  1. To @coopaloop1234 's point, it's probably just an extension of the decision to not let you mix and match any colour combos you want.  One less thing to have to switch over on the production line.  It sucks, but when you've had huge issues delivering other aspects of the gear, you take the gains you can get.

It used to be an option on the 1S customizer.  Not sure if you ordered from somewhere with real good relationships with reps if you could push for it still.  They don't have any local shops building pro orders anymore right?  I could see it being a no go if they just didn't have white materials off-shore, but somebody has it somewhere.

It’s likely they want to keep it a secret or they don’t have any demo sets yet or someone’s out there but we don’t know who. I’m indifferent in this subject and respect whatever reason they’re doing it but it would be nice to see if they’ve come up with new sliding technology

I'm not suggesting any nefarious intentions or anything. Just pointing out a pattern that we generally see things in our very own "sitings" thread well before any marketing. The only thing I can think of for the SLR 2's is that Jimmy Howard has a white sliding surface on his red based SLRs

How would you even know who’s demoing it or not?

Someone always seems to get pics of somebody wearing them on ice, in practice or whatever. Spy pics pointing out new straps, different pad face etc. Well ahead of any marketing starting up

  4. So how come we see pros using blank EF4's, GnetikIV's, reskinned 2S/2X, well before any marketing. But Vaughn drops the SLR 2 on instagram and we haven't seen a single person in a demo set yet?

    4.25 months for gloves.

    Wow.

Back in Nov/Dec last year, I was quoted 16 weeks for STOCK SLR PANTS, because I couldn't find the right size in the model I wanted.  I had just stitched my 1S pants back together and was fine with living with them until they fell apart so went ahead with it.  Luckily they found a pair behind a water cooler in the warehouse or something and they came in 2 weeks later.

Has me a little gun-shy on trying to get another pair with a bit of beef added to them though.

  6. Hey all, apparently I haven't posted in here yet.

I've been playing goal full time for about 20 years.  Started when I was 10 when the goalie on our house league team sometimes wouldn't show up to games because her asshole parents were going through a rough divorce and just wouldn't take her to games.  She had her own equipment, so I got the league supplied stuff and would dress half-way and wait to see if she was coming or not.  Started full time the next year, the team gear that year had deer hair filled pads, and a trapper that was full brown leather with the cuff that went half way up your arm.  Parents decided it was time for my own gear.

Played varsity my senior year of HS, on a team that folded half-way through the season because we owed the local parks and rec a few thousand dollars and they froze our account so we couldn't get a bus to away games.  That was my one taste of select hockey, Intramural and Beer League since then.

Only recently got into the modding and finer details of gear.  I've been in Brian's, Vaughn, Brown, Bauer, Eddy, Itech, Koho

Currently on the shelf for a couple of weeks after busting up my ankle in slo-pitch softball playoffs, but back to my men's league A division team after that, avoiding the only potential winter without a team since I started playing hockey as a kid.

    Happy to be here!

See- I took a bomb off tge ball of my foot and it felt like I broke my foot!

They will get these right one day, I hope! Not really a fan of cowlings; they are just very practical right now.

You still making these saves? :)

I think they've optimized the toe for puck impacts, not the inside of the boot

Or actual straps which does the same thing but is less pre-school  ;)

I'm on V4's right now, but I guess by the time I get to V8's I'll probably be around 80 and maybe those magnetic clips will come in handy if I'm too old and senile to do my actual straps :)

One day you'll be wheeling your tower bag into the rink to strap on your magnet pads and think "I really should have been doing this all along" :P

Why two sets of gloves? Cuz they wear faster than leg pads and CAs?

For a university team, could be a game set and a practice set (don't usually see a practice blocker), or one set for 1st and 3rd period, one for 2nd period.

Or maybe the dude just abuses his gloves haha

I've got a guy on one of my teams that has a players version of the backpack. The thing is super awkward and unwieldy. Just doesn't look comfortable anyways.

Best option to save the back is for a wheelie bag.

I will admit that it looks pretty ridiculous picking up the backpack bag and getting it on, especially when you're trying to not put the stress of the entire weight of the bag on just the shoulder strap.  Picture picking up the bag with one hand by the end handle, lifting it up high enough to get your arm through a shoulder strap, then pulling that first arm up and over your head to get the bag on your back.

It's honestly very comfortable when it's on, just don't stand around talking to the guys after the game with it on.  Shoulders get fatigued more than anything if I have a long post-game walk to the car.

I also only use it because I need to bring my bag through the house, up/down a fairly narrow basement staircase, which is way easier with the backpack (even a normal shoulder bag would be kind of unwieldy for that).  If I didn't have that restriction, I'd still be using my Grit tower bag.

  11. At pickup today, guy sitting next to me looks at my 2S pads and says "wow those look thin." I'm like yeah, expecting something like "it's crazy these materials they use nowadays" but he follows it up with "I guess you really need those knee pads with how thin they are..."

Hey, different strokes. I love me some puck marks.

The other goalie at my morning skate today asked me what I use to clean my pads. Thought he was talking about disinfectant and said nothing, then he told me about how hard it is to clean the white weave on his set of Brian's. I'm like "oh, these are only 4 skates old, that's why they're still kinda clean"

Do the custom to 2s... for yourself and for me. Always been a fan of Purple and Gold combo... never got a chance to play on a team that it would have tied into.

If I get full time status with the guys I played with last winter then there's a strong possibility of that happening

Do we think it's the mask or the jersey that needs a color tweak to the match the new set?:baller::rofl:

    1. Away jersey to not be sooooo white

    2. New mask with paint job for the new setup

    3. Custom 2S graphic with Purple/Gold to match the old mask :P

Maybe I can brand myself as the Bauer equivalent of moto67e

  15. @Snowman30 Nice pickup.  I'm curious about the pocket on the glove.  I feel like I always see pro gloves with the pocket mashed back towards the hand and the tip flattened out.  Is that just how they break in when they face as many pucks as they do, or is that a pro spec for the pocket T?

  16. A few shots from pickup last week.  Even I have to admit that the white jersey is a little much with the white based pads, gonna have to get a blue one.  Not pictured, epic glove save on a one timer from the slot.  GF was adjusting the lens.  But did manage to get a frame by frame of a guy popping my water bottle on a 2 on 0 pass.

Anyone know how to fix this? Or at least seal it? Had a guy run into me while on a breakaway.

I've heard "auto goop and patience" was the best repair method, but that's as much detail as I got. I'd trust the method from the guy it came from though.

Hey guys, I did a search but couldn't really find anything

I have those Shamwow sweatbands, I've had them forever.

I find them too thick, any recommendations for thinner ones? I know Monster has a nice one, but I am looking at Canadian first due to the exchange etc.

+1 to @Punisher Goalie for the 37.5 sweatbands, I got mine from: https://cyclonetaylor.com/goalie/accessories/mask-accessories/bauer-rp-profile-xpm-37-5-sweatband.html

It seemed like most other online shops were shipping from the US and charged twice as much for shipping than the sweatbands cost.  Emailed the guys at Cyclone Taylor and they Purolatored them across the country so quickly that I got them the same day they gave me my shipping confirmation :)
