I just switched strapping behind my knee to strapping down to my calf with my G3s I started running the bootstrap through my Lundy loop so that my knee would land more squarely on the stack, but found that my pad was now under-rotating. Strapping down to my calf (and loosening my toe straps a bit) solved the under-rotation issue.
  2. "Gay" can certainly be used as a pejorative, but jean obviously offered the name sardonically. All I was pointing out is that getting pissy about people nowadays (generally) being more careful about the language they use is stupid. It's literally the least they can do.
  3. Avoiding the use of slurs in the name of a professional sports team isn't a big ask.
  4. I'll definitely be giving CCM skates a hard look when I go to replace my Bauers.
  5. It doesn't look that complicated. Most of it is shinny rules anyways. Not switching sides, giving the blue-line on a frozen/out-of-play puck, giving the red line on a goal. The only changes to the game play that players (and goalies) really need to be aware of are: 1) "Visitor" team gets the puck at the start of the first half, "Home" team at the start of the second 2) Neutral zone is gone; red line separates offensive/defensive zones. 3) Penalty shots are awarded for penalties. 4) Goalies cannot go to the bench for an extra attacker. Not having a neutral zone, with the red line determining on/off-side, will be the only genuinely confusing part. Mostly for the players though.
  6. Had my second ice-time tonight. Much improved. I was tracking the puck better, moving through the crease better. Almost felt like I had my pre-COVID form. (and I didn't pass out!) My right hip felt a little tight. Need to stretch that out before I go to sleep.
  7. It was great. Then I passed out. Then it was even better.
  8. So I passed out halfway through my ice time tonight. XD Heat exhaustion (it's happened to me before. I recognized what was happening, got myself to the bench, got some of my gear off). I'm fine, damn body just forgot that it needs to sweat when I'm standing on my head. Other than that my ice time went great! Looking forward to next weekend
  9. Honestly, some of the most fun I've had playing hockey, as a skater and as a goalie, was 3-on-3 pond style.

Interesting. I was wearing 35+1 Velocity V5s before I got my G3s, and was landing perfectly on the V5 stack without any bootstrap (just my lace toe ties, a calfstrap, and a knee strap)

Mhm. Without using the loop, my knee tends to land a little bit high of centre on the stack. I think, if I were to order a custom set from Warrior, I'd get 36+1.5 (currently in a 35+1.5). Maybe a 36+1.

The pad sitting higher up on your foot is due to the strap running through the Lundy Loop. I switched from strapping under my boot to through the loop for my last few skates before everything shutdown (G3s, not G5s), and really liked how it positioned my knee on the stack when I butterflied. Felt like the pad moved less when I skated out of my net, as* well.
  13. I mean, 15 minutes to clear the room means we can theoretically use the shower, but practically speaking? No. Especially if they're limiting it to one person at a time. I know that I'll be arriving and going home half-dressed, and using my own shower, because I hate racing against a clock to get my gear off.

I'd go for the bottom look
  15. Hockey is returning to Calgary as of June 19th. I got ice booked for that evening. These are the guidelines I got from the arena operator:
  16. Global manufacturing and supply chains are all kinds of messed up right now.
  17. I would drop-kick a small child for that ice.

    Beer

It's excellent. I love a good sour, so refreshing; disappointingly hard to find.

Sweet Kentucky Brown, from the Marda Loop Brewery. Also got a growler of Tangerine Sour I'm going to crack tomorrow. [Edit] Fuck tomorrow, live for today
  20. If Bauer didn't half-ass their stock graphic option, and then charge people through the nose to get a custom print, I wouldn't have anything bad to say about their looks. But they did, and they are, so yeah, I'm going to call it like I see it. I'm not trashing anyone's decision to get Bauer gear - your money, do what you want with it, no judgement here - but I'm not going to pretend like Bauer is being oh so munificent for giving everyone three whole colour zones with a digitally printed pad graphic that could have had literally hundreds with little to no effort on Bauer's part. Hell, they could have four, or five, or ten different stock graphics for people to choose from; legacy graphics, NHL graphics, the options are nearly endless. But, no, all they're giving customers is three colour zones, and if you want anything else you better pony up. It's corporate greed, plain and simple, and I'm not going to praise it.
  21. Not just their chesties, Passau has put a lot of equipment on sale and clearance, pads and gloves included: https://passauhockey.com/en/product-category/equipements/
  22. They also have the non-Pro customizer, if you want senior-level Bauer pads that don't look like crap. Though they'll charge you through the nose for it, and you'll probably end up spending as much as you would for custom Pro pads from another manufacturer. Only if you're willing to shell out a bunch of extra cash. Over 3K USD for a set of Vapor 2X Pro with custom graphics (over $4300 CAD right now). I could get a custom set of Warrior gear and save a thousand bucks. Custom sets from Mckenney and Passau are ~$2500 CAD. And honestly? I have serious doubts about the durability of Bauer gear these days. Four grand just to get a custom graphic on some pads that will probably last me half as long as a set from Warrior, Mckenney, or Passau? Not a chance.
  23. I hate companies that try to manipulate their customers into spending more by withholding product improvements that cost them nothing. Toxic business practices. And the graphics they have look like crap. Can't do anything interesting with them.
  24. Digitally printed graphics, and all they give on the face of the pad is three colour zones. I don't know who thought that was a good idea, but it wasn't.
