    2021 Playoffs

Let's worry less on the meaning of the phrase and focus more on the positive We've got our "Tommy Salo Retired?" moment on the TGN board, boys Also do not Google image search "dead closet" - lots of depressing news there
  2. Here's a vid snip of me in an Adidas 58G. I'm 5'11 with an NHL spec CCM chest unit. These are my favorite fitting jerseys by far. There's plenty of stretch in it if you've got an old spec chest.
  3. I had a strong hatred of the old CCM goalie cuts with the wizard sleeves. The sleeves were too wide and short. Wrist opening was like a foot wide, armpits were more like two feet Also notice Ozzie had some additional padding outside the hip...
  4. When going down an inch in overall pad size, most manufacturers will get there by taking half an inch off the thigh and shin. The knee and boot will stay the same. So, you're not really losing that much by going down an inch overall Same brand/different lines may affect this as well - most brands now have one stiff boot pad and one soft boot pad.
  5. @ZeroGravitas is 5'11 and has a pair that I can't get him to switch out of
  6. Skates for me as well. When I got out of my Graf 7500s and into True, I couldn't wait for my next skate session. Comfort was and continues to be a very important thing for me. The Grafs would pinch around the ball of my foot during certain movements, even after numerous bakings and boot punches. I think I'd hit a nerve or something as there would be a shock sensation going up my entire leg if I moved a certain way. It got to a point where I subconsciously started to move very gingerly around the crease and would set up/transition/plant off the heel of my boot instead of using more of my forefoot. We're two years out and I'm still trying to fix some of these muscle memory compensations
  7. Wow, you two even use the same colloquialisms

    2021 Playoffs

I've got a white jersey that I was lucky enough to get autographed by him in person. One of my friends used to be one of those crazy autograph stalkers, and knew where/when teams would practice and stay at when they were in town. We caught them at the LA practice facility back when Huet had just been traded. My now wife (girlfriend at the time) got a puck signed by Kovalev and a picture with Mike Komisarek that day. She was hoping to get either a pic or autograph with Koivu and Chris Higgins, but they escaped out the back door in a rental car. I got this thing signed, and it's hanging up in my garage next to an Avalanche Roy jersey that I bought. I've been meaning to get both framed, and now that I'm remodeling my home office I will probably have it done in the next couple weeks. A lot of guys have their vital stats inflated for the press books or whatever. I've walked by Paul Kariya (5'10) and Teemu Selanne (6'0), and also met Koivu (5'10) and Guy Hebert (5'11) - I'm 5'11 and and these guys all had their heights inflated by 2-3". On the other hand, Carey is a true 6'3 220lb man rocket. My wife remarked on his huge posterior. He wasn't too personable, but he wasn't rude either. Basically think of how he is during media interviews, one word answers and that sarcastic type of humor.
  9. That's a debadged Pro Spec CCM NHL unit. They're probably reverse engineering it as most of their pro customers are wearing it. We'll have to wait and see how close their final product is to the CCM. In the meantime, if you want the CCM version, check SLS and Facebook sale groups as they pop up from time to time. I own a Varlamov return and it is excellent. @TheGoalNet grabbed one from Eric Comrie (?) and didn't like the arm stiffness...so the forum reviews on it are split 50/50 lol
  10. The design principle was to create something like an outer roll on a goal pad, where pucks hitting the raised edge wouldn't skip or roll over. Personally, I don't see such a small ridge doing much if the shot is hard enough. On top of that, the ridges are in areas that will shift upon impact (outer shoulder and arm floaters) ... but YMMV
  11. Changed the subject line and moved the thread to the correct sub, but these things are ancient. The company hasn't been around for at least a decade, maybe two. I doubt anyone has any real tangible info on them. Sorry @Larceny#30
  12. Have you tried storing your reds upside down to promote a bit more curve in the thigh? Your blues look a much more aggressively curved. I store my X-stiff Lefevres that way and I'm having some good success with them. This is actually one of the reasons why I could never get used to my Keneskys - I wasn't able to get the pads to hold a pre-curve like the Lefevre stuff does.
  13. I'm following along a bit here. I'm of the opinion that every time someone hacks off the top of their pads, they regret it and end up ordering new ones... Can you post a pic of the side profile on both pads side by side? How do you store the pads when they're not in use?
  14. Going to echo the sentiments here on the RRC. I had a bit of time with a similar system when I wore the Kenesky pads. IMO you want it just snug enough so that - You do not fall off the back of the knee block Can feel some interaction between the strap and your leg when you recover (helps to bring the pad up faster) The tightness you are feeling probably has more to do with how tight your knee and upper shin are to the pad. Once you open it up a bit and get a little more play, the pad will hang off your leg just a little bit and you should feel some relief. I, too am a grower, not a shower.

    2021 Playoffs

Seems like Price is in their heads. So many shots going wide or over. Habs D doing a good job keeping most shots to the outside too. And timely, backbreaking goals
  16. Man, I'm gonna do that too My wife has been all about this Montreal run and saw Price's all red True set from earlier in the year. I asked her if I could get another to match that and she didn't say no...
  17. We'll have to see the guts to be sure, but I agree it looks like it's going to be in three pieces from outside in - Knee wing, on the sliding surface, somehow integrated into the pad Knee block, probably separate and laced/bound in Knee cradle, directly interfaces with the player. Also looks like the knee wing has a piece that wraps around the rest of the landing gear, similar to the Warrior lines (probably to keep everything tight and bundled in) Axis 2 looks to be an interesting pad for sure and definitely on my radar...

    2021 Playoffs

I've been a Fleury fan since his first year in the league. Despite his penchant for soft goals, I have a ton of respect for the amount of athleticism and pure compete level in his game. Also love watching Price. I don't really have a team that I root for (free agent fan of some sorts). Closest local team I'd root for is LA but they're out. Wife is from Montreal, so I've fallen in with that bandwagon and it's always fun to cheer for the underdog. Going into this series, I was torn as these are my two favorite guys to watch in this league. Seeing Fleury get benched kind of cemented by decision to root for the Habs. Not sure if this is like last series where Fleury elected to take G1 off against Colorado, there could be some behind-the-scenes stuff that is going on with player and bench boss...but I'm guessing Lehner's getting the starts the rest of the way.
  19. Are we comparing length or girth now?
  20. The rink and the surrounding park sits on a decommissioned air force base that moved out of here in...1993? It's mostly done now, looks pretty nice. That lot to the north east of the rink is still empty. No idea what's going in there...I think they were plotting on putting retail there, which makes sense given the surrounding residential areas. The leftmost building houses three rinks, and that vertically oriented one to the right houses the arena. All of them are connected, although it looks like they were constructed separately. Rinks are numbered 1 through 4 from left to right. That dirt lot to the south west before you hit the fire station is the main parking lot. If I have a game on Rink 4, I'm basically walking across 5 or 6 rink widths to get to my car, it sucks. I've started to park in the EV lot to the south east and pay to charge my car just to save myself the extra work.
  21. And the thread where some guy was trying to convince everyone to "burn [their] toe ties!" ???
  22. We are back here in California, too. Fortunately showers are back open and we are playing at what's basically a brand new rink that the Ducks practice at. Unfortunately, the facility was designed with with the ice sheets spread out lengthwise instead of as a square. Parking is next to the entrance near sheets 1 and 2, so if I play on 3 or 4 I'm walking a pretty nice distance and I'll be sweaty again by the time I'm back in my car...lol Here's a link for you guys to explore on Google maps if you wanna take a look, if you're on browser you can click the little person in the bottom right to get these little blue dots on the map to pop up. When you click the little blue dots, you can see some pics of the facility from the inside https://goo.gl/maps/YLCTvtBr21PkRJzF7
