  1. Roloson's "Warrior" pads were heavily modded and shared very little with the retail pad. https://ingoalmag.com/news/ingoal-insider-a-closer-look-at-dwayne-rolosons-pads/ Roloson retired in 2012. Gustavsson's Warriors "malfunctioning" in a game was a hotly debated topic 7 years ago (article published 2014). https://ingoalmag.com/gear/setting-record-straight-gustavssons-warrior-pad/ Not sure how modded they were, but he doesn't seem too picky about gear. https://www.prostockhockey.com/blog/getting-to-know-jonas-gustavsson/ Warrior hasn't been in the NHL since. Warrior pads half the wrap and calf lock to keep the shin locked in. I'm pretty sure those Bauer mishaps were due relying on only the elastic on the knee and calf. Also, I wanna say a player got jammed up with the goalie on the play I'm thinking of, and it was actually a good thing the pad came off... There might be more instances?

    Vaughn pad sizing

I believe the +1/2" shin and +1/2" boot was correct pre-V6. Once they added carbon to their gear, they fell in line with everyone else and changed it to +1/2" shin and +1/2" thigh. Most MFGs these days are going by the NHL minimum 7.5" boot, as goalies generally want to use their max allotted inches on the thigh rise. Be aware that some folks found newer gear after V7 to fit slightly larger than before, so you may want to try some new old stock in store or get accurate measurements.
  3. He's smiling, but he doesn't look happy What kind of sandwiches do you make
  4. Pretty sure it's just a cushier interior
  5. Wanna be the meat in our sandwich?
  6. "Water and sunlight" - for sure Also Fleury always looks like he's 5 seconds away from asking you a weird question
  7. It doesn't look like your lower league team is helping you out very much, and your higher level team is stomping everyone. I'm seeing the opposite in my leagues. I'm pretty sure my 35+ team is "too good" for the league, which is sad to say because they can't connect a pass out of the defensive zone to save their collective lives and the overall pace is really slow. I'm getting decent shot counts, but the lanes they take for zone entry and net drives are predictable. Nobody enters the offensive zone with speed - they all skate to their spot and stop, take the pass and then either break into the zone or get smothered. I'm honestly starting to think playing this level is pushing me back to some bad habits - I've caught myself playing sub-optimally in many situations, like not challenging enough on outnumbered attacks (because I know the shooter won't hit that extra net I'm giving them), doubting my edgework because the shooter held onto the puck a split second longer than I am expecting, being under or over-square on bad to dead angles, etc. Probably won't be back next season. I'd bail on this season but the team covered me and comped a jersey so I feel bad. But it's getting to the point where I don't even wanna put my gear in the bag and go to these lower level games, and I don't like that feeling. Here's my stat lines, upper team in each block is my 35+ team and bottom team is my silver league. Lot of missing data, they're not tracking GAA or shots. I really dislike the stat tracking app we use. D for defeat and N for ties? Why can't we just use WLT like normal people? And PPG (power play goal) and PPG (points per game) is kind of dumb Oh man I got blown out in my silver game this week. Other team decided to bring in a pair of guys playing in the SPHL. It's low tier pro hockey, but these guys were pretty good and more annoyingly, were going hard every shift. I know it's beer league and anyone can play, but what the fuck - this is silver. I'd expect that in gold.
  8. 50% of the job is already a thing. https://lockerroom13.com/ There's multiple tiers of service, but even for the very basic you get laundry/towel service, locker room pickup/drop-off, skate sharpening. Equipment repairs are extra
  9. But how will people ever recognize my contributions on the board? Should I start bumping my own threads?
  10. Velcro thumb loop on the glove Knee block landing surface texture has changed Knee velcro isn't sandwiched inside the knee stacks, looks like it attaches like the Ultrasonic. Could be a confirmation of a one-piece knee block Not sure why the inside toe droops down like this, could it be a performance feature? Seems counter intuitive to me Blocker board looks thinned out from this angle
  11. 10-4 on that, agree retail is the worst. I was picking up some random things from my local Monkey Sports the other day and a hockey dad was ripping into the CSRs because his son's 3 year old CCMs were fraying at the boot. You could tell the kid abused the crap out of his gear based on the condition of the leg channel... Coaching is going to need certification, I was thinking something more pedestrian like usher or concession stand. Not sure what your professional background is in, but I'm sure you've got skills that are translatable to running and/or supporting a team. On the other hand, goalie coaching sounds like it'd be a blast, there's a ton of great training resources and videos out there on social media.
  12. Have you considered... Working hockey retail to support your gear habit, Volunteering for the Kraken and seeing if you can exchange your time for discounted/free tickets, early access to gear sales, etc? I know a few locals around me that do the same for the Ducks and Kings I was gonna troll you with a shirtless Grubauer pic but my 5 seconds of searching yielded 0 results so I'll quit here
  13. The Warrior website does not list a regular G5 Senior, only the Senior + https://www.warrior.com/hockeygoalie_catchglove All the gear is made overseas (Vietnam?)
  14. No kidding, Evander Kane seems like a super nice guy (sarcasm)
  15. Where do they go for their propane and propane accessories?
  16. GoalieParts offers red! https://goalieparts.com/products/goalie-mask-plastic-slider-clips.html And stainless! https://goalieparts.com/products/goalie-mask-stainless-steel-slider-clips.html and...GOLD https://goalieparts.com/products/gold-stainless-steel-goalie-mask-slider-clips.html Edit: And colored cage clips! https://goalieparts.com/products/powdercoated-goalie-mask-clips-screws.html
  17. I'm assuming your knee is falling off the back of the knee block (horizontal) - you've mentioned in another thread about the pads being too tall, and to me that's a pad height issue (vertical). Here's a blurry screen cap of my setup. Inside the knee layers, my velcro is angled downward, instead of square front and back No boot strap, just the nylon calf strap at the loosest possible (blue) and the FRS inside which is on the snug side (red at calf). The FRS keeps my shin locked into the pad, which probably helps my knee stay on the block. Is your knee elastic doubled up, or single? I've found doubled up gives the best tension. IIRC you have the Bauer 9000? You can try wearing the calf strap tighter to help keep your shin locked in to try to simulate the feel of an FRS or professor strap. I'm thinking the tighter your shin is to the back face of your pad, the less your knee will separate (circled in red) Also, try moving the knee elastic in (edit: and up towards the top of the block) towards the face of the pad more between the knee layers (blue arrow), this should help give the elastic a little more resistance to fight to keep your knee on.
  18. I mean, Vezina winners are basically going for free these days. Who cares about draft picks
  19. Kuemper to the Avs when will this stop I’m getting dizzy
  20. So uh Vanecek got picked up in the expansion draft by Seattle from Washington Seattle just traded him back This shit's wild lol https://www.tsn.ca/washington-capitals-vitek-vanacek-seattle-kraken-1.1674483
  21. Sooooooooooooooo... I got credit for a gino last night. Whited out the names for privacy's sake
  22. Avs have $12m in cap space as of right now, including Erik Johnson's contract. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/avalanche IIRC we are going into the last year of Fleury's current contract. Personally I would love to see this happen, but I don't see Chicago trading Fleury after the mountain of assets they gave up to bring him in (lol)
  23. He finally escaped Eminem's basement
