  1. I would be shocked if this was illegal. Not all pads are made of the same skin from stock and brands are openly promoting different materials, coatings, etc to increase glide. Pad Skinz is also legal and that opens up the door adding material
  2. Hopefully this clarifies what I perceive to be the biggest benefit
  3. A guy on my men's league team runs the local pro shop. They are NOT open for games. He takes my steel after the game, sharpens it, and then returns it me Also, the removable steel makes it easier for shops to sharper goalie skates. It eliminates the need for extra jigs This is not the "intended" purpose of 2 sets of steel... but it's a small perk
  4. that's a fair opinion, like I said above. As a consumer the of holders, your main concern is the reliability of the holder. Everyone has a different buying criteria and that's why "best" is an impossible statement the more and more TGN stuff I do, the more and more I realize nothing is perfect.
  5. I have used both. I currently own both. I have had zero issues with blade pop outs on my Bauer and have no issues with the system. Per my math above, I think it's a niche scenario that gets over blown. I am more comfortable in Bauer and believe it's the angle. Maybe profiling could accomplish what I need, maybe not? I have never had an issue with my Bauer that made my want to switch to CCM and try to mimic my Bauer performance. That is sort of my point... It's my stance the Bauer holder is the best holder. I feel better on ice in it and have 0 issues that would make me think the pop outs are an epidemic. If you think you CCM is better because your #1 concern is no steel pop out potential or you like the flatter position, then that's a fine stance.
  6. are you going to open up the board?
  7. can fully agree on that. Just depends what matters to you
  8. depends on how you define "best" Yes, the CCM holder is less likely to have a blade pop out, but the pitch is too flat. I would say Vertexx is best I feel it sets you up best in your stance. I have had vertexx edge since day 1 and never had a pop out. I understand it happens, but I think that is honestly a 3% situation? I have well over 200 skates on Vertexx holders and never had a pop out Think about all the NHL guys that use it. I feel like the goalie steel pop out happens 20 times a season total in the league? There are over 1,200 games played in the NHL every year. Probably 600 or more of those games feature a Vertexx edge. As you can see, worse case scenario... It works correctly 92% of the time 600 Games Played Featuring Vertexx Edge 2 Holders per game 1200 Holders used a game situation a season 50 Blade pop outs 4.17% Failure rate 600 Games Played Featuring Vertexx Edge 2 Holders per game 1200 Holders used a game situation a season 20 Blade pop outs 1.67% Failure rate 600 Games Played Featuring Vertexx Edge 2 Holders per game 1200 Holders used a game situation a season 100 Blade pop outs 8.33% Failure rate You mention above the puck hitting the blade squarely... can you explain that differently? Is that a common situation?
  9. That is from the jersey logo. I had some confusion over that. That was probably high technology stitching for like 1920!
  10. Anyone notice a new puckering phenomenon in gear? Look at the boot in Mrazek's pad
  11. Look at subtle ghosted graphic on the 5 hole side of the while accent

    Wood Pads

I believe the goalie played for Rogle BK. I cannot think of his name and I am trying look up his set up. Does anyone remember a goalie 2-3 years ago who had a Bauer set up with wood DigiPrint effects?

    Pad breaks

@Chenner29 want to share your recent 20.1 no break vs single break outer experience?
  14. This always jumps to mind as an example
  15. Thank you. Only one on the list that I question is GNetik? But I will be the first one to admit that Brian's is the hardest to classify. They call them like 35 and 40 deg breaks. Darling spec is supposed to be a 5500 and based off Sub Zero (now Optik) and not GNetik. My request for a 580 style Glove was also built off an Optik 2 and definitely closed differently and more like a 580.
  16. Nothing is worse than getting your new custom gear and not being happy with it. I feel your pain. I have had some botched orders in the past. I think this "issue" though is just standard for hockey. The nylon and jerpros are made from different materials, have different textures, etc and it's pretty common for the materials to have slightly different shades or hues.
  17. 2nd time we have seen this without a source... who is putting this out? Can't you get a different liner though?
  18. exactly The challenge is so many people don't have access to try this shit on.
  19. you're not in my crew, but you're in my chart
  20. That's the point and any brand I have I talked to would say "try the gloves on and don't get stuck on the marketing explanation". Within each style of gloves, there are a ton of options. Maybe a 5500 does not work for you, but an SLR3 does. Yes, V9 is different than SLR, but they are both designed to be that whole hand hand closure style though. I believe Vaughn would explain the thumb angle or shape as the differences between the gloves. There are also 2 different V9 gloves. The 2 piece cuff is the V9 and it's that more traditional "Vaughn break". The V9 XP is the 1 piece cuff and is straight up 590 clone. Great thing about Vaughn? They have limitless glove break options for people to try... The bad thing about Vaughn? It's confusing AF keeping up with all the different variants.
  21. This is the "challenge" with gloves. We all feel things differently. I can say Vaughn XP Velo and 590 should feel similar.

    Vaughn SLR 3

Some stores have it and I know people are buying it. I think Vaughn has similar supply chain issues as True right now and is not able to provide a huge product dump to all their retailers yet. "Launch Date" may be fluid this year https://www.instagram.com/p/CaY2sifrSzT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  23. Brian's probably the hardest to classify for sure. But Wouldn't you agree it's more of a fingers than a palm closure? That's my goal here, let's focus on how the glove closes and not compare it to a number or other models?
