  1. I poked holes and looped skate lace on the top part of the knee pads in front. I then tie that to the clamp of the belt. For the back I just use the elastic strap of the kneepad and thread the elastic through the clamp. It works well.
  2. Islandsportsrepair.com did a pair of mine back in '17. I think it was something like $35 (not including shipping) and turn-around time was super quick. Just checked and it looks like he is charging $40 now. Fixed one of the finger gussets free-of-charge and overall did a very nice job.
  3. When I was down there Wells had one league with 4 teams, they tried their best to even things out but with only 4 teams you had quite the range on each team. Good luck on Laurel, hopefully they still have decent times and openings for you. If I remember right they had 4 divisions with 6-8 teams per division way back when.
  4. Might be worth checking out the leagues a little further away if they are still going on. Its been a little over 10 years since I lived (and played) down there, but Laurel Ice Gardens, Wells and Piney Orchard all had beer league games that I played in around the 7PM time slots during the week, and the weekend you typically got mid to late afternoon times. And we were able to get those times year round, even when the youth hockey was in full swing.
  5. Where are you trying to play? For some reason Maryland is popping into my head? Where in Maryland?
  6. Guilty as well. The spins are always fun, and even better when you can do them at the same speed the entire game.
  7. Did just the knee flap on my gt2's with the vivid. Left a little extra and tucked it under the seam of the binding. Slid great the entire game. Like others I had issues with over-sliding so that will take some adjustments. I usually only get 1 skate a week so it will be a while before I can comment on my durability experience. Not planning on doing the calf wings although I am curious how much of an effect it would have.
  8. Kydex seems like it may be an option as well for plates. Theoretically should form up pretty easy.
  9. The electric bill is pretty typical. Usually they will have a separate meter to track how much the panels produce (net-metering and such). Yeah you would definitely not want to put a roof mount system on without redoing the roof first.
  10. The bigger companies that can offer the financing options make it pretty attractive (essentially paying them instead of paying the electric company). Only part that sucks is if they do a roof mount and you need your roof replaced... and because you said engineer:
  11. I'd say keep your CCM's. You're probably not going to get anything worthwhile (maybe $10-20 at most? I'm guessing) for those CCM's at PIAS. If you are just coaching and sometimes screwing around and not actually playing out multiple times a week you would be fine with the bauers if you want new skates. CJ is right, they are on the lower end and wouldn't last as long as the higher grade ones, but you aren't going to be working them hard. If you want new skates, get new skates.
  12. Seconded (or thirded)....you don't have to have a kid in the program to coach. In my kids program alot of the coaches were/are the dads because their isn't anybody else. Regarding the practice rinks, the GM's/directors will be making your C/D+ options assuming they are coming in with the experience. The supporting roles (minions) will be your A/B at best. (Can't hurt to ask/apply anyways and find out)
  13. It looks like there is some tape light inside that perimeter of the logo.
  14. Did you hear about the fire at the circus? It was in-tents.

    2021 Playoffs

All statements valid and justifiable, even for minors.

    2021 Playoffs

Need clarification, your family says "Fuck Tampa", "All my homies hate Tampa" or "Homies help homies"?
  17. Some rinks in VT are open again for adults. They got shut down in November due to a bunch of cases getting linked to a mens league at one particular rink in central VT. Kids and high school kept at least being able to practice for the most part during the winter.

Glad to hear it sounds like it will be working out. Will he end up playing his "old team"?

Another thing to note, how is his patience with the puck? Does he throw it off when he gets pressured? Learning to hold on to the puck a little longer under pressure will help making that jump and hopefully stand out in bantam. He will have a better chance on working on his patience, controlling the play at that lower level.

Don't know if you are still having that conversation with the missus, but if you pull him and he doesn't play this year, he would be that much further behind for the bantam year. Echoing the other comments (from experience as well), playing at that lower level can help him to develop.
  22. Another option if those don't work would be using a dremel cut-off disk and slicing the bolt...assuming you don't care about reusing the bolt/nut.
  23. Here are some more little ones playing on a lake this year. Oldest one has played goalie for a few years and wants to play out now. Younger one wants to play goalie as he is moving up to Novice next season (I have been slowly acquiring items on the cheap for him for times like this). In mahgs I have to constantly remind him that he needs to be skating and not standing just in front of the net. This was his first time being completely suited up on the ice in his gear. Usually it is just him messing around in the house with his pads and gloves. Littler one's first time on the ice with skates. She had more fun running on the ice that was covered with snow than skating.
  24. 9" from tab to tab or 9" from the midpoint?
