.  I get yelled at every game I go to for saying "nice save!" at opposing goalies or clapping for good goals on my team.

Can't say I every really hated, or loved for that matter, a sports team in this way.

I get it though. Sports psychology is fascinating.

It might! Sorry my friend, I just can't get on board with the yellow and red. Red with blue and/or white or on its own looks good but the yellow just doesn't do it for me😁

Fair enough.  Pure curiosity in good faith: why do you hate the Flames so much? What's the story?
