  1. Hank is frankly an ambassador for the game. I wish he could have won a Cup, but he’s an HOF-er, none the less.
  2. We don’t have medics on the benches, so we really need protection!
  3. Yes I do. There was a junior goalie who also had a skate laceration as well. Scary stuff.
  4. Do you use dyneema? I have worn the same dyneema lined hockey socks that I wore as a forward; that being said, I feel exposed on my legs. I would love a pair of tights that would give protection from ankle to groin. Ever since I saw the kid get a dangerous wound in the femoral artery a few years back, it gave me some pause.
  5. I do recommend the baby shampoo/ water and alcohol for installation. Makes it a lot easier.
  6. I wouldn’t be surprised if “finishing your check” were outlawed in seasons to come if it hasn’t already.
  7. My excuses fill several stories of a high rise, Mister Hammer! That gif shows way too few!
  8. Zamboni was broken, so we played on a rough sheet of ice. I couldn’t find my crease. I couldn’t see how shots were going. Awful game last night due to conditions.
  9. Back in net after a week layoff. Fitness should not be a factor, but rust could be. My winter classic Blues sweater isn’t ready My ‘89 Stanley Cup Vernon nearly is. I may wear my lime green joke jersey, Bunny Larocque Habs or Jon Casey Stars. Don’t know.
  10. Lost weight over the duration of my trip. I worked out pretty well like normal during the trip with the exception of the arrival day. Hovering between 162 and 163. Didn’t splurge too much on eat and drink. This last 20 is going to be a battle. In general, feeling pretty decent.
  11. Welcome! I have always maintained the stance that pros and elite are your best R&D, so some of these features could be pre-production items as well as a request from the player in question. Many times, what’s inside could easily be last generation’s innards. Unless you could talk to the goalie in question or their pro rep, all of these things I have said are conjecture.
  12. ILP’s are wide open right now. We could see anything at this point. UMHE PE could be material du jour. So much depends on whether or not the NHL decides that the low-friction material is preventing too many goals. There are many 5-10 goal games right now. Bettman is creaming his jeans over that much scoring. But the minute scoring decreases, we could be in for Nash or nylon knee and calf “sliding” material.
  13. Sorry- I keep confusing people! Graf cowls have the tallest steel. No idea about their holders. I don’t like the way Graf mounts holders, but they mount cowls fine. I will go quietly sit in the corner now.
  14. Yeah- I was talking about the VH/Step holder. Graf actually has the tallest stock steel as far as cowlings go.
  15. That old VH/Step holder was super aggressive. I hated the super short blades, as well. It was literally a player holder, so it doesn’t surprise me in the least. Has anyone noticed how very few forwards used that holder?
  16. I won’t disagree here. My point is really that gloves in general don’t need to be laced nearly as tight as they are in the factory. Materials don’t stretch like they used to. But the poor internals design and over tight lacing exacerbates CCM gloves ability to close.
  17. In the days before Jenpro, you laced gloves tight because of the stretch. Jenpro really doesn’t stretch, per se. Between poorly designed internals and lacing the gloves like they’re made of leather, this is why so many gloves are horrendous to close. This lumpy glove exacerbates these traits.
  18. I think the simplicity of being able to have the tape be cleanly applied with enhanced ability to not roll up, therefore last longer, would be a Godsend for people, particularly in not wasting money on botched tape. I am going to work on the proverbial “serviette” drawings and see what people who would fabricate these things think.
  19. Second on Dennis Dombrowski. Solid dude, glove whisperer on top of that!
  20. With more friendly sliding materials coming along, wouldn’t it make sense if companies were either trying to figure out how to permanently embed 3M’s protective material into sliding surfaces or to modify the way knee blocks were made in order facilitate cleaner application of materials? I am toying with a knee block design that would allow just that. As soon as I finalise my design and have prototypes built, I will share.
