Buying online is killing brick and mortar stores.

I live in a "city" of only 250,000... and its the capital of our Province... We just don't have the demand to have a PHL or a really big dedicated goalie retailer... most of us locally don't shop locally as I have more knowledge than the guys in the stores... All they push is "who's your favorite NHL goalie" and then tell them to buy that gear... no clue on how different lines play, etc...

When I stopped at the New Jersey Monkey store they didn't have any Optik pads either, only 2 pairs of gloves and blockers.  They said they sold all of their Optik pads the first week they debuted in November.  I was there end of Dec beginning of Jan.  I said so you guys sold out a new line of gear in a week and you didn't order more in almost 2 months?  He just shrugged his shoulders.

I think it will be that way here too... the local Source for sports had 1 set of heritage, Gnetik 3 and Sub3... Couple of Eflex 3, 1 Premier and 1 RGT set... and part of a 1X... that's all... its sad... Hence why I'm going thru @TGC-Rance for my new set

Hopefully this site takes off (more than it already has!) and we start getting demo gear from vendors to try!

I got lucky that I'm a member of another already well-established site, which is where I got my demo from.

Lucky guy. I went for a tour of my LHS's today. NOT A SINGLE ONE is carrying anything Optik. I really want to get my hands on them to see what all the hype is about

Ok well, even though i was warned not to I ordered some knee blocks to complete my Reactor overhaul.  After 2 months, I have finally pulled the plug.  Last week i was informed that my knee blocks would be shipped out that week and I would get a message to that end....   No message came.  Today I inquired into whether they had an update and I was told that they would be ready and happy to ship the blocks as soon as they revieved my payment (ordered through a rep) and..... get this..... their foam order shows up.....  So the blocks were'nt even built yet.

I thanked them for their time and told them I'd build my own as I'd already been dealing with knee issues for 2 months waiting for them.

I should have heeded @Kayen's warning....

So much for that new "Operations Center" improving wait times... Sad

  5. Great info... I love my 1S and would be very interested in a head to head between it and this one... Depending on the price point of the 2S Pro

I'd go with the CCM just because I wouldn't touch anything with a Vaughn logo on it ;) But in all seriousness, it looks like a better bag when I saw them both in person. Especially if you're going to be on planes with it like I would be - the extra carry handles might not seem necessary in every day situations but they'd likely be really helpful for air crew loading it onto the plane :)

I need something for this summer's MSH SummerJam and since the Passau bag failed on first use I need to consider something else. That CCM bag is top of my list. I'm also considering just using my GRIT bag with the pads in their own separate pad bag (that I already own). I'm just a bit concerned about how it will hold up.

Did you ever contact Passau about your bag. I was reading some threads on GGSU and it sounds like a design flaw with one run of bags.

Most were either repaired or replacement bags sent out.

  7. New bag time for me... my older wheel bag (not even sure the brand) is falling apart.  I was leaning towards the Passau back pack bag but after reviewing this thread I'm not sold.

    Looking at either the CCM:

    Or the Vaughn

Anyone have any feedback on these 2... for better or worse?

@bunnyman666 - Shawn was / is Olympia Composites? Can’t remember which company his is with

I believe the only non-Pro with a DaveArt right now is Kane Van Gate. I think you’ll need to fly to Sweden and bike to his to barn and hold him hostage to get a mask!

Again, something else I’d pay to watch. Maybe you could start a Kick Starter campaign and have it filmed?!?

Shawn was Kustom Composites... But he had a fire and is now in the background mostly.  I think he is/was closely tied with the Maltese guys

  9. Jeff has a great mind and changed the toe strap debate forever. Kewlbands were a flash in the pan and their other stuff has yet to catch due to many being turned off by insane wait times (knee blocks taking 3/4 times than full set of gear)

As he continued to branch out with products and grow the company, they simply couldn’t meet demand and refused to change things to streamline the production of their items.

This paired with Jeff’s ongoing health issues made for a bad recipe.  I read the other day they’ve acquired new space so maybe that’ll eliminate some issues.
