Thanks. I know. The hard part is that I'd rather put the $5k to my kid's truck he wants.

Heavy post here: My wife of 19 years is divorcing me. We're 46. Started dating when we were 16. 2 kids, house, dogs, carnival fish, etc. I knew something was up in January. She really tuned me out when we were together. Seemed way distant. Late February she told me she wanted a divorce and didn't love me anymore. I got a letter from her lawyer earlier this month saying we were going to have an 'amicable divorce settlement'. Her lawyer said she'd send something to me. Been sleeping in separate rooms. Until this weekend, for the most part, we were respectful of each other. Unfortunately she was mad I told a mutual friend what was occurring and recently shut me off. She went to a work event this past Saturday night and stayed at a hotel. She's in the Coast Guard and it was the CG annual ball. It was about 2 hours away. I knew she was going with 'friends' and all, but she never told me where she was staying and all. Sunday she came home and pretty much didn't say anything. It's beyond brutal. Her reasons for leaving were pretty petty. She always tells people she's a 'lone wolf' and all. She told me I didn't appreciate her enough and rattled off small things from the past 20 years that were her reason to not love me anymore. Things like one time she called me around 7 years ago and I put her call to voicemail (I was running a meeting). Yeah, one time. Obviously she's got something going on. I'm not sure that I want to even know. I assume the worst and hope for the best - but my money is on worst. Should I hire a lawyer? Just walking in the door I'm out $5k. I was figuring I'd see what she's proposing and go from there. If it's workable between me and her, I'd just have her lawyer handle it. If not, I'd hire. This sucks.
  3. I finished my first season back playing second in the league with sv%. The dude ahead of me is 20. I'm 26 years older than him. Drop off the first few games where I was rusty as heck... I'm hanging with these punk snot nosed kids!
  4. Funny that the Koho chest protector (570?) design is still rocking with CCM the NHL. If it ain't broke...

    2022 - 2023 Cup

The Finals don't start until early June. I'll tune in to the playoffs around Memorial Day.
  6. You neglected the leather straps too.
  7. You should consider going double blocker.
  8. I'll say it forever. Soul Plane is one of the funniest movies ever. The low class section of the plane was spot on. Ads like a subway, lockers with locks, mis matched seats, tvs with antennas. Awesome
  9. I only fly ConAir Frontier. Frontier charges extra to lock up the criminals.
  10. My now wife and I took a Grayhound from Philly to Toronto and back again. Worst ride ever. Or - the best. So many stories on that trip from all the weird-os that were on it. (myself included)
  11. I've been playing pickleball for the past few months. at 46 - I'm a youngin'
  12. 'Robocop' weave jenpro. Why? Even worse, I picked silver.
  13. Hopefully that just it. Meniscus damage isn't a major injury thankfully. When I tore mine, they just cortisone injected it and told me to walk it off.
  14. It was nice knowing you. RIP Hope it's just a sprain. Update?

I sold my son's gear after it collected dust for a few years. It is better to not have it there reminding you that they used to play - personally. It's weird that the last time they used it, it was just another day playing and they put it away. No proper send off. I unearthed a ton of plastic army men in my yard recently. My now 16 year old kid would always play with them. It made me sad to think that he was playing one day as usual and left them there. A day quickly turned into years. The Toy Story movies really captured that feeling of when kids stop playing with things.
  16. My local rink has a Bauer shop. Stupid part is that they had to make a second store in the rink to sell the youth hockey team gear as they were not part of the Bauer store concept.
  17. I did the one where they went from one to the next Was a workout for sure but I wasn't in a tough class. The eagle ones were tough as I don't bend like that well (yet).
  18. I think so. 39 ain't easy. Honestly from late 30s through 46 for me kinda feels the same. Shower injuries earn you points on your application too. I dealt with a should injury from sleeping for too long. Right in the middle of old man baseball season too. So I pretended it was from that so I still looked like a real man.
  19. Those thin sections look like they will not sustain impacts too well. I'm sure they tested them and they are deemed 'stronger than previous models'. But previous models broke too. As a parent, I'd be cautious to buy my kid those as the Hyperlite skates are over a grand and the warranty policy for Bauer is a lot of work to make use of.
  20. I took my first yoga class last night. Was hard at times but tons of hip flex positions that will help me. I'm hooked.
  21. Funny. Me too if I was a kid still. My kids know I'm cool. So they apologize and asked if I wanted them to stop shooting. No way. Keep ripping! There are a few dozen pucks buried in the mulch around the house in the shrubs and all. Years from now when a new owner lives in my house, they'll ponder why there are so many ice hockey pucks in the landscaping.
  22. My one son swears by the BioFreeze crap. He's all of 16. What does he know about being sore and hurt. Then again, kids play every day and full contact. I don't know how they do it.
  23. These are the pads before they were bolted to a wood box: The blocker looks like rookie year of Hart too (the gear gloves didn't have any names on them):
  24. I play at the Flyers Training Center. Spotted their shooter tutor with some pro level gear.
