  1. What was CCM goalie gear, Alex.
  2. Tom Draper did it better: Art School Matt Here... The thing with the current masks is the fear of hard transitions between colors. The artists wash the edges too much with the use of lighter colors to blend the edge. These artists need to be more bold and not fear a hard transition. It's a mask, not a Bob Ross landscape.
  3. Going with the rebar center bar... not messing around.
  4. Sadly, with a 70" HD tv and all, his masks still look like a blur of colors on tv. I guess it's cool to be too cool to be seen by fans. Maybe hip? Then again...
  5. Heart conditions come in all shapes and sizes. Hopefully his is not critical and maybe just related to him playing with it. Glad they caught it before it caused something bad. That said, did he ever get on the ice with the Capitals for a workout? Most importantly, did he have some fresh Caps gear? Hoping we see it in action. But if not, it would be one of those "remember when he signed with the..." things when discussing his career.
  6. At least it was John Brown. True is a huge sports company and all - you'd think they would have gone with a cooler name. What do I know...
  7. "True" could be one of the worst names for a gear company ever. Just Sayin'
  8. I hear people say that there are all these people who refuse to wear masks. I've yet to be anywhere in public that masks are required that everyone isn't wearing a mask. Sure, people complain that wearing a mask sucks, but they all do.
  9. I'm fearful of this virus. Had pneumonia several times in my 43 years on Earth. Figure covid will really kick my ass. If I were playing still (retired), I'd likely opt out of playing myself. As for the rinks - I think the kids dressing outside at their parent's cars and just running on ice clinics with 10 people or less on the rink is fine. (NJ has a 10 person indoor cap) My boys walk in and out of the rink wearing a mask. There are no parents in the rinks. Again, if it bothers you, just don't come. It's way cool. There are a few kids that my boys play with that have opted out. It's winter here. My kids need to exercise. Small group skates a few times a week are great. School is closed, no gym class, it's cold outside and dark at 4, so they can only do so much to stay active. The good part is that their rink re-opened yesterday. We have to sign up for small group clinics online. Hopefully this is fine until it gets better.
  10. I spray painted a pair of mylecs to look like those... until I used them one time.
  11. NJ shut down indoor sports earlier this month. My kids' rink was still open with the kids now doing clinics rather than practices as there was still training allowed indoors. Some parents were mad. I think they feel that they will get refunds from the rink if its completely shut down. They were boycotting the clinics and crying on the team forums. Today the rink was shut down completely. It seems that the complainers got to the right people. A reporter from the Philadelphia Inquirer snuck in the rink and took pictures of the kids on the ice. Said that they were still practicing regardless of the state's order. When did being a tattle tale and getting everything canned become the cool thing?
  12. Nothing wrong with it? You said it has wheels, right? Just sayin' (this is a lame attempt at the tired old joke about wheeled bags)
  13. I saw a younger dude walking into my kids rink this weekend carrying a huge Cooper bag of gear and a sweet orange and black Mark Laforest model Louisville stick. If it weren't for covid - I would have asked him all about it.
  14. Questioning gear hoarding is grounds for a ban in these parts.
  15. Pouring one out for GSBB. Is that the new NHL training camps? Outside on a pond? Where's Russ Crowe? Rangers flying up to Mystery again?
  16. Sorry, missed this. My kids play out of Hollydell which is near Philly. Nj changed the rules for locker use again recently, so they have groups of chairs in areas around the rink with "A, B, C, D" taped on the wall behind that area. Teams just go to an area to dress. We're heading up to the Rockets arena this weekend and they allow people in. You have to sign an online waiver and check in when you enter and get a temp scan done. Was at Atlantic City (crap hole of a rink) and we snuck in the side door and stood behind the stands. ha ha PA rinks have been different every time you go.
  17. My kids are playing. We live in NJ but have been forced to mostly play in PA. NJ just allowed league games last weekend, but my kids have been playing in PA since August for the most part. As for the rules - they've been changing. Some rinks allowed parents in the rink, some don't. Some will let us in the snack bar/ restaurant to watch (snack bars are packed!) while the stands are empty. Nobody really has this figured out right now, so we just roll with it. My kids teams mostly just tailgate with a parent streaming the game through facebook live. We have TVs in the parking lots with tents and chairs. A ton of beer, food, etc. While we complain we can't go in... this is pretty fun so far. As for playing. All the rinks want the players to walk in the rink with a mask on. Some take temps for all who enter. Some rinks allowed locker room use, some don't and everyone is changing in common areas. (Might be an issue for men's league old guys who love to walk around the locker room naked). Some teams mostly come dressed. I think it's their teams' rule or they just want to do that. Regardless, my kids walk in like normal and get dressed inside. Earlier they were adhering to the 25 people limit with only 10 players per team allowed on the bench/ice, a coach for each team, 2 refs and scorekeeper. The players not on the bench were to stay in the locker (with mask on) until swapped at intermission. Yes, it wasn't well liked. The rules changed and now all the rinks are allowing full teams on the benches and all. No handshakes. The rink then sends in people with sprayers to disinfect the benches, rooms and walkways between games. There may have been numerous 'clinics' during the lockdown between two teams. There may have been practices during the lockdown. Right now we can watch practices in NJ from the adjacent restaurants for the most part. I don't really want to watch practices for my kids (parents actually cheer?). So parking lot with a cooler has been my hang. Really no issues for the players to deal with. Just ask the rink what they want you to do and follow it. We don't want the rinks to get in trouble and we lose ice time. Hopefully we're all back to normal before I die (I'm 43). ha ha

    New Team, Old Gear

Thanks again. Funny how many goalies will have new team gear yet use their old sticks. Out of all the equipment, changing your stick is the easiest. The Whalers mask on the Canes is ironic. Also the reverse flow writing is unique.
  19. The Brian's sticks were just foam core sticks. Ones I used were stiff. Close to a 9950. I have a few in my old stick collection in my basement. What? You don't have a collection of your old sticks in your basement?
  20. oooohhhh I can smell that McM glove from here. The crusty liner inside. Why do I always try those old gems on and think I need them. That Vic McM is really sweet.
  21. Saw a dude on the Lightning rocking a rad fro. No. 7, Mathieu Joseph. A+ hair. Coolest dude on the Lightning.

    New Team, Old Gear

This is a classic card. Flyers logo on the card for current team while wearing Bruins uniform and wearing Canadiens gear. This perfectly sums up mens league hockey goalies....
