  1. I had a similar issue when I switched to my G3s, so I started wearing a pair of McDavid hex knee pads underneath my goalie knee pads. Problem solved.
  2. Funny how that works. I'm 6'1, 200lbs, and my Large Passau fits really well.
  3. I've been using a Passau chest protector for about a year now? Very mobile, but much more protective than my old Vaughn was. Only took a couple skates to break in.
  4. Full replacement of the aortic root, aortic valve, and ascending aorta; so, yeah, full-on open heart surgery. Most of the recovery apparently takes place in 4-6 weeks, 28-42 days, but to be back on the ice in 47 days? Extremely impressive.
  5. I only ever undo the velcro on one side of my ribs, which helps a lot in keeping everything consistent.
  6. Markstrom sporting different pads than he used during camp. Still a white base, but he's using colourways on the face now.
  7. There's a point where the shaft can be too long, though. If your top hand is above your shoulder when you're handling the puck then you won't be able to keep that hand below your shoulder when you pass or shoot, and you'll lose power.
  8. Sure, but their daily case load peaked at 721 back on July 30th, which I'm given to understand is smack dab in the middle of their winter season, and is better than any day Canada has had since early September.
  9. I wholeheartedly agree that people who refuse to wear masks "becuz muh frEdumz" are incredibly annoying, and responsible in a significant way for things being far worse than they could have been. Not even touching on how they directly help COVID spread though their communities, they are very much responsible for spineless, cowardly politicians not taking swifter, more substantial action in the first place. Australia isn't dealing with this shit right now because they focused on driving case numbers down to zero during the first wave, and didn't hesitate to do the same during July when case numbers started rising again. Not being able to play hockey because other people refuse to rise to the occasion is incredibly frustrating.
  10. When did risking the safety of your community in defiance of public health orders becoming acceptable? I'm no happier about rinks being shut down than anyone else, but people are dying from this thing; COVID is the leading cause of death in the US as of this week. Missing some hockey is a small price to pay if it means keeping people alive.
  11. BC has been trending 2-3 weeks behind Alberta for months now.
  12. https://schinnydesigns.vistaprintdigital.com/ Local-(ish) artist, in Lethbridge, did my first mask as well. She's done a number of masks for uni/WHL/NCAA goalies.
  13. I anticipate at least one person going with the obvious lightning bolt design.
  14. (they put the plastic cover over the keys so that it's easier to disinfect between customers; smooth surface means fewer nooks and crannies for something to hide) (the gloves are pretty pointless for Average Joe, though)

(this is a G3 glove) So, the index strap is tightened so that the tip of it meets the edge of the soft velcro on the back of my hand; the thumb strap is tightened so that the end of it meets the side of the index strap. The only strap I ever undo is the pinky-side strap. The thumb/index finger straps stay done up, unless I'm removing the liner entirely (as I just did earlier today, because I noticed the pinky strap was pulling away from the aeromesh and I needed to sow it back into place). Anyways, the pinky straps goes low across the back of my hand, kinks just after meeting the index finger strap, and then follows the index strap up towards the spine of the T (which is over top the fleshy bit of your hand, between the index finger and thumb). (I typically close my glove while tightening the pinky strap, because I find that it pulls my hand deeper into the glove and I get a snugger fit) I find it locks my hand fairly deeply into the glove, and for those occasions where I do need to remove my glove while on the ice (for some reason) I only have one strap to tighten before I'm good to go.

I tighten the strap running straight to my thumb, but kink it 90 degrees once it reaches my index finger, and finish the velcro off running up towards the pocket. Uses the maximum amount of velcro, and gets nice and tight right behind my knuckles. (I can share a pic if you want) If your hand isn't thick enough for the velcro straps to get a nice snug fit, might need to use the leather thumb/pinky loops.

Yeah, I've always played with them like that
