  1. Hey, welcome to the board. RE: your shoulder floater issue - do you wear suspenders? I started wearing them last year with my CCM unit. I ended up sewing some velcro loops on top of the shoulder floaters. When I dress, I secure the suspenders into the velcro loops so they stay in place and hold the floaters down. I also found that a fight strap on the backplate secured to the back pant loop helps keep the unit centered. Here's a pic I posted in another thread to illustrate how I was able to get mine to sit. Of course, if you've already decided to move on from your V9, that's another discussion
  2. Gear mods can get pretty in depth, especially when it comes to a custom shop like Brian's or Vaughn. IMO the best thing to do is to work backwards. Determine what you want in a pad and then see what the manufacturer can do to fit your need. Here are things to think about, and I'm just scratching the surface here. Pads: Desired stiffness (# of breaks; internal or external or both, type of foam core insert, boot flex) Soft or firm face (depends on how you like your rebounds) Boot scoop shape (wide or narrow stance) Sizing and where you want the inches (ie. subtract from boot to add to thigh) Toe attachment method (inset or center), skate lace or elastic Knee stack and calf wrap options (add/subtract inches to thickness, cut and paste parts from another line) Sliding surface (Primo, jenpro, weave) Glove: Type of break Tee type Tee reinforcement Glove palm reinforcement (game ready, pro, practice) Backhand cuff shape Palm texture/material, palm size Wrist strapping (nylon, leather, BOA) Blocker Board firmness (rebound velocity) Palm texture/material, padding (most modern blocker palms have some padding to alleviate stick vibration) Palm size, hand position Finger protection Side board air pillow Wrist strapping, backhand cuff shape

  10. Here's a pro stock Bobrovsky unit for comparison. I'd guess the component upgrades are part of what make it a Russian Spec https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/goalie/goalie-chest-arm-protectors/3683738-bobrovsky-pro-stock-goalie-chest
  11. I mean, why do you think I look so happy in that picture? Jeez, the joke's not funny if you've got to explain it

  13. I've got the Pacific Rink toiletry bag to go along with my Pacific Rink gear bag. I use a loofah in the shower after the rink and like to have some airflow in there to dry it out I also keep a suction cup hook in my bag to hang it on in the shower

  17. Good question, I would say it's down to the individual. There's some who are more in tune with what they want and some who just don't care. I skated with Justin Pogge last year said he just lets the equipment guys worry about it. All of his gear was literally bone stock, like he just went into a retail shop and bought it. I was also getting some coaching from a recently retired ECHL guy who specifies his cut but would stone the front half of the blade himself. Our first time out, we chatted about skates a bit and he said he likes the 3mm steel on the two piece Trues more than the 4mm on the one piece.
