  1. I'm not a Lefevre-expert but I think the two laces on the thumb was a giveaway that the glove is a 590. Below, a Lefevre-built EF4 for John Gibson.
  2. Don't know about the insole, but both the boot itself and the internal liner are heat moldable. IIRC, it's like 7 minutes for the boot and 4 minutes for the liner.
  3. 25% off all clearance items at Goalie Monkey until Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Use promo code "4THJULY25". YMMV, as at least one item didn't seem to work with that coupon code (Bauer NME VTX Certified, Fit 1, SR). Some highlights I saw: Vaughn SLR2 Pro Carbon SR leg pads at $1,124.98 after coupon code, before any sales tax and shipping. Vaughn Pro V-Elite Pro Carbon SR leg pads at $1,198.98 after coupon code, before any sales tax and shipping. Both seem to be available in 33 and 34, maybe 35. Full right CCM EF4 Pro SR blockers at $188.98 after coupon code, before any sales tax and shipping. Bunch of Warrior sticks available too: Warrior V1 Pro+ at $176.23 after coupon code, before any sales tax and shipping. Warrior M1 Pro (not Pro+) at $134.98 after coupon code, before any sales tax and shipping. ------------------------------------ Similar sale at PureGoalie.com - 20% off Clearance Items Use promo code "4JULYUSA20". Selection seems to be WAY less. Have fun browsing and good hunting!
  4. From what I've been told, 3mm of Poron in the palm is just 3mm of Poron in the palm - basically where your finger joints are. Pro palm is Poron in the palm plus Poron in the base of your palm - basically the meaty part of your hand below the thumb. Not sure on the thickness of the Poron for the Pro palm, though.
  5. I saw this thread and thought you got one... Are they in stores yet? I didn't see them at mine. I know some stores will break street date but the CCM launch calendar I have has a mid-August release date, so they might be a ways away. Price-wise, the EF4 and EF5 were a little bit less than the top-end sticks from Warrior and Bauer. The upcoming Prolite is going to be priced similar to the competition's top-end.
  6. Skated in the Machs with 3M tape on the knee and calf landing. Was getting more slide than my Ultrasonics on fresh ice. IMO, this points to the skin being the difference for sliding.
  7. I have a real bad habit going out there and then putting it in the gut of an opposing player. I try to stay home now. @Dan_32What size are you? I loaned my size SR Small Ultrasonics to some other board members for them to try. If you're willing to foot the shipping bill (and maybe pay a deposit), I could send them to you, too.
  8. IMPOSSIBLE. I cannot have any less. If I were a betting man, I'd bet it's easier to whack a puck out of the zone versus corralling a moving puck and putting it into a 6x4 space. It's all about playing the percentages, after all - right?
  9. Nice sets. When do you skate with the Mach? Do you notice any difference (to the touch) with the US calf and Mach calf? I've applied some 3M film to my Mach and I'll see how they slide tonight...
  10. My two cents: I think a Bauer pad can be pretty devastating to the other team, especially at a low level. It'll kick out rebounds a little bit more than other brands, so at low levels where the opposing team might not be in the best position to pick up a rebound or not have their sticks down on the ice, a big rebound can help your defense get it out of your zone - or at least, immediate danger. At these low levels, getting into the offensive zone can be an issue so anything you can do to get it out makes it that much more difficult for the other team to enter the zone and get a shot on net.
  11. Some Axis markdowns at PureGoalie, amongst other things. Axis gear is 20% off. Some Warrior M1 and True sticks here, too. Older Bauer 2X and 2S skates + CCM Jetspeed goalie skates. Not aware of any coupon codes available or whether it would stack. Good hunting!
  12. I'm the kind of equipment whore who puts a widget on his phone to track the number of days since I ordered my gear. Right now I've got a 12 day head start on you!
  13. Did it take a year to get the arms figured out?
  14. The Man Himself hard at work on a True C/A? https://www.instagram.com/p/CfEw_UNu-f0/?hl=en
  15. I've consulted the Hockey Gods and They have told me that you are to be the one who shows us the Way. The buddy of mine that borrowed my Machs is now thinking of doing the exact same thing. There's a thread on here where people are using some 3M tape on the inside edge of their pads - I'm thinking of giving that a try. I skate tomorrow and Thursday. Hope to have it applied by Thursday so I can report back.
  16. Could buy 'em from Pure Goalie and return them. https://goalie.purehockey.com/support/Returns_and_Warranties/pg_id/11 You can return used items and there is no exception for goalie gear. YMMV since I've never done it before myself!
  17. EDIT: 07/13/2022 - SOLD THANKS FOR LOOKING! Hello! For sale are my custom Vaughn SLR3 Pro Carbon pants. Looking for $350 $300 USD, shipped CONUS from sunny California. Canadian friends, talk to me and we can figure something out. Used less than 8 times. I lost a little over 20 pounds in the time between ordering these and when they arrived and they don't fit (too big). Size Large in the waist, with a Medium size inseam/thigh. Had Vaughn build these with the bottom side-groin pad/flap slightly shorter than stock - see retail pant pictures for difference. Had Vaughn put the suspenders on leather tabs instead of the nylon loops - see retail pant pictures for difference. Red "college-style" logos with a 1-inch red stripe on the sides. No size label inside the pant because I am vain and wanted the pro-style look. Personalized with my nickname. Made in Canada I'm coming from a pro stock CCM HPG11K Fit 3. These seem to fit bigger. The CCMs definitely feel beefier than these, though. I didn't request any additional beef on these pants. These are in great shape! PM with questions or additional picture requests.
  18. I went and took some pics just now. The pad with the white calf is the Ultrasonic. The material on the US calf landing definitely seems different - feels more plasticky - a lot like the retail Mach's calf landing. The white calf feels a bit slicker to the touch compared to the black knee. Al the literature I'm seeing seems to say that both the knee and calf are CORTechST, though. Meanwhile the red knee landing and red calf on the Mach feel like the same material. Bbased on your friend's thoughts - I suspect that is the reason behind the sliding difference. Shape of the calf and construction seems to be pretty much the same. The ankle protection at the bottom is slightly different. The picture makes it look like the Mach's calf plate is attached slightly differently, but they look and feel the same. Ultrasonic has a removable (velcroed) gray calf pillow. Mach is stitched in, and bigger. 100% intentional That's awesome - you should be getting them in a couple weeks!
  19. Thing is is that the calf seems super similar to the Ultrasonics, which slide like a greased up fat guy at a water park. I'll take a deeper look today to see what's different, but if the calf is largely the same, it must be the skin that's causing this? But that said, I haven't spoken to anyone who has the off the shelf pad... How many weeks along are you?
  20. I have six or seven skates in the Mach. Switched back to the Ultrasonic for a game on Saturday and oh my goodness.... the sliding was so much better with the Ultrasonic. I felt so much more mobile with the US versus the Mach, likely because of the pad's stiffness, profile and lack of calf bracket. For whatever reason, I feel more planted and stuck on the ice with the Machs - I wonder if it is the heavier weight/stifness of the plastic that makes up the Mach bracket. Loaned the Machs to a buddy who is also currently in Ultrasonics - he also noticed that the Mach does not slide as well as the US. Since I have my Ultrasonics back, I will try to put some comparison pictures up in the original post.
  21. New Brick Wall Specials at Monkey. Good until 6/21. Mostly Warrior GT2 gear plus some M1 and V1 sticks. Stick prices are pretty good - about 40% off original MSRP. Gear prices are a little meh - about 25% off MSRP. Good hunting!
  22. Right, but if you post there, a million more people will see it. Those are unique pads and someone might recognize seeing them as they scroll past.
  23. It's the two leather things there that form a small loop inside the glove. I wouldn't say it's a stall, per say as it isn't stitched down into the backhand of the glove. If I understand correctly, it's more of an option to get the 591 to feel a little more traditional as the stock 591 doesn't have the loop.
