  1. Took a puck off the inside of my knee. Bruise is still forming. Hurts like hell. Got hit while working in my front yard. My kid was shooting pucks in the street and one whistled up into the yard and kicked off the lawn directly into my knee.
  2. Same here. Makes me look busy too hearing me type in my office.

They are a classic glove. I hear you with the pain when using them. But these were from the times when gloves had to be broken in. Today all gloves are pretty much game ready. Those look almost new. The SC Pro were top of the line. Lots of leather and made in Canada. Gems. Hanging them like that looks killer too. Hopefully your dad improves. Getting old sucks.
  4. Love it. Thanks. The team I'm playing on - I'm the oldest cat by 10 years. What the f happened? Tell us about the old days goalie.
  5. I'm now 46. I used a composite True Catalyst goalie stick last night. It was amazing.
  6. I don't know. I watch a lot of highlights from mid-2000s hockey. There were some absolute wars. Even garbage games during the season are fun to watch.
  7. I thought he was in an i8 with Sportmask. The Pro's Choice round holes by the ear make sense now. Sportmask ones are ovals.
  8. Better shot of his updated mask. Re-spray or backup mask quickly made up? The foam looks fresh as new inside the shell. What mask is that? Looks like a Sportmask to me.
  9. Funny watching pre-lockout hockey and the hooking everywhere was the norm. It looks like wrestling vs today's game.
  10. Love the 'I just got traded' look. There's a thread for that too... Next game - got the mask worked on and added some gold pad skinz..
  11. I never even bothered to get into social media. This is about it for me. Unfortunately my wife is all over it.
  12. I'm thinking that too. You have stadiums that sell things to people while at the games. Shorter games means less time for them to buy crap. TV networks paid a lot for MLB. Sports is worth more now than ever because it's really the only thing people watch live and have to sit through the commercials. You just snipped 30 minutes from that time that they are paying for. I'm sure they worked out numbers that counter the lost time. Like more people will watch now because it's shorter, so you're getting more eyes and asses than before.
  13. Check yourself before you (possibly) wreck yourself. Hebert played for the St. Louis Blues for two seasons before being selected by the Ducks in the expansion draft. There are stories about this gear and the color that it was made in. Remember too, it was an expansion team using new colors and in a time when colored gear wasn't that old yet.
  14. I can decipher the CCM pro stick codes. My son uses pro model sticks and I've learned to read the code like the Matrix. Bauer at least puts it on the stick. CCM uses a sticker. This is CCM Trigger 3 with a Trigger 4 wrap. It's his version 2 also. Here's some what you can pick from too - shaft shape:

    Thank You Brown 2000 Jock

Would stop people from slipping some cash out of it while I'm not looking. WTF is that? a used cup? ugh!
  16. Dear God, Sorry for all the jokes about Hellen Keller, short people, Dallas Cowboys fans and for saying bad words. Love, MTH
  17. MLB enforcing the 'pitch clock' this weekend finally. Games are expected to be 20-30 mins shorter now. We'll see. Change is good. Hoping that they don't just add 30 minutes of commercials now.
  18. Insanity = Islanders fandom Nassau County stadium is terrible... can't wait to we move back to the Nassau County Veterans Memorial Stadium! The uniforms are so old and outdated. We need a new look! Ok how about this? These are terrible! What's wrong with the old logo?! These are still terrible! Wish they'd wear their original style jerseys! The Islanders are royal blue not navy! Hey, these are the same as they wore in the 90s...Insanity!
  19. First - good post as a whole. I just had a thought similar to this part. The advertising is growing non stop. The owners will say that they need the additional revenue stream to play the players. Players salaries are growing on pace with the league's income. It's the chicken or the egg. I wonder: If the NHL cut salaries. Would players leave? It feels like the NHL is competing with itself for paying the most. I realize the 'league' is the collective group of owners. So the league pushing teams to not make as much money will never ever be done. Could you imagine if they did? If the league stopped the over advertising and returned to a clean ice sheet and static ads on the walls and no ads on the uniforms (and helmets) could they still survive? Non fans will say they don't watch because they can't follow the puck. I fail to see how moving wall ads and graphics on the ice are helping. Would more people try watching if they stopped all the distractions? Do all these additional ads even work? The fans that the NHL has knows all the ads already. The NHL has the same companies all the time. I wonder if fewer ads would get more attention? Can you watch the games with an ad blocker type software yet? If the NHL maxes out revenue ways and still can't keep up with salaries - will the league crash again? Could the profit for the owners could be the same if the league receded some with lower salaries and reduced advertising. The 'more in more out' model is in place now. Could 'less in less out' work? I feel as a fan the less is more line would be great. Nascar reduced the number of racers at their top tier (cup series) races from 43 to 38. I wish the NHL would drop a few teams. No chance they'd do this on purpose. I kinda hope for dark days for the NHL to make them backtrack a little for the better of the league.

    Thank You Brown 2000 Jock

My trash was picked up today. So my John Brown 2000 Jock has been collected by the Township trash hauler. A real undignified way for that work of art to leave my property.

    Thank You Brown 2000 Jock

I have some gear that could be properly reviewed like the Passmore blocker. Tough to replicate that one...
  22. I have been using this John Brown 2000 jock since around the year 2001. I just retired it this past week. I wanted to write a proper memoriam to this fine piece of gear: The year was 2001, the WTC were recently attacked and I was living just outside NYC in Bergen County. I had just started playing ice hockey as I just started working a real job and got a real paycheck. I was playing in a weekly pickup game in a figure skating studio rink with a bunch of businessmen. They'd give me gift cards every 10 week session for being their regular goalie. The games were crappy and the guys playing were just old guys wanting to play. This was my first purchase. I don't recall the hockey shop that they gave me gift certificates to (not cards then). It was a mom and pop shop in a downtown. Vintage gear mixed with new. I wish I could recall the name of the place. I'm sure it's gone today. This was my first piece of gear from a brand that I saw so many NHL goalies wear. A name that was used by guys like Fuhr and Hextall. I took many shot to this on the ice and on the roller floor. It did it's job so well that I was able to create the two greatest things I ever made, my kids. The John Brown 2000 Jock not only prevented my injuries, but it saved many lives. My kids will go onto great things. Have families of their own. Create my grandkids. Who knows, someone down the line from me may be the President or a doctor that saves more lives. All of this wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the John Brown 2000 Jock. My family, and the future of this world, thanks you for your craftsmanship and your fine gear. RIP old friend.
  23. I hear you. I joke that I'm like a train. Once I get moving, it's not stopping and going the other way. Poke checks are the equalizer for old goalies. Being aggressive instead of trying to react helps too. F it, I'm not staying with dekes anyway. Years ago in an over 40 league I was playing in - they made a new rule that all penalties would be penalty shots. I quit that year.

Nice. I retired all of mine. Someone will take that off your hands for sure. I went to a Sportmask Mage years ago and never looked back.
