  1. Three of my recent pickups in one pic lol. True one piece skates, Next gen Monster Pro Toe bridge (RYNO), and the Sparx! @Bgums13 @bunnyman666 IMO the one pieces are a dream come true. Perfect fit, of course, but for me the perfect balance of height, pitch, and attack angle. I’ve been taking some notes with the thought of writing a full review at some point. The zero energy loss thing is legit. They are like Ferraris for your feets. My only complaint so far is that the holes in the holder area limit your options for toe ties alternatives. If you tie with traditional laces of course you are fine. Original HALs don’t fit through the toe hole, stock ProLaces are too short to reach the middle hole and still fasten correctly (and my skates are prob the equivalent of size 7s), Brian’s smart strap you have to mash through. Looks like HAL TLGs (the smaller ones) would fit. Anyway, I solved that with the new version of the RYNO. Excellent product now that its made from Jenpro or weave with higher quality stitching and jenpro attachments for the laces. Super happy with these and of course it takes 2 seconds to attach to the leg pads. The Sparx just rules. There are tons of reviews online and they are all consistent. Its laughably easy to set up and sharpen. With the Trues or any cowlingless goalie skate you don’t even need to goalie adapters (although they are included with the machine). I did one sharpening at 1” and it was flawless. 99 more to go and this thing pays for itself!
  2. @Aquilzz glad to hear you like it. I posted my floating anchor T mod that I did to my 1S glove with skate lace. I found that the feel of the puck hitting the pocket was much softer (even having had skate lace previously) but I still got a decent “snap” sound because the puck was hitting the wide T on the 1S. @Droner I have the 1S described above with the floating anchor T and my Optik double T. The Optik pocket is so big that the only major difference I’ve noticed is that with the floating T, I have a harder time dropping the puck out of the pocket. So I’ve found that I can’t reliably release the puck to play it quickly after a catch. If I have to shake the glove to get it out, I’m worried about where its going to go. With my Optik, I just open the glove and it drops straight down.
  3. Did you match the sticks to the socks or vice versa?
  4. Thanks for posting this. Wow, that made my decision easy. I really don't like the look of the black graphic. Strange that there doesn't seem to be any equivalent to the lighter grey and white scheme on the 1S for the 2S Pro. Gold it is...
  5. Anyone have a photo or link showing what the colors look like?
  6. Agreed. This is the kind of thing that should be encouraged (especially by goalies!) not discouraged. Its like a concept car! This guy has a lot of very interesting ideas and one day this sort of creativity is going to lead to a more protective, better performing mask. The look or concept may not appeal to everyone now but didn't people say the same thing about flat-faced pads? Composite sticks? Cowlingless skates?? Come on now!
  7. @Doobiesnax your set up looks amazing. My team is the same colors and same jerseys (different logo). Bet you got a ton of compliments.
  8. @Tim_TRUEHockey or anyone else, can someone please confirm the diameter of the toe strap hole (and the other holes in the holder, for that matter) on the one piece skate? Trying to figure out if standard size Pro Laces and/or HALs will fit through. Thanks!
  9. Did your shop have the 2S or the 2S Pro (with the spine)?
  10. Yeah, but if I know there is a lighter stick out there...
  11. Me. 2S Pro. When it comes to sticks I’m a sucker for lightweight. I have a 1S and love the light weight. My CR1 is awesome too but heavier. I’m also always interesting in trying new stuff so it’ll be a launch day purchase for me.
  12. Check out Sportmask. They are great masks and some might be in your price range.
  13. Yeah I actually own one. It was the first one I bought when I started playing in net last year. It fit me really well and it’s very light, but (and this is the part I didn’t find out about until I got educated on goalie gear on sites like this) it’s made of plastic/polycarbonate, which is really not that protective. Might be ok for really low level hockey or ball hockey but I believe it’s in the category of masks known as “widowmakers”. If you are anywhere above absolutely beginner level hockey I’d suggest trying to spend more to get a more protective mask.
  14. No that does not look like a good price. If you just google “CCM 7000 mask” you’ll see a bunch of retailers and eBay sellers selling it new for less.
  15. Yeah I thought about this too but on balance I really feel like the aggressive forward pitch hurts my lateral skating (t pushes mainly). It’s also a function of the overall height. Either way, I realize I’m taking a big, only somewhat educated, gamble on these but at least with pitch I figure I can change that a little bit with the blade profile if really necessary.
  16. IDK about the two piece, but now that I’ve handled the one piece in person, I suspect that they really can’t make it any lighter. The main feature of the one piece is the rock solid connection (ie, no connection at all - just one unit) between the “boot” and the “holder”, which they achieve with layers of carbon/composite. I’m not exaggerating when I say you can feel in your hands the difference between the stiffness of the boot/holder connection on the one piece vs any other boot/holder or boot/cowling combo. This, combined with the custom fit, is where the “zero” energy loss idea comes from. Of course I don’t have mine yet so I can’t personally attest to it but that’s the idea at least! So anyway, I have a hard time seeing how they can achieve that level of strength with lighter construction or materials, but who knows. Carbon nanotubes maybe??
  17. I’ve taken it off any mask I’ve used. Btw you don’t have to cut it off - it should be attached using the hardware for the elastic snaps. Just undo that, remove the chin strap, then resecure.
  18. Did my 3D fitting and placed my order for the one piece skates yesterday. Was quoted 2.5 weeks which is perfect, right between winter and spring seasons. I realize it’s not for everyone but I was really impressed with the one piece seeing it in person. The pitch difference between the one and two piece is really dramatic. This is what I’m looking forward to the most. I am still a bit worried about the lower attack angle but seeing the two models next to each other, due to the pitch the height difference is really only dramatic at the heel, the one piece is really not that much shorter at the toe, where I think a lot of the action is happening executing pushes. Either way I can’t wait to get them and get out on the ice to try them out. Will surely report back when I do.
  19. My attempt at a skate lace floating T on a 1S glove. I did normal lacing then just kind of guessed as how to close up the floating area at the bottom of the T. Seems like it will work! And I’m aware it would probably look and work better if the T is clipped short but not ready to take that step yet.
  20. Ok thanks to all those who responded - in my own defense, those photos made it seem like the paddle is flat!
  21. Does anyone have reliable information as to how often this has actually happened to the one-piece skates? Has there been any improvement in this issue since they’ve been in production for some time?
  22. Ditto this comparison pic posted by Trav (1S left, 2S Pro right):
  23. I’m really confused. This pic from GGN’s IG makes it look like the 2S Pro stick does not have the twisty part on the upper paddle that the 1S has. This is what I’m hoping for but keep getting conflicting info. Does anyone know for sure?
  24. @thebigm thanks - seems like the zero energy loss thing isn’t really for everyone but it’s really appealing to me. When I first got my One80 cowlings with the stick steel I loved the skating with the lower height but hated that I lost the attack angle. Thinking the one piece might be a really good middle ground while still keeping the excellent True fit in the boot.
  25. Anyone here have a recently-made pair of the one-piece goalie skates? All the reviews I can find on them are somewhat old and pre-date the True take-over. Just wanting to hear more feedback on them and if there have been any significant changes since the initial release. I am very much enjoying my two-piece boots with One80 cowlings, but looking to try something new during the spring/summer. I’m really attracted to the one-piece thinking that the flatter, lower, setup would be good along with the cowlingless attack angle and the concept of the low energy loss. Any feedback would be great.
