  1. Just an internal belt. Never felt comfortable wearing suspenders, or lacing my pants into my chestie.

    Warrior G5

Goalie Monkey doesn't have the G5 senior pads listed on their site yet, but they have the GT2 leg pads on for $799.99, the glove for $249.99, and the blocker for $229.99, for a total of ~$1280. GT2 custom Pro set costs $2229.99, so a senior set is about 60% as much as a custom Pro set, about $950 USD less. The difference between senior and custom Pro GT2 will probably be similar to the difference between senior and custom Pro G5, though that's speculation on my part.

Warrior senior level pads/gloves uses the same internals as their pro level gear from the previous line (G4 senior uses G3 internals, etc.). Good route, if you're looking at senior gear.

    Yup. That's a great look

Spring season is almost definitely going to get wiped out by everything going on, and winter might be hamstrung as well, which would leave me some extra cash for these beauts. *sigh* "If I had a million dollars..."
  7. My brother took this one of me last summer, so I'm wearing my old gear This one was from this summer. Bit of a shorter cut.
  8. Probably more structurally sound. A projectile striking a concave surface will transmit more force to it than if it were to strike a convex surface. Pucks are less likely to strike the back of the paddle, so this reduces the weight without sacrificing the durability of a convex face.
  9. Wiggling your glove around will work on lower-skill players, sometimes, but anyone that's gone pro or semi-pro will probably just exploit that.
  10. It helps me a lot. Really gets my hands moving, my head turning to track the puck. Not sure how it'll work for you, though.
  11. Oof. I was stretching during warm-up last week and heard a *pop* from my right-side gracilis. Played a few games since and it feels better every day, but groin injuries are nerve wracking. Never quite sure how long it's going to take to heal, what movements might aggravate it. Not fun.
  12. I was having general trouble making saves with my glove and blocker for the longest time, so during warm-up I started butterflying on the goal line while my teammates shoot on me, and that helped a lot. Lots of AAA goalies I've seen do something similar, where they'll have a guy just focus on shooting pucks at their glove and blocker for a while during warm-up.
  13. Smith saw what was happening, but too late. No time to get his body across, glove was the best he could do.
  14. I played a 3v3 tourney on a full sheet over the holidays, and it was the most fun I've ever had at a tournament. The games were only 16 minutes long (8 minute halves), with six player teams, so the games were fast-paced and over before everyone got completely bagged. Really great time.
  15. Those are the pint-size rinks, right?
  16. Defencemen need to do a better job of reading when some idiot is attempting this, so they can get behind the net and send them into next week.
  17. The biggest reason I can see for banning the Michigan/Svechnikov/lacrosse goal, is that it can put the blade of a player's stick very close to the goaltender's mask. Sticks to the head, through the cage, into the eye, that's a pretty big safety hazard. And goalies can't just get out of the way. I still don't really think it should be banned, much as I dislike them.
  18. Saw the thread title, thought of Niemi's TPS pads when he was with Chicago
  19. I slammed my CR2 into the post the other night; full-on baseball style, edge of the paddle, chopping through the post kind of motion. The impact, right where my stick met the post, chewed up the outer layer a bit. But, so far as I can tell, that's all it did. Pretty sure if I got some epoxy and glued the fragments down (or taped them down) it would be perfectly serviceable.
  20. Western (Pacific and Central Divisions) and Eastern ( Metropolitan and Atlantic Divisions) Conferences. The naming conventions make much more sense than they did previously, as they now refer to the geographic location of each team, so you can (usually) identify what division/conference a team is in by their city. Top three teams in each division make the playoffs, with the final two playoff spots in each conference being Wild Cards. Not as simple as 1-8 in each conference, but not that confusing either.
