Watching a lot of pre-80 hockey on NHL Network. The appreciation for the gear then is growing for sure. I always wonder what if Doc Brown showed up and took me back to the 70s. Would the concept of non-leather gear blow minds?

That stance - while ridiculous - was super badass on a hockey card. Crouched down - focused.

I have NOS clips for that neck protector in my desk. I used one for a time. Never really had a good setup with mine. The Cooper GTP was and still is king.

I was playing high level roller when the Michigan happened. So every butt head would go behind the net and try it. Some could get the puck up on their stick during the game. I'm 6'2" - and this was before RVH was the thing - so while on my feet looking through the net, I'd see the dude pushing his stick down on the puck and I'd simply reach over the net and push them. Didn't take much contact to mess them up. This was also the era where everyone was Wayne Gretzky behind the net and would pass to themselves off the flat part of the bottom of the goal like Gretzky did.

Vaughn still uses the "70" number in their intermediate models today. Blockers from the past are nothing special. There was a time when the modern style blocker was being built with the old size spec. Right around the time of the Velocity 1 model. I have a few of these in my collection. Big and a great design. Easy to repalm too.

Yes, the 2070 model is the intermediate. It's the intermediate of the 2000 line of gloves. Some say that the T2000 (catch glove) is one of the best ever. You're used to the modern size gloves that are what the old 'intermediate' gloves were in size. The Reflex models were around in the early/mid 90s. Think it was a line between the Legacy and Vision stuff. Forget what it had that made it different.
