  1. Not sure the Devils ever wanted any parts from the Rockies. Have they ever gone near wearing anything Rockies related? Meanwhile...
  2. Atlanta ain't exactly Quebec City in regards to love of their former NHL team(s). Plenty of seats available!
  3. I played roller hockey since the 90s at the local skating rink. It was the same rink that I had my birthday parties at, went to every Friday night to skate, overnight skating sessions, couples skates, etc. Coronavirus forced the place to close since last March. The owner did all he could to keep it afloat... but he had to close down at the end of January 2021. It was a survivor from the heyday of roller disco from the 70s. Cinderblock walls were updated with cement hard glass on top. One end was cut off so that a large jungle gym could be added for the kids. The other end had corners that were not really rounded. Not to mention the DJ booth at the one corner. The carpets were loud. There was the skate room full of peanut butter skates with orange wheels. Pictures of kids from the day in their figure skating attire with dads standing ever so proudly next to them. It was full of so many memories. I didn't go there as much as I should. Same things we all say when we lose something we loved. I felt like I let down the owner by not giving him more business. I tried. I had my kids in in many programs there. They would even go to the summer camps all summer until they were old enough to stay home. I really hoped my kids could one day work there. Maybe in the kitchen making the infamous skating rink pizzas that were as hard as the floor. If anything, I thought they'd go there with their friends to meet other kids and do what kids do at the skating rink. Sadly, my kids never really wanted to go there. Their friends didn't either. The skating rink crowds were mostly real young kids and not the pre-teen and teenagers that were there when I was of that age. Just the way kids are now. With their phones, the need to all go to a place to see other kids isn't needed. We all played one last game before it was shut down. Some people were flying around as they still play frequently. Others, like myself, hadn't been on the court in several years and looked every part of an old guy out there. The blisters are still killing my feet. I played like crap. I didn't care - we played for hours because none of us wanted it to end. When it did, we took pictures and stood around thinking of all the hours we all spent there. We told stories and tried to convey to the owner how much we appreciated him and all he did. The sadness of it all hasn't really hit me until now. We all helped pull out what remaining items were left onto the floor. They were holding a 'yard sale' the following day. Old dusty speakers, unused cans of paint. The jungle gym was gone as was the last sound system. A few games remained on the side with "sold" tags on them. My buddy who owns the place was quite upset. I can't imagine what he's been going through these past few months. The building will become a wharehouse with ample parking around it. New garage doors are being installed as the ceiling tiles, with disco lights and a disco ball are no more. The sport court was beat up. It was installed after a bad storm flooded the rink and warped the original wood floor. It's hard to think we played hockey on a wood floor with concrete walls. For hours a night. New people would come in and question our sanity. It was our home for decades. She'll be missed. Thanks for the memories Deptford Skating Rink or as it was called the past few decades, "DSC". Will not be the same to go by the place and not see the skating rink anymore.
  4. Call me cranky - but seeing an Avs mask with Quebec logos is in bad taste. Your team was ripped from the hearts of Quebec and moved to a market far away. Then you "honor" them? Stay in your Colorado lane and maybe dress up like the Rockies. Leave the Nordiques fans alone. I would be like divorcing my wife then putting a picture of my ex-wife up in my new house with my new wife. If you wanted to be the Quebec Nordiques, you should have stayed as them.
  5. Pair of CCM ProLite pads on the bay. Were these a CCM rebrand? Or were CCM making their own Aeroflex/ GM-PRO/ Smith pads in house? https://www.ebay.com/itm/CCM-Prolite-Goalie-Pads-36/303868002454?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131231084308%26meid%3D6c53763a61e940108057e8a4967299a4%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D124521208600%26itm%3D303868002454%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganicWithAblationExplorer%26brand%3DCCM&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109 "ARC" seems like it would be active rebound control or something along that line. I recall that in the day, foam pads were thought to be detrimental for goalies with rebounds. Deer hair was preferred...
  6. Aww man... it's the 'Reverse Retro'. Go buy yours today!!! I saw the Flyers (I live near Philly) were advertising that you could shop their stadium store online for their version of the 'Reverse Retro' god awful jersey. Yeah, I'm going to shop online and pay stadium store prices still. Can I also order some $14 Miller Lites and a $16 hot dog too?
  7. Goalies playing for Coyotes in Brian's gear... something so right with that.
  8. This is what the internet is. Best post of the decade (so far).
  9. With covid rules still in place here, people's vehicles aren't just for hauling gear, they're also dressing rooms outside the rink. And if you're a hockey parent, they also work for watching the games on a tv someone brings and sets up on the tailgate. Being it's January, I have to run my Jeep and pump the heat to stay somewhat warm while watching the games on tv. It's been an interesting season so far.
  10. I have an 8' bed F150. My son always sees other trucks with lesser sized beds and will say something negative about them. I usually counter with a question of how much do we actually use the 8' bed? Not much honestly. I have a 1995 F150 in the driveway for random times I (or anyone who asks to borrow it) need a pickup. It's old, beatup and rusty. It's basically used like a tool from the toolbox.
  11. Colorado's colors are odd anyway. They really don't fit the state.
  12. Sadly, I liked cargo shorts. Between my physique, bad hair cut, my enjoyment of wearing slides, my hot wife and a bike rack full of bikes... People see me riding with my wife and could assume I'm a "butch" lady. When is the next Lilith Fair?

    Mckenney Gear

Just looks like you're wearing some Chris Osgood pro-returns.
  14. I have an old 1995 Wrangler that I drive when I can. Bought it in college in 1997. For the past year it's been driving like poop. Random engine misses when it's running. I went through every little thing. Watch YouTube videos every night with a new potential fix. Wearing out Rock Auto. Months of this... Found it had a melted wire that was obstructed from easy view. Was for the crank position sensor. Running like a 26 year old top again.
  15. My wife has a 2016. I hate driving it - but it's a great / easy car to maintain. Congrats.
  16. I never thought I'd see this day in the NHL... glad I don't watch anyway.
  17. I don't know. I can only assume it was something he's always had and was recently picked up. Seems like it happens to many athletes where they have heart conditions and either drop dead or luckily get it repaired before it's too late. My sister runs marathons. She recently had to have her heart valve moved due to an abnormality in her heart. She had hers done at Mayo in MN. She's good now, but can't really get running again yet. But she will.
  18. The NHL is sadly allowing ads on helmets and all this season. I will not be sad when some of these Dave Art masks get replaced with a McDonald's logo.
  19. Saying it went well. Glad to hear. This is what was done. Heck of a lot of work. Play again or not - don't really matter. Get this dude a microphone and blow dryer stat!
  20. We need some pyrotechnics in the NHL. This Flames mask would be level 10 if it had some real flames shooting out. Might be an issue with the ice. But the fans would love it. If not real fire, just hire Bam Bam Bigelo:

    Beer

The beer and laundry picture is better than the gear and sofa pictures in the day.
  22. Days of the Neff these are not.
  23. Dave Art reminds me of when good looking hollywood actors intentionally look like they are homeless. Hs art skills are so good for sure yet he works hard to make his stuff look like it was done by a kid with colored pencils. Like presidential candidate Kayne's $15,000 sweater that looks like trash. BTW - I voted for Kayne.
  24. Thanks to Dave Art - I now realize that the Flames logo on it's side actually is a burning mushroom. (The white inside of the C looks like a white mushroom to me - or a chef's hat)
